What is Train Sim World 2020?

- This is a brief introduction to Train Sim World 2020, giving you a few ideas of what you can do in the simulator and how it may be different from other rail or transport sims you've played. Giving you a look at all 4 of the routes included in the 2020 version of TSW you'll get an idea of whether this is the right game for you.
BIAS NOTE: I work part time for the publishers of Train Sim World. As such if you look at this as a review of the game it's not going to be very objective, now is it? It's not a review, and I only suggest you buy it if you fancy playing it. If you're not interested in playing it might I suggest you give this one a miss? You're a grown up, you can decide for yourself.
Included routes: Great Western Railways, Northern Transpennine, Long Island Railroad and Main Spessart Bahn.

(*) - Today's secret: The first take I did at this was just awful. Yes, haha, you're very funny, you could argue this final take isn't much better, but trust me... the first attempt was dull, dry and deeply uninspiring. This one at least involves me accidentally triggering the emergency brake. Good times.
For the first several minutes of this video there was a gentleman speaking in even tones explaining things in a kindly manner and driving like he was a professional. Then the Colonel arrived and all of that changed. I'm particularly fond of the idea of him taking over the train at Hicksville. ;)
I love that you start so proper and professional; however, several minutes later the usual shinnagens started. Loved it!
Watching this man drive these trains is oddly satisfying.

Nope the Colonel is too qualified for LIRR work as he actually sped up in order to arrive on time whereas a proper LIRR conductor would never be on schedule.
I'm retired and looking for sim games, watched a few about the trains, yours is the best and convinced me to get this. :)

Been thinking about buying this game followed by the second one. I was expecting a professional review of the game, instead i found myself laughing at times throughout this video. This guy's sense of humor is awesome. Earned a sub from me 👍
Cheers Paul. In case you didn't know already I work for the developer. If you want to dip a toe in the water try TSW 2 (it improves on the previous). If you want the older routes too, the base game will convert it's routes to work in the newer game.
Being from Long Island I always love hearing people pronounce Long Island town names. Also there's a weird disconnect from watching the train route I always took to NY city. This version is definitely from a cleaner universe.
I know right, I transferred at Hicksville all the time 😂... as for the names Wyandanch and Huappauge take the cake in pronunciation vs appearance
Love playing this sim.. spend all my time on the GWR line. I find it oddly calming, driving the HST's and little commuter trains

I secretly love trains but I will never become an anorak standing on a bridge with a camera... no, I'll just be an anorak and purchase the game in its complete glory, yes, I have just purchased the collector's edition of TSW 2020 and all those DLC's. I am now skint.
This simulator is so very relaxing.
My favourite train is that Red locomotive with the cab in the middle from the,.. 70's? Urm, 60's? It's diesel. (Move on Stuart, move on, your looking like an idiot).

I've been playing ets2 and ats and was wondering if something like that existed in the world of trains. This looks sweet!
Debated buying this game during the end of the year PS4 sale. I played one of the train sim games years ago on PC and enjoyed it. This video sold me on this one.

This was done in 2 parts:
Firstly in a professional style followed by, I've had enough of that, lets step it up a notch with proper Colonel antics.

Wonderful tutorial. I think i learned something just not sure yet what it was.
For it's faults it's a game I really enjoy playing. Especially the Northern Transpennine route.

It's a good job we have colonel failure able to give us all a few tips{from his vast experence} on how to hose every objective in the game the easy way, EG the faster you drive the later and more behind schedule you get.

I sat on my train for a hour on the 80's route with the 45's and 47's (Forget the name xD), it was fun!

@@class317 hey yes I'm enjoying it actually but downside is seems to be some issues. Train losing power or doors refusing to open, passengers not boarding. These little issues then leave me running late ..some reason I can't leave this game alone!!!
Still think you should play Zusi 3. The hilarity would be extreme amusement, especially expressed by laughter.
Run 8 would be a good one too, shame it lacks any mission structure though (outside of running consists that you/AI set up).

Game has very nice graphics and I just find it relaxing playing it. Better than train simulator 20XX which looks outdated and unoptimized
I used to own a few train sims from the early- mid 2000s and I enjoyed them. Would you recommend this game to someone who someone who just wants a trip down memory lane from his childhood? I was the type that just like to drive the train and enjoy the scenery .
Yeah it's pretty good. The only downside is there isn't really a modding community because the developers wanna dole out dlc for people to buy. I've had just the base game. I've got about 40hrs on it. Sometimes when I'm on a long route I'll just have the trains speed set and go make a coffee. Definitely recommend if you're just trying to chill.

@@kingsid24 Well I mean there is no modding community at all from what I can see. Dovetail games doesn't seem to encourage or want it. I don't have the deluxe edition but if you're getting it at a decent price then I'd go for it. Look into other sims too! Graphics wise, tsw takes the cake so far lol.

There are doors and such.. But the bathroom doors in the passenger cars and engine(locomotive) don't open :(
Also fun, get the train going - and jump out... and watch it go on without you. haha
Thats one of the problem with the game, it's TOO easy to flip to Emergency brake.

I’m still confused by the 2 games with similar names. I have TSW 2020 on my PS4 and, although I enjoy it, mine seems to be a very watered down version of TSW (!) with many more wonderful scenarios. In August, there’s the release of TSW2....does that mean there’ll be TSW 2020 2 for the PS4? Why is there this dicotamy? Where is. Att when you need him😉
Question, when I try the AC4400, the throttle goes to N1 and not 1. Any CSX Engineers here that know why? Because I can't even haul a 40 Car consist of empty coal cars

One would think that for as many hours as you have with this game, you would be a professional driver by now...Perhaps you have a learning disability. Of course I only kid, but really, you might think about scheduling some tests. :) I bought this game 3 or 4 months ago and have logged less than 3 hours on it. I'm to busy still building a route in TS2020. Someday I'll get around to TSW. 'Til then I live vicariously through your videos of the game. Thanks for all the entertainment Mr. Failure.

Hey Colonel, please tell your pals at Dovetail that it doesn´t make much sense to allow to change keyboard settings but then display only the original settings and not the actual settings in in-game tutorials. Every fucking indie developer gets this done perfectly, that really shouldn´t be asked too much of a professional publisher like dovetail

I always wait till the routes I want are on 50% off, or more, sales, even if it means waiting a good while. Bugger paying $42 AUD to kick around the back blocks of Canada.
Xbox game pass just added this game into their catalogue. Their monthly subscription is currently £1pm as of now.I just paid £2 for two months.. I mean 2 pounds is nothing for two months for this game plus you can play other good games with the subscription like Forza horizon 4, gear 5
