Thanks for the briefing! I haven’t worked field day in decades, but you’ve motivated me to go find one. I’m a full time RVer with ham stations in both my RVs, but I hesitated to try FD operations since I was frankly confused by the logging stuff.
My club goes so far out into the sticks I couldn't go there if I wanted and there's not a chance in hades that the media are going to find them for outreach. It's more out of tradition I think. Thanks for posting this video encourages me just a bit about thinking about doing something next year.
Looks like they don't understand what Field Day is about. It is not about Remote Operation, it is about Public Exposure, Recruiting, and Youth Involvement. Out club here does it at a county park and the Lightning detector goes off over and over and they lost over 5 hours of operating time and it is like this every year, yet they keep going back! Truth is you can do Field Day at home as either a "D" station or an "E" station.
"Logging computer" - Sorry, just contemplating why most of us choose not to get nekkid and jump in the complexity pile in the name of "fun operating event". "Points"? OK - Each to his or her own.
MY SON AND I DID FIELD DAY FROM THE BACK YARD INSIDE THE MOTOR HOME , while eating our lunch we wrote down our rules. 1 st rule: there are no rules 😂😎
I Love Those Rules!
