Good video! I've had my A7RII for a few years now after doing alot of research, i watch all the vids on the latest cameras and still cant justify selling my r2 as there is very little to gain.
I mainly use vintage manual lenses taking photos of mainly modern architecture, started using them on railway photography too, autumn is fast approaching so shall use it for some woodland photography.
For the money you can't really beat the A7RII even in 2023.
I agree 100%, just got my A7Rii today. I mounted my Canon FD lens and its my permanent rig when using my FD lens.
thanks for putting up time making this video
Other than the mental battery life there is nothing wrong with a7R ii. Love mine. Just have lots of batteries.
Looks like I am the only one in the world being able to use just one battery on an entire day and still shoot a hundred plus of pics!
Nice video! I just bought one, I do a lot of time-lapsing with my old A7S2 at night and I have lost some great shots because I have only one camera. So I hope it will not dissapoint me.
Good camera❤🎉
Battery life? I only use genuine Sony batteries, i find i get around 300shots from sometimes upto 400 i leave the camera switched on, so its not as bad as folk make out, depends what you do with it I guess, just my experience with the R2.
Great video!! Thanks you for sharing! What camera did you use to actually shoot the beginning of your video??
This was all shot on my old iPhone 12 pro 😅
Makes a good little back up camera
The main thing I don't like about the A7rii are the diddy buttons and thin thumb dials. How anyone with gloves on can use it I have no idea. Apart from that it's a total bargain these days and a great work horse. Re battery life I turn Airplane Mode on, Pre AF off, and shortest on time setting and turn it off and on a lot.
Yeah the buttons are tiny and difficult in even thin gloves, interesting about the airplane mode thing though as that hasn't occurred to me
Nice review. I sold a Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8 and instantly regretted. I miss that lens 😄 Whats going to be in the camera bag next?
That is the question 😄
What do you do with your old gear? Do you trade it in towards something new, or keep it around "just in case"?
I tend to keep some of it and sell some
Like I still have my canon 5d and a couple lenses for it but most other stuff just comes and goes to fund more gear
Is mic included or can I purchase later? What size mic and name?
The mic is a separate purchase, rode sent me the video mic go II which is the one I use and it's been good to me so far
hi first of all cool video, but i wanted to ask again if this camera is worth it for a youtube channel. I have a small budget and that's why I considered this camera
Yeah you could definitely kick start a UA-cam channel with one
Good reliable video autofocus and the ability to shoot up to 4k makes it quite a strong contender
Only thing to note is you'll need batteries and lots of them if shooting 4k as it eats through the battery pretty quickly
@@gavtakesphotos ok
@@gavtakesphotos Then I will buy the a7rii
@@titanwatch5764I wouldn’t consider this for a UA-cam channel. This camera was best known for its high megapixels allowing for big prints & cropping. To do decent video with this you really have to set this camera in super 35 or apsc mode. If you’re going to shoot that way you might as well get a Sony a6400 or Panasonic LUMIX g7, gh4 or 5, maybe Fuji x-h1. Gonna pay the same for those with lens as an a7 Rii will run just body. Just my opinion…
Hi! Very helpful video! Jist want to know the A7rII's performance when shooting the Milkyway?
It handles milky way shots beautifully
The dynamic range it has really helps with astrophotography, pair it with a fast aperture lens and you'll get some amazing results
Amazing...it's the bettery life that always make me stayaway form the RII :(
The battery life is a little bit of a let down but the rest of the camera is pretty solid, a plus to the batteries being small is you can carry a few of them and they really don't take any space up
Duracell make good batteries that I've found reliable and last a little longer than the standard ones too
Yeah...looking to upgrade from my very old Canon 7D...I want to take a test into full frame..but I have a budget to consider.haha
Thanks for the input! More power and happy shooting!
very good for rhe milkyway,i have one and love it, the battery life is not bad as they say if you turn on airplane mode and turn off previews in the screen.
Gav looks lije Gay. Like the review, but I would go with Gavin or any longer name.( Not that there's anything wrong with that...)
Thinking of buying this camera for weddings and studio shoots. Is it worth it... Price is about $900 for body alone brand new
Studio stuff would suit this camera perfectly
It handles low light surprisingly well too
Only thing I’d say might be an issue is the single card slot so you won’t have any back up images but if you use a good high quality sd card that will lessen the chance of failure
I’ve always used sandisk and not had a failure yet but it’s just something to think about
Where did you see it for $900
