I bought mine after watching your previous PS2 HDMI solutions comparison video a couple of weeks ago. To my surprise, I was previously using component cables (the very same you have shown in this video) and while the image looks good with them, my tv does not support 240p over component for PS1 games. But with the PS2 to HDMI not only the image looks exactly the same as before but now I can play 240p PS1 games over HDMI !!! (oh and again, using the same tv/monitor you are using in this video, a slightly different/older model number but from the same generation, it looks the same externally at least).
Just upgraded my TV to a 55" which no longer has the component connection, so I'm gonna get one of these. Thanks for the great comparisons, much love from England
@@HMCuber am curious too :D I also have the same problem, I buyed 55" TV and it doesnt have AV input so am kinda curious how the image will look like. But Am goin to order that HDMI converter anyway and I will see.
@@Emet-wd5mz From my research, the actual quality of ps2 games with this HDMI adapter will vary depending on your TV. I believe the newer the TV the worse by nature the graphics will be a bit less crisp because the ps2 wasn't made for these newer tvs. I believe the hdmi adapter will allow you to get the best quality you can though, and it will also make the ps2 full screen.
@@HMCuber SOOOO update :D I got it, conected it to my TV, did a lil corections and boyyyyyy that PS2 on that huge ass TV looks AMAZING. This dongle works very well. Also works great on my ps3, which I found when the hdmi output died on that machine. Only gripe is that the power port is in an odd place and is in the way of the hdmi port. Bad design choice, but otherwise good product.
Where are you even supposed to find the information on what's compatible with what model. 70% of these comments are people asking if their PS2 is compatible.
What do you mean the PS2 to HDMI does not work with every system? All PS2's support YPbPr. If you are not getting a picture, the component output mode is probably set to RGB. You need to first go into the settings and make sure the PS2 is set to output YPbPr.
Just ordered one. Seen a few vids on this on your channel. Looks like the best one, and at $5 Australian. A pretty good deal. I have component cables but they're pretty cheap and offer a slightly better picture. I think it probably looks better as it doesn't offer any type of upscaling. It's just the raw component image. You can always use GSM to handle that
@@MichaelM28 Really? Oh well. Can't expect too much at $5. If it's that bad I'll just stick with component. Not willing to pay over $100 AU for an OSCC as that's just over kill in my situation.

I own one, but never used it. Got it on the begin of the pandemic, and trew it in a drawer and that is where it is still today. But going to use it in the futre, when i upgrade my console with a HDD/MX4iso thing.
it works ok and it’s cheap and easy to use, but for some games it’s no good. it makes some games look out of proportion, and in most cases it ruins the brightness making any game with dark sequences unplayable
I have only one issue with the ps2 to HDMI adapter is the stress it puts on the ps2 port if you have to move the console. I have no real issue with the stress it puts on adapter connector as worse case scenario, they are dirt cheap to replace. Other than that, its great bang for the buck, and so much better than the bit more expensive ps2 to hdmi cables that I thought would resolve my issues with the port stress, but seem to just be composite quality with the ugly old composite dot crawl. I ended up sticking some foam padding on the bottom in the end to just give it that bit of extra support, though I do unplug if I have to move it.
I bought one of these and it works fine until after the game loads the playstation 2 logo and will go on for a few seconds afterwards then my tv says no signal
I've tried everything!, followed several tutorials on this, they all guide the same, yet mine doesn't work?. All that happens is the playstation makes loud droning sounds and the tray disc shoots out at lighting speed??
I got the PS2 to HDMI dongle and am really happy with it. I originally had cheap component cables and a Portta hdmi adapter. The picture wasn't bad at all, but the Portta sometimes shows these "ghost lines" that drive me nuts. I popped for the HD retrovision cables and the PS2 to HDMI dongle. Straight into component input on my tv the HD Retrovision cables have a much better image than the cheap cables, but through the Portta they perform the same. The PS2 to HDMI dongle is pretty much the same as well, but with way less wiring. Also, I never played Outrun before but had to try it to test the 480p. Amazing! The game is actually pretty easy too. Good times... So in short, if you have component input... get the HD Retrovision cables. If you only have HDMI input the PS2 to HDMI dongle is the way to go unless you have an OSSC.
That's a resolution and interlace issue. You'll need an upscaler to make the picture even better. This is just a native PS2 image from this. You can use GSM on a FreeMcBoot to give you a slightly better image. But an upscaler like an OSCC is something you may want to look at
