I’m not a beginner at violin, but I’m also not advanced. I’ve been wanting to play this piece but completely lost confidence that I could do it- especially because I haven’t practiced in a very long time. But honestly, your lessons are just outstanding. It makes me think that I could actually do it! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on violin. It really, really helps :)
I was in the same boat, I have been practicing a lot since last year and especially this summer, and I have made so much improvement!! I started playing 6 years ago, never really started actually practicing until a year ago, and am making great progress! I also go to lessons, and I am going to be learning this piece soon!! I believe in you! If you still are in this boat!!!
ive been playing for 2 years and im playing this for my competition 😔😔
Other UA-cam violin teachers *please take note*: This lady KNOWS how to teach! She includes the sheet music, which is extremely useful for the viewer-student. Many so-called teachers post videos saying stuff like "put this finger on this string", without showing where they are on the sheet music. These videos are essentially useless.
Glad you liked it David!
tbf it's an easier version, my sheet notes say the first part is played only on the g string
This video actually gave me the confidence that I could learn this piece. Haven't started it yet but the way you broke it down really demystified a lot of it for me. Thanks!
You are most welcome! Glad to know it helped. Be sure to check out all other videos by Lora on VSM: www.virtualsheetmusic.com/experts/lora/
can you play it after a year
I don’t know the first thing about violin playing but that teacher is so brilliant she makes learning that instrument very tempting. Her students are very fortunate to be in her class.
I'm playing this piece for my A level exams in music and i'm so grateful to have found this video! I was struggeling so hard with the section in 42, but i just applied what you said and i already feel a difference! Thank you so much!
That's great to know! Be sure to checkout all other videos by Lora on VSM, maybe you'll find something else this useful: www.virtualsheetmusic.com/experts/lora/
Totally best advice, when I was learning I used to slow videos right down and learn note for note
You are now my favorite teacher on youtube. :) Excellent Lesson again.

I am also a violin teacher for beginners and intermediate players but I love to hear other teachers. She is my favorite on UA-cam because her advice is very practical and works. Not all video teachers are good. So I think she is one of the best teachers on-line.
N Charles hope she gets to read this.

I have to say thank you! I'm quit playing before 15 years and I return in the last few months and this video really did the job helping me relearning my self/
Great to hear!
For years I always want to try out Czardas, Now thanks to you I may be encourage to try it out. Thanks a lot!
what a class. no bull talking on interpretation, I got some well-pointed technical hints.
interpretation is a personal thing.
congrats for covering thoroughly the piece. also I was looking for more hints for clearer harmonics and that increased bow weight thing I something I havent heard yet from previous vid I had seen.
to sum it up, thanks teacher.
I used to skip the artificial finger harmonic section with the excuse that I need a better violin. But your tip on using more bow weight really helps. Thanks Lora. Also playing really helps closer to the bridge in that section really helps bring out those whistle tones!
Glad it was helpful!
If you can play it slowly, you can play it fast
Ling ling can do both at the same time

Hi Lora; you are my favourite UA-cam violin teacher now. I feel ready to tackle the Monti Czardas together with you after battling my violin for 7 years now. I'm not a tallent, but I enjoy practising nice music pieces every day of the week for about 2 hours/day. I never thought to get this far, as I started very late in life. See how we go 😊👍
Wonderful!
I started practicing this piece again after a few years, this video is really helpful especially the part about double harmonics. I should follow your advice. Thank you so much! 👍
Glad it helped! And you are most welcome!
May I ask you where you are from? Your pronunciation is so clear and easy to comprehend. Being non-English native speaker, I'd like to learn your English accent as well as violin techniques through your instruction video clips.
You can ask any questions to Lora on this video's dedicated page on VSM: www.virtualsheetmusic.com/experts/lora/czardas/
It was always my dream to play this. Now, 3 years after I started playing the violin, I am starting to learn this. It will also teach me the 3rd position at the same time, which is great
Awesome, keep it up!
Thank you so much for your videos! They're extremely informative and you have such a great way of explaining things. I really appreciate the notes at the bottom so we can see exactly what you are talking about and i LOVE that you go over everything several times!

Great video, thanks!
This is currently (2024) an ABRSM Grade 8 piece.
Glad it was helpful!
That was awesome, Lora !! I fell in love with this peace when I saw a movie starring Dudley Moore (one of my fave pianists) titled, 'Unfaithfully Yours" - back in 1984. Dudley and his male co-star have a violin battle in a Italian restaurant over the affection of a beautiful woman. It was a great version of Czardas.. really intense and very very funny how the scene ended. From memory, Dudley's violin exploded ha ha. And, Dudley actually played the violin in that particular scene.. a very talented man.
Thanks again, Lora. The irony is, i started working on this peace yesterday...spooky, eh?
That's a very fascinating story... unfortunately most of the times Lora doesn't read comments here on UA-cam, please, post them (as well as your questions) on this video's dedicated page on VSM: www.virtualsheetmusic.com/experts/lora/czardas/
After 7 years your still helping me hope she’s doing well
This video has been so helpful. I've taken alot of the glissando tips and techniques from this video. My teacher was like, 'where did you learn all this??!
Fantastic! Glad it was helpful.
Thanks for your visual tutorials demo, i have consumed 2/3 of the favorite violin during 2 weeks time of social distance here. I will try my best effort to complete the practice & memorize all notes.
Thanks for your endeavor time to be here in UA-cam....

I have played the violin for one and a half year, my teacher said at first that I needed to play for 3/4 years to play this song.

I am so impressed by your ability to explain this ! Thank you !
An idea about playing more comfortable without a shoulder rest and chin rest.
With two way tape I placed a piece of perforated rubber mat used to keep dishes from slipping on a kitchen counter. It grips well and is very comfortable. I’ll never use a shoulder or chin rest any more.
This was really helpful and I found it easy to follow your techniques. Terrific Job! Thanks for uploading.

This was incredible THANK YOU! (also, 8:27)
Great lesson, I am sure I will learn a lot from it. One small suggestion I have is maybe move the notes up to the upper right corner as to not block the view of your bowing. I am trying to get double stops under my fingers and ears. Do you have any how to plays pieces with a variety of intervals in double stops integrated?
You are right about the music covering Lora's hands, unfortunately at that time we couldn't do better. About your question, please, post it on Lora's page on VSM, Lora doesn't answer questions here on UA-cam: www.virtualsheetmusic.com/experts/lora/
Great tips 👌
My violin teacher told me to learn this but watching all these notes is so intimidating
Learned a lot from this, think it’s really useful. Thank you!
