I like Tp-Link a lot. I have converted almost every light switch in my home to Tp-Link switches.
I agree. TP link switches are simply reliable.
After seeing this video, makes me think about getting one now. Great job going over everything.
Thanks!
Hi Dear, Thanks for your instruction video. As I don't have a current door bell, I need to know the DC voltage of the kasa KD110 to buy a transformer to installed it , Could you please advise as I am waiting for mine to arrive. Thanks
From their FAQ page:
it requires your doorbell wiring coming with a transformer that provides 16-24VAC and minimum 10VA output power, which is commonly used in house doorbell systems.
Thank you for your help and quick response
I mean usually when service is free you are the product for theses companies. Dunno if paying for a service actually guarantee's your or more privacy though.
While these products usually works fine and aimed at certain types of people, I'll probably have more fun on a crude setup made on a raspberry pi. Hopefully you have a video in mind.
Is your SD card a high performance? I don’t get that problems with my Samsung Pro Endurance card and don’t have any issues.
I have a lot of Kasa in the house, and tp-link in a separate usage case, I hope this does the trick
Great vid and upfront on pros and cons 👍
Appreciate it!
On the hompage of product, it states clearly that a subscription is needed to use cloud services. I guess notifications are sent via the cloud and that is why a subscription is needed.
Great video. I installed mine. Only one thing is the jumper cable for the existing bell. Do we really need to put the jumper cable or leave as it was? Thks
So, which one you end up with? Do you use any? Thanks
Does your phone get notifications when motion is detected?
Does your phone get notification when the doorbell is rung?
Or do you need the $3 subscription for these to happen?
I've got mine set to get notifications when the bell is pressed and I don't have the subscription
@@DBTechYT how
@@Mcdashiznit In the app. Go to settings for the device via the gear icon in the top right. Go down to Notifications and select the notifications you want.
Questions:
1. What do the doorbell wires do? Is this for power? What’s on the other end of the those wires? Is there an AC adaptor? Currently, my wires go into the AC adaptor of my Aiphone video doorbell.
2. Is there a more angled mounting bracket available? My Aiphone installed in the door jam so it needs about 40 degrees to see person standing in front of door. That little Kasa angle bracket ain’t gonna do it for me.
To bad the kd110 doesn't support device sharing. I really wanted to like this camera but unfortunately returning. Kasa has had complaints about the lack of this features since 2019 and their best shot at it has been to tell folks to share their app account login settings to be able to share the kd110 with others. Lame solution. I was ok w paying for the cloud storage but this was the dealbreaker.
I am looking to buy a Kasa Doorbell cam or an Eufy doorbell cam at this moment. I got a coupel of questions.
1. What about the image quality of this Kasa one compared to other brands like Ring, Arlo, Wyze, etc?
2. In terms of the detection records you said, when getting a notification on your phone, where will it direct you to if you click the notification?
Did you ever figure that out using the cloud and not a ssd card or do you have to use both the subscription and the SS card?
@@gamingbattlegames1225Not really. I ended up buying Eufy😂But I think you can use cloud only.
With all Wi-Fi security cameras you do have to pay for extended cloud storage, I have Zimmermall Wi-Fi security cameras it has a SIM card in it, I’m able to save some data but it I wanted more I do have to purchase the cloud, but I do plan on switching to the Kasa brand only because I have purchased the echo dot 5th generation and the Kasa Wi-Fi smart power strip and smart bulbs so I don’t want to have to many security apps plus I seen good reviews with the Kasa brands.
I never pay for the additional storage options for my camera setup. I store everything locally on their SD cards.
@@DBTechYT yes fact I have not pay for the extra storage because of the SIM card as well, but I the future when I move in my house I do want to turn it into a smart home and I do like the Kasa smart home, right now I just have a smart apartment 🤣🤣🤣
What kind of screwdriver Works to get the SD card slot screws out? I've tried the tiniest eyeglass screwdriver, and those suckers won't budge😮
It's definitely a bit of a pain sometimes. It's often easier to use a full-size screwdriver with a small point rather than a small eyeglass screwdriver because it's harder to get a good grip and leverage with the small screwdriver
Can this work with my existing chime or do I have to use the plug-in chime provided? Thanks!

What is the SD card for in the doorbell? Why can't you just access and see that video and if the videos are saved to the card how big a card did you use and what was your video resolution and how long before SD car was full?
The card is to view past recordings. The card doesn't fill up. Once it gets to a certain point, it starts recording over the oldest data
All videos are also encrypted. Can't just pop out the card and view/transfer to PC. Can ONLY be viewed in the app.
To backup the files that YOU OWN is a royal PIA. Not specific to TP-Link though. All brands do this.
It doesn't matter which wire goes where because the power source is low voltage AC (16-24V).
A basic button is only a switch but these actually consume power.
It's been a year, has anything been resolved on these issues?
my dude. it's been a year. you're going to have to be more specific about which issues
I have a question. Is this waterproof?
I Googled "kasa doorbell". The first result was the webpage for the device. About 3/4 of the way down the page, I found this: "IP64 Weatherproof
IP64 certified weatherproofing ensures your doorbell stays protected against rain and dust."
@@DBTechYT Thank you friend.
I am still looking for a doorbell product that does not invade your privacy and does not require a company to exist to use.
Then you're going to have to build your own
I can not connect
Sorry to hear that. Mine actually quit connecting to my phone/wifi after about a year. Hoping it's not planned obsolesce. Either way, I bought a new one and replaced the broken one. Might go for a different brand next time.
what I am after in a video doorbell is the ability to the camera feed to my nvr
Same here
What a bait and switch.. not being able to download local storage is ridiculous
Yeah. That's why I wanted to point it out in the video. Just so people would know.
@@DBTechYT I'm not sure why people say that because you are able to do it from your phone just hit the record button on your video and it will save it to your phone. Or remove the SD card and you can save the clips from there I've done it both ways It works perfectly.
@@PaulMedeirosUA-cam Recordings to you phone are not encrypted but limited to manual control. Whole point of a smart device is automation.
Meanwhile files on local SD card storage are encrypted, only accessible within the app.
Pay for a cloud service where all my video and audio would be available to this company? No thanks.
Horrible video and very biased opinion....It's essentially a paid video!!!
They sent me the product. I documented the install process. I stated all this clearly in the video. I received nothing other than the product in exchange for the product. I don't accept money to make product videos.
What about the video was horrible? What makes you think it's biased or that it's a paid video? Please be as specific as possible.
In his defense, and in a way kasas defense, there are now nearly 1,300 brands that have produced over 24,000 distinct Android devices. Writing software for every variable device hardware is not easy.
I've seen video reviews of this doorbell talking about the pay wall.. But months later conten creators are not keeping up when updates remove some of them. They do too many gadgets to keep up. I prefer to get my insight from videos with titles like "my thoughts of X product after 1 year".
I appreciate the real time frustration not being edited out. That alone makes this video not a paid sponsor but honest.
