    I totally agree! people are complaining that there’s “too much to do” and that they “dont know what to do anymore minecraft is so boring” yet they dont want to go down in the cave and explore the beautiful lush caves or the mysterious ancient city (also can we talk about how he only has 650 subs like get hik some more!)

    I feel like, because they were dedicated to keep updating, there was no way they could have EVER preserved the original simplicity of Minecraft, as it would always eventually become more complex. And so to judge it by the same standard is comparing apples to oranges.
    Sure, it doesn't have the original simplistic charm, but it has a new identity, and that's perfectly fine, too.

    5:59 the thing is. That was the update that made Mojang scared of updating the game too much because there were so many people hating the new terrain generation.

      I think it was moreso because Caves and Cliffs was too ambitious for one update and they were forced to split it, which started a negative feedback loop that continues to spiral to this day.

    hi just watched completely through! I never leave comments but your editing, research, and commentary is very well put together and linear with the topic of the video. Shocks me that you don't have more subscribers however I bet that'll change soon. I think Minecraft updates overall have changed it's projection since the early days but that definitely isn't a bad thing like you said, one thing I just hope for is that Mojang doesn't screw up 1.12. Yes, Minecrafts identity has changed throughout the years; through death by a thousand cuts.
    By youtubers making completely different content now compared to how it used to be. Through the game having a ton of new content, which is good, but some people feel is excess bloat (whether they are correct or not is debatable). Through the way people approach the game and play it shifting from a sandboxy style of doing whatever you feel like to racing to kill the Ender Dragon.
    Through the game having added the Ender Dragon in the first place, shifting the game from a purely intrinsically motivated game (do what YOU want) to a game that can be played as intrinsically OR extrinsically motivated (extrinsically being to do what your TOLD to do).
    Through the fact that the game seems to get grindier and grindier every update, albeit old Minecraft had grinding for blocks, but now you have XP grinding, Gold farms, Iron farms, Gunpowder farms, searching for hours to locate smithing templates or elytras, and often there are no alternative ways to get these resources besides grinding.
    You want lots of gunpowder but you dont want to build a gunpowder farm? Looks like your killing as many creepers as you can every night for real life HOURS just to get a few stacks. You want to play with the new trident but dont want to build a trident farm? Looks like your killing drowned for real life hours. Want lots of XP but dont want to build an XP farm? Looks like your, yes, you guessed it, spending hours of your time grinding for it.
    Even if you look at the smaller things, you see the identity of Minecraft changing. We went from travelling in Minecarts, to riding on horses, to now using ice boats and elytra for travel. That is a shift right there. Or how about Zombie Pigmen being replaced by Zombie Piglins, or the textures changing, or Ocelots becoming useless.
    These things may be small shifts in and of themselves, but combined with one another, they make a sizable shift in the feel of the game, and depending on who you ask, it may be for better or for worse.

      @TechbotHimself  2 місяці тому

    its because players starting minmaxing minecraft, the game was way to easy because we became to familiar with everything and mojang wasn't updating the game at all and then when they did start updating it again they not only didn't change anything to encourage the serene nature but still spooky survival gameplay loop that made the game what it is they actively added to it with stuff like the villager update and wont attempt to fix it until years later, cant wait till they fix how structures are way to common 10 years from now maybe if were lucky ores will actually be rare
    and because of how little the game actually adds people minmax it within days and are bored of it and then when they come back after not playing for awhile and dont know everything they feel overwhelmed because they are use to playing the game with an understanding of everything and now feel entitled to it

    As a new player who has been playing for less than a year, i sometimes go and watch older MC videos to see how different it was and I'm so glad they continue to update the game. My only problem is i feel like there are things they miss out on that are super trivial but would make a difference. Like making saddles, horse armor, and chainmail craftable. Making frost walker immune to powdered snow. Id also love to see different chest and barrel colors.. you can make them using any wood but you get the same result.

    • @TechbotHimself
      @TechbotHimself  2 місяці тому +2

      Exactly newer Minecraft imo just had more to offer and is still the same game at its core. And yeah there are definetely still some changes that need to be made but I’ll probs make a separate video on that later. Thanks for watching!

    • @aintgotnaan
      @aintgotnaan 2 місяці тому

      @hhff8534 something as simple as saddles and horse armor should definitely be craftable. If they are making it so you can make wolf/dog armor and horses have been around forever I don't see why not. Chainmail I can understand. Although honestly, chainmail should be stronger than it is given that you can't craft it.

  • @lucasmatthiessen1570
    @lucasmatthiessen1570 2 місяці тому

    Basically, the real reason why people think Minecraft is losing its identity is because old Minecraft is all about creating your own fun. Let me say that again. You create your own fun. You don’t get fun from doing what the game tells you to. You get fun from doing what you wanna do. That’s why a lot of people dislike the idea of Minecraft having a goal when the end was first released.

  • @tapgames3465
    @tapgames3465 2 місяці тому +1

    Its why I don't like the "Minecraft is losing its identity" UA-cam videos. They treat minecraft as simple just an old video game with tons of nostalgia in 2010 rather than game thats slowly changing. Literally every game changes slowly changes their identity through updates but the main part stays. Like look at terraria, 1.0 and 1.4 are very different from each other and has a different identity but the main part of exploring, building, and defeating bosses stays.
