- If you are having issues with long calls on your android phone aka Proximity sensor issue while taking calls in this video I will try to solve that issue by changing the default google dialer to fix the proximity sensor issue that is found on many android phones now.

Main issue is actually the newer proximity sensors/AI accelerometer based implementation used for all the v shape/u-shaped notch/punch hole are poorly designed/calibrated in budget devices. They used to work reliably when we used to have thick Bezels in budget devices.
I mean it is sensor related and not app related. I have tested it in apps that detect proximity sensor...

After many months of hassle and trying different settings and apps (Kinscreen was supposed to work according to every post I found online, but it didn't for me), using this dialer as recommended in this video and disabling the prox sensor finally did the trick.

Thank you so much Sir. The fix is so easy and worthful for everyone who was facing issue with proximity sensor functioning. I Watched more than 50 videos to find the fix but didn't got any solution. Service centre was charging more than 1k to fix it but this video fixed this problem for free.
Mom was facing this issue to an extreme on her Realme device and it was really bugging her, so much so that she wished she had her Redmi Note 5 from years ago although this phone is way better in literally everything else. P.S. I've been seeing some issues with screen going black during WhatsApp voice messages and not properly switching to the speakers instead of earpiece on some Android devices too.

I'm genuinely speaking about my story 29th Dec 2022. My POCO F1 2019 model connected with tws earbuds, lying flat on table, while i was having a conversation over the google meet audio call. As voice call was hung up, My screen turned up and as i was picking up my phone above from the table, Proximity sensor closed the screen because of my hand reflection, To this day my phone never woke up. Went to XIAOMI service centre (got response of motherboard replacement), Went to local hand repair hub in the city (got response of I.C. change, ultimately 6 hrs later final reply of motherboard replacement). Eventually let go of my 4 yr old master tech of 2019. Purchased Galaxy Z Fold 4. I'm so happy to see this issue being raised by the prominent tech reviewer of all time. Thanks Ranjeet sir for speaking about the issue.
Thank you for helping me fix a moto E30 🙏. Every call I made the screen went black, couldn't access the phone so had to wait for the other end to hang up before I could access anything. I installed Right dialer, made it the default dialer app and disabled the proximity sensor during calls, worked a charm!

I was literally facing this situation right now and was trying to find the possible cause of this.
I'm using Realme 7 Pro
During a call, the screen goes full black and I'm not able to interact with the phone until the call is disconnected.
Because of this proximity sensor issue, the always on display keeps turning off automatically after a couple of seconds.
Call it coincidence or fate, I opened UA-cam and the first video I saw was on this same issue and that too by Ranjit sir

This dialer fixes the issue of proximity sensor.
But it cannot handle multiple calls,
Suppose you are on a call and another call come then you don't get the option to receive it.
Please see to it!

OR, you can use the AOSP dialer instead of installing unknown dialers from playstore.
AOSP dialer does not have the kind of customization options this app has, and also this app is FOSS, so it should be safe.

But yeah, for me AOSP does the job very well. Fast dail, high quality call recording, sync with google contacts anonymously 😂

Any tips on how to increase the touch sensitivity in nothing phone. Lots of issue after fixing tempered glass and there's no option to increase sensitivity in settings

what a legend. This fixed it. Had to disable proximity sensor in ap but it's fixed. Phe, it was so painful. If I got someone's messagebank I had to wait til it timed out before i could access my phone again

Happy belated New year to you and your family. Appreciate the app and info but I just don't like changing the core default system apps with something else. Fortunately, my phone has a well calibrated proximity sensor.

Samsung not an exception. I've been facing this issue from last 9 months. I did almost everything like reset settings, format phone, used 3rd party apps but nothing worked.
Then the issue is hardware related and may be yours is a faulty device. Have 5 different Galaxies (including mine and family members) at home and none has the issue. BTW GS21 is my daily driver.
@@ijazm773 you have a flagship brother but not all people can afford it. It's quite obvious that nobody wish not even samsung to have such issues in flagships as it is related to brand supremacy. You may have a good experience with but not all have.
@@rraviranjan1 Right brother, I really didn't intend to make you feel less or more, if you felt any bad accept my appology. And, also in older M Series devices Samsung used Camera based proximity detection which performed poorly, so that can be the reason too... Here in this video, the issue seems to be Google dialer(which Galaxy devices don't come with) and the issue you might be facing has to do with something else.
@@ijazm773 yes I'm using M series but that doesn't too old. I was not aware about this camara based proximity sensor issue. Anyways, getting andoid 13 in few days. Hope this will no longer an issue anymore. Thanks for your valuable suggestions
I had 2 S21FEs and both had this issue and that too within a week of purchase. I waited 4-5 months for refund. Even Samsung has this issue especially with Exynos Processor.

I have had such a problem with the proximity sensor since the early spring of this year, although it had never happened before, and the phone is almost 5 years old. The point is as follows. While listening to voice messages (for example, in Whatsapp), the screen goes off, and the sound is automatically turned down to a minimum. And there is also no way to unlock the screen until you finish listening to the voice message. There is a similar problem with classic calls: the screen is blocked, which makes it impossible to reset the call after a conversation. And I also can't hear the interlocutor, because due to blocking, I don't have time to turn on the loud speaker, only with the input of the pin code of the screen it can be done. But with voice messages (in Whatsapp for example) this kind of stuff doesn't work - even after entering the pin code, the screen immediately goes out again and is blocked.
And the strangest thing is that the screen locks itself when accepting a call, although I do not bring the phone itself to my ear. The same picture is seen when trying to listen to a voice message in the messenger by clicking on the play button. All this did not happen, I repeat, until the spring of this year. And it is unclear what could be causing this. I don't have the option to turn off the Proximity Sensor in the settings. I used the Android Proximity Sensor Reset/Override app, but it didn't help either. During the test, the display is green all the time, although it should switch to red when the sensor is working properly. And now, probably the best solution for me is to turn off this sensor altogether. Only I do not know how to do it, as I have already written above.
Happy New Year. In my good experience i have never had proximity sensor issues on my Google Pixel 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21FE both on Google Dialer App
I am using S20FE 5G and it don't have proximity sensor, instead uses virtual proximity sensor which is combination of accelerometer and light sensor but it works sometimes but sometimes it just refuses to work and i have to use power button to lock the screen

I have been using Pixel 4a for couple of years since launched. As you mentioned I also face proximity sensor issue during calls occasionally. Moreover I do face proximity issues while someone is calling when my phone is locked in my pocket. It gets accidental touches automatically and the call gets rejected or accepted or anything might happen. Please do let me know if this issue got resolved in Pixel 7 series as this is really annoying when phone gets accidental touches in your pocket. Thanks.

I have used this dialer but am facing a bug, if we call a number which is not in our contacts, this app will show the number which matches to our contact list in the recent section of dialer.
