- Wow, the England vs Iceland game was unbelievable, never expected it to end this way. Here’s the behind the scenes of me watching it with the lads in the pundit box. Some very tense moments in there, I think England’s got some big thinking to do.

rio is a mook, he couldn't tell that sterling was responsible for iceland's second goal and instead thought it was down to no leadership in defence.
Loved the way Rio wasn't dismissive of the Iceland team. Wish some of the players had adopted the same mentality!
I think the nation, or at least the press needs to adopt that mentality. I remember some newspaper referring to the winning goal of Iceland v Austria that ensured the England v Iceland matchup as "the goal that saved England" because they would avoid Portugal. I think everyone, not just the players or the fans but the people as well to accept that England just aren't big enough to have easy wins against good teams. England is certainly not in the same ballpark as Germany so heading to a tournament expecting to win can only lead to bad results. England certainly has the material, they just have to be able create something cool with it.
I miss the time of Beckham . Now the current generation of players is a bunch of spoiled brats. I hope Rio make videos for other teams

It's easy to post-rationalise. England was dreadful in every group game, but fans and pundits kept saying "don't worry, we're dominating, goals will come". In terms of football, we are a deluded nation, only realising how bad we are when it is literally impossible to win.

The thing is we WERE dominating teams. We dominated them, but we couldn't finish off the games. Not sure what happened against Iceland though, that was unlike the team I'd been watching.
30secondstomarsMBH To be honest, dominating teams means absolutely nothing. Leicester won the league despite being dominated (less possession and passes) than almost every opponent. Arsenal dominated against almost all teams but consistently lost games.

Dominating means nothing. Spain dominated possession against Netherlands in WC 2014, yet we all know how bad they lost that game. It is whether you put the ball into the net that matters.

Having just seen us get to back to back finals and our major final in 55 years with Southgate, it is so interesting to watch a game like this. This is why we can connect to the words "Looking back on when we met and first, I cannot escape and I cannot forget".
So interesting too to see behind the scenes like this.
miss the England days when Shearer was captain, yeah we weren't world clasd but boy did you lot give 110% and havr passion. those players on that field looked like they didn't give a shit. a total embarrasment.

After the WC I could not understand how Hodgson was even let back into the country. But to keep that job and betray our honour again, is unthinkable. THere has to be some punnishment for that. You cant just go home to your mansion and trophy girlfriends and think 'well these things happen'. No, they dont happen to England. England may lose at some point, but they lose with honour. If the FA appointed Hodgson, who simply didnt know what on earth he was doing, then thats another massive question mark over them.
Who should be the next England manager? Easy. US. If theyre gonna let us down like that, then bettter it be through democratic decision-making. We invented football. Now we can re-invent it with the people it represents having a say. 'Democratic Football', imagine that - and the message it would send to the world.
One things for sure, the FA are corrupt and need to be held accountable. As does Hodgson. Payback time now, whats the punnishment for shaming England?
