Even if you're just playing league night 12" adult softball like me, this is a key skill to have. Thank you. Really needed to see this to up my level in the game.
This was def a much needed video. Thank you so much for answering my question.
Matt,
I love this drill!! This technique is an lost art just like bunting. I have seen a lot of kids under the age of 12 who try this drill and trying to re-establish their footing and throw over the top. Even in girls softball I see that as well, I think boys and girls are scared of not reaching the first basemen or launching it , but that’s why we do this drill in practice so they can straighten their arm and accuracy
1:11 what a cannon
Mannnnn I wish I had your videos when i was playing ball !!
Are there any Antonelli baseball teams in Oregon?
hey i’m new to your content but you post great videos. i would like to know how the clubhouse and fields and training stuff was in the majors. and what you did while in the majors
This video worked out so much 🙌
Always appreciate these videos
you may want to mention how you pronate at lower release points, some kids will hook the ball into the sky untill it's shown to them
Regarding arm action. Could you say it’s the same action as normal, except you just tilted the axis by bending at the hip to get over your “wrong” foot?
And this is why you every day Dads should never coach little league. And apparently high school and college coaches either because this is the first time I’ve ever heard of this haha good stuff!!
If dads didn’t coach little league there would be no little league.
I like the emphasis on the drills. The mechanics and lessons are correct. But I think you’re explaining throwing off the wrong foot incorrectly.
You’re throwing off the right foot in both instances (or the back foot, whichever arm you use to throw). In a normal throw, you’re generating all of the power and rotation through your back foot. The front foot is used to anchor the lever and generate more torque through the midsection. On the run, however, you don’t have the front foot to plant without losing momentum, rotation, or time, so you forego the anchor and have to rely more on mid and upper body mechanics. So your emphasis on midsection balance and technique are key to consist performance. I’ll be sure to inject this into my players’ throwing routine.
I forgot to add one more tid-bit, after your playing days was coming to an end, did you ever consider converting to a pitcher to prolong your MLB
Career?
What does the back of your hoodie say?
