  • This is a video giving my general thoughts and opinions of the very popular Yashica T5.
Overall, I think this is a fantastic plastic film point and shoot, mainly due to the T5's incredibly reliable autofocus and sharp lens. However, once you factor in the inflated price for this camera and its lack of settings, it becomes hard to justify shelling out the money to buy a T5 (or even a T4, which is slightly cheaper).
    CORRECTIONS:
    - I forgot to mention that the T5 has a fill flash mode.
    Film used:
Kodak Portra 400, and a few shots with Kodak Ultramax 400
    Music used:
    Biscuit (Prod. by Lukrembo)

Nice I recommend Yashica T original for hobbiest that want same lens. 1/4 the price but harder to find

Absolutely agree, a nice camera with an overinflated pricepoint. I've been using one for about 12 years and always had good results, but only realised a few years ago it's "legendary" status, and was slightly baffled.

It's a shame that this camera's price point has become so overinflated over the years. It is a great camera, but at it's current price point it's hard for most to justify buying the T5, even in spite of its so called 'legendary' status

If you like a 4 element Tessar lens there are alot of other cameras with better build quality with the same lens.

      Examples please!

@@sexysilversurfer Right off the top of my head there is the Zeiss Ikon Contaflex and they go for about 40 dollars. It is all metal and glass and clockwork mechanics. There is also the Voightlander Vito cameras from around same era with a Color Skopar which was Voightlander's variant of the Tessar Design. You can get a Zorki Rangefinder with a Industar 50 which again is all based on the same lens design and in this case the lens is interchangeable. Or if you like the TLR and medium format the Lubitel 166B uses the same lens design. There are alot of options. Most of these are under 100 dollars. With the Lubitel the build quality is about on par with plastic point and shoot but if something goes wrong on a Lubitel you can actually fix those.

So are the T4 and T5 the same picture quality?

    • @leonc.6488
      @leonc.6488  4 роки тому +1

Yeah, the T4 and T5 have the exact same picture quality because they both share the same lens :)

Leon C. And what film do you recommend for nights pics like gunner?

@@eh1354 Kodak portra 400 has given me some great results for night shots, but I think I heard in a video that gunner used an 400 iso or 800iso Fujifilm back in the day! Either should be fine imo

A good alternative is the Yashica T2 which has basically the same lens system but in a more bulky 1980s 'brick' type design.
I have one in my collection.
Agreed about the price, I think it is a bit inflated due to online hype but as you say it will increaee in value as they become harder to find, it's all about supply and demand.
