    Glad they made it! Ryobi always comes out with some of the most practical and useful tools!
    When I was on the road more than I am lately I carried a Oz Charge super cap based jump pack and it worked great (especially jumping from flat batteries)! It didn't like to take the higher voltage from a Ryobi pack to power it up though but I carry some m12 stuff as well and if I had ever needed that I'm pretty sure it would have worked.
    The Oz Charge being able to jump from anyone elses battery, or even from my own dead battery was pretty awesome though.

    Excellent explanation thanks, you are the man as the battery size was the predominant wuestion on my mind. Excellent tool I just relegated my heavy lead acid Stamley 1200 unit to home ohine charger use and my USB charger Audex as a gift.

    Great video with great information. I’ve been waiting for someone to build this. I have a feeling Milwaukee will make one with a compressor and better capacitors. It’s like the tire inflators now everyone makes one. Only a matter of time. I will probably buy this since I have the battery’s and only need it for emergency situations.

      Update. I purchased this a few days after I wrote the previous comment. My wife’s car wouldn’t start and locked her brake peddle down. I drove out 40 minutes to see what was wrong and it seemed like it was low battery issue. So I used the jump starter and it worked great. Didn’t take long for it to prime. I really think people worried about the one minute priming time is over reacting. I’d much rather have this set up then the one that has an internal battery I got tied of every time I needed it was half dead and needed to be charged. I would recommend this jump starter. By the way I took the wife’s car to a place that ran diagnostic on her battery and her battery ended up having a bad cell. New battery and problem solved.

    Great video and a lot of testing. This is a great product, very easy operation. I assume that the electronics inside will limit the charging current for the capacitors, so very little difference, regardless of the battery capacity. Only the number of the cycles is different. Maybe older batteries with increased internal resistance will take longer to charge the capacitors. But anyway the jumpstarter is good in emergency situations. 👍👍👍

    I was curious if you took any notice to the battery levels on the batteries after you ran your tests... like how many bars was left on the 4 ah, 4ah hp,n 8ah hp batteries after u did the cold n warm primes

    The only problem is the 8amp batteries not fitting! Hopefully Ryobi comes out with a new model with more space in the battery compartment.

    This is cool. I have an Autowit super cap jump starter. This combo is very interesting. Can this be used without a Ryobi battery but use a dead battery to charge the caps? The Autowit only needs 6v dc to charge, however, the deader the battery the longer it can take to charge. You can even use a 5vdc power bank to charge the Autowit but it can take up to 30 minutes. So I find a good 12vdc power source to charge the cap fast. Then move the cap to the dead battery and let'r rip.
    I wonder how long this thing will last.

    I just got mine and tried testing it out on my Z570 snowmobile with no battery attached. First try cranked it great, second try did good as well, but on the third try, my unit started turning off completely and killing any power coming out. The unit would also not turn back on. Upon checking the battery, (which was a full 6ah hp) it was flashing 1 light. I removed it and the battery went back to 4 lights, put it back into the tool and it turned on, tried it again and after a second... same thing. The unit shut off and the battery shows 1 flashing light. I tried this several more times with the same results. So now I'm not sure if I have a defective battery, or if my unit isn't operating properly? I need to do some more testing, but it does seem to function fine in prime mode with that same 6ah hp battery.

    And also have you used thatbew 8ah battery like in a normal tool your used to running? Drill or impact or recip saw or sumn?
    I wanna know what people's opinions are of the 21700 batteries on their ryobi tools..
    I hope youd see a reasonable boost in overall power and duration in the tools that demand more power. Recip, circ saw, angle grinder, chainsaw etc.. id hope those 21700s would make these tools just go super sayian lol.

    My yellow prime light takes forever or intermittent. Not sure what the overdue button is overriding.

    • @bzeug
      @bzeug  Місяць тому +1

      Override button is used when an error condition exists such as a missing or ruined 12v lead acid battery. It overrides the error.
