Are you going to try to persuade him to do a tandem Sun Trip Jack? How many times would you have appreciated having that comfy camping stool during your races?

@StartledPancake it's not off the table haha. Also I've almost bought that chair so many times!

Seems like a perfect day. Don't you mind sharing the private spot coordinates at the breath-taking lake scene? I hope my bike battery might take me there to have a cup of coffee and feed some mosquitos there.

Please don't mind my arrogance. By watching you video further, I believe this might be special space of yours and does not to be disclosed.

I don’t mind at all! I actually wanted to include the coordinates in the video, but I wasn’t entirely sure at the time. After digging through my old My Maps folders, I found it - the spot is called 'Udriku Suurjärv,' and nearby there’s also 'Udriku Väikejärv.' Now I’m not entirely sure if I visited both or just one of them. By the way, it’s great to hear from you after a while!

Lovely scenery there buddy. Really like how you make these trips not about the distance itself, but rather about enjoying the journey. Thanks for the giving all the detailed consumption stats also, makes for a very handy reference.
There is something suspicious about how much nature seems to like to attack you though, however Ill not speculate on the reasons for it.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the scenery and the focus on the journey rather than just the distance.
Here, it’s winter right now-gray, dark days with no sun, and I’ve been feeling a bit down because of it. Making this video was my way of lifting my spirits, like stepping into a time machine to relive those moments. It reminded me how much I love being on the road, just riding and exploring wherever the path takes me.
As for nature ‘attacking’ me, I suppose I’d rather take that than a car hitting me! But yeah, let’s not speculate too much on why that happens. 😅

@@DatEbikeGuy The production and editing is really good, guess the long cold nights are useful for something.
A winter stop? If only. Thanks to your (and also Jacks) terrible inspiration, I ended building my own long distance electric recumbent and am currently training through the winter in order to make a trip in the spring. Each time my crotch fills up with freezing rain, I curse the moment I ever came across your channel ;).

@@StartledPancake Thanks, I love your humor! I ride year-round too, even in -15°C cold, but mostly for my daily commute - about 40 km round trip. My goal has always been to inspire people, so I’m genuinely happy to hear that! Even if it means you're cursing my channel while freezing your… um, important parts. 😄 Hang in there - spring will be worth it! By the way, I’m curious - how long of a trip are you planning for the spring?

@@DatEbikeGuy That is some hard core commuting, no wonder you make these mega rides look so easy.
My trip is from the Netherlands (great biking) to France (also great biking). Unfortunately in-between is Belgium, where the drivers behave like the seagull in your latest video. "Only" 500km, 2 maybe 3 days not 1 like you would do;). Ive taken a lot from your setups, and have built a bike thats comfortable and sturdy rather than high performance. Only a 1 or 2 kwh battery, but its lifepo4 so can charge at 500w easily and was very cheap. Again thanks for all the info you've provided on this channel, it was really invaluable.
Whats your next destination going to be? Any interest in doing a sun trip with Jack?

@@StartledPancake My recumbent bike actually came from the Netherlands, and every time someone mentions that country, I’m reminded of how bike-friendly it is - truly the best place for cycling! 😊
If you have the time, definitely take it slow and enjoy the sights on your trip. From my own experience, I’ve often rushed during tours and later regretted not taking the time to explore more. A 1-2 kWh battery is actually great, especially if you maximize your pedal power. 💪
Jack seems like such a humble guy - riding with him on a Sun Trip must be an incredible experience! I’ve been following those journeys, and they’re so inspiring. Personally, I’ve never dreamed of doing one myself, but I love watching and cheering from the sidelines while adventuring closer to home.
Right now, I’ve got material for two more episodes: one featuring a trailer review and another about a 3-day, 730 km trip I did with my commuter bike and a cargo trailer. If you’re curious, I posted a sneak peek photo from that trip on Instagram about 27 weeks ago - a couple of posts back!
In the future, I’d like to break my 450 km single-day record - it seems like quite a challenge! I’ve considered attempting it with my Enduro bike, which would make it even more demanding. However, I’ll probably stick to my recumbent… but we’ll see!
BTW, speaking of Instagram, do you share your bike or adventures on any social platforms? Or do you prefer to keep things private? If so, I totally respect that - privacy is something I value too.

I am curious how you solved the mounting for the Coho XC to you hub motor. I was evaluating different trailers for my e-bikes but at least for my general purpose e-bike with a big axle hub motor in the rear similar to yours the mounting adapters and special axle nuts / quick releases do not work. I am still searching a working solution to attach a trailer to both my general purpose bike and my fat bike which has an BBS HD motor and standard QR hub in 195 mm. 3D printing to the rescue ?

    • @DatEbikeGuy
      @DatEbikeGuy  3 дні тому

Hey. It’s actually quite simple! You might have seen videos where custom torque arms are made by filing them to match the width of the motor axle. The same concept applies here, but instead of a small torque arm, you use a larger metal profile. Then, you drill a second hole for the rod where the Coho custom adapter (e.g., M10 x 1.0) can be attached.
I’ll be covering this in more detail in an upcoming video, which should be out either at the end of this month or early next month. Hope you find it helpful!

@@DatEbikeGuy Ah, this sounds like a feasibly approach. How much width difference does the Coho allow ? While those nuts with round balls are always identical in height I guess dropouts still vary a lot in thickness.
