The Beatles changed my life. I was one of those million boys who went out and got themselves an electric guitar. I'm so glad their influence on me came from such a positive place. "All You Need Is Love" baby!

i take the Arguably out of it....for me they are the undisputed, greatest band of the 20th century. My 2nd & 3rd grade memories involve The Beatles breaking up in spring of 69, and buying the Let it Be single, with You Know my Name (Look up the Number) as the b side late the next spring.
This has been one of my favorite albums since I was 6!!! Thank you for this!

I played an Abbey Road tribute show and attempted to learn George's guitar parts in the choruses of Maxwell's Silver Hammer. I concluded it was two guitar tracks with each guitar playing different double-stops. I was convinced once I recorded it myself at home.

Once again i am enlightened with 'Beatle' talk re: The playing /recording of the music and personalities that made me wanting to play guitar's (etc)....AND how it was recorded. i would listen to one speaker at a time,and try to imagine what sized room they were playing in ...and also slow down the records and listen too. Great stuff then , that still sounds and feels great. I was to replace a valve in a toilet today ,but, i HAD to listen/watch this......i can fix the toilet later. this was awesome.....and lucky for me i have almost all the WAVES plugins.
"Something" guitar solo is in my all time top 5, possibly in at #2. Also my favorite Beatles song (A Day in the Life in at #2). Revolver is my favorite album, Abbey Road in at #2.

Again, truly awesome and informative and so much info about an all time great album. This question is sorta out of context but would it be possible to do a breakdown of the Black Veil Bride’s “Carolyn”? The lyrics “you’re not alone, we’ll brave this storm” are so pertinent at this time, as was the breakdown of “How to Save a Life”. Greetings and gratitude to you Warren. The Grateful Dead youtube channel did a fundraiser today, Shakedown Street’89 (great live recorded show btw), and I think the fundraiser for your Academy, . My favorite Beatles album is the U.S. (Capitol) version of "Rubber Soul."
The guy who said that he could do without the whole third disc of 'All Things Must Pass' is infuriating. 'Out of the Blue' is extraordinary, and the only track I want to hear from the album these days. It sounds like something from Nightmares On Wax or a Bill Laswell project from the nineties, 25 years ahead of its time.
And the guy who agrees with him is just as infuriating.
Paperback Writer was Geoff Emerick and he didn't use Direct Injection to get the Bass sound. Emerick felt that DI was lazy. What he and Ken Townsend devised was a way to use a speaker placed right up against the front of the Bass amp, figuring if a speaker could push air it could also pick it up. Emerick was promoted to Beatles engineer in April of 1966. Tomorrow Never Knows was started on April 6, 1966 and Paperback Writer was started April 13, 1966. The only time Emerick would take a Bass direct was when John was playing it, fearing he might make a mistake that would get into the room and get picked up by the other mics. In retrospect if The Beatles had recorded Revolver at Stax it would have been a disaster. That studio could at times be pretty funky!

I'd love to know, if any of you read the comments of this video, but when did Paul use a VOX AC50 or AC100 on records, I know live he used them but were they recorded before the Fender Era.

Lennon's Plastic Ono Band Album was recorded bare bones sonically because the content and writing was reflective of the Primal Scream Therapy that he had just finished. He called the album " Sargent Lennon" because it was pure and no bull shit.
Yes. Always look for original mix. That's the ultimate version.

It comes to mind that at least 1/3 of Abbey Road could be considered a "3EATLES" album...by my calculation LENNON does not appear on MAXWELL, HERE COMES THE SUN, GOLDEN SLUMBERS/CARRY THAT WEIGHT and I believe he may NOT be on SOMETHING in the final mix either although he initially worked on the song, maybe on piano that was wiped. Of corse his contribution are SO FANTASTIC in his songs that no one notices. Thanks.
I thought someone said that to get the bass sound on Paperback Writer, they converted a speaker into a microphone and recorded it that way. Yet, here, you say it was direct into the console. I wonder which version of the story is true?
Me recollection is TaxMan uses the speaker micing a speaker, I’m pretty sure that’s what Geoff Emerick told me?
@@Producelikeapro I may be getting the two confused. I was sure I read that they had indeed used a speaker as a mike (really unusual) and recorded Paperback Writer that way. It may well have been Taxman.
@Jesse H in the chat...i almost bought an Allen Sides Ocean Way mic for under $400....but i was always gonna buy the Lewitt 441 flex...and i have ZERO regrets. :)

Geoff Emerick was not a fan of the TG mix of AR. He wrote in his book that it was a much darker mix and preferred the Redd desks.
I've recently heard All things Must Pass without all of the Spetor production and I think it is far better.
But..I Want You (She 's So Heavy) was recorded at Trident Studios. Not Abbey Road
i find it interesting that we all love to further our technique , and yet george and ringo were not the most tech minded players .. the beatles are a good reminder that ....
you dont need to be "impressive" on your instrument - if the songs are already impressive enough .....also some of the parts on the LP seem so short , i want to hear them again ...but less is more i suppose , i struggled to play simply for a while ....now, its a case of "how can i make this even more simple "

i sorta disagree with Clay about their jamming ability...i'd figure the time in Hamburg, when playing 12 hours daily, they had to break into jams, if nothing else to fill space.

The beginning jams of "I Want You" that are on youtube are awful... it goes to show you how over time their songs evolved and progressed to a level that became brilliant.
If Jerry is such a pro when it comes to producing music, how come his own sound comes across so tinny and distorted? It's nearly always like that with old Jerry: he just seems to be incapable of arranging his own studio, like some amateur with a cheap laptop.... Strange guy, that. 🙁
