"drücken" means "push". "ziehen" would be "pull". Sometimes it stands on doors for that you know in what direction you can open it. "drücken" also means "to hug". So "Lass uns drücken!" was: "let's hug."
Fun Fact: In the middle ages, everyone predominantly drank drinks containing alcohol. The alcohol helped keep the drinks sanitary. Water usually wasn't clean enough to drink safely. So yeah, knights would have drank beer!
since in the Middle Ages the water was very dirty, and diseases like cholera had killed millions of people, even children drank exclusively beer, which naturally had a low alcohol content
It’s so cute how you are amazed by a castle or some Fachwerk, I mean castles in Germany are pretty amazing but I am used to see these. My school is literally a 500 years old castle and around our school there is so much Fachwerk, we just stopped appreciating those buildings because it is normal for us.
The oldest buildings in the United States are only like 300 years old, so these castles are super fascinating and also even the center city with the cobblestone pathways. There's nothing similar like that in the United States lol appreciate it
Water was not clean enough in medieval times bro...so they had alcohol i think the most comon was "Met" wich is a honey whine..you can still get it at german medieval festivals.
9:40 Kaitlyn doesn't know Jägermeister?! I actually thought Jägermeister is the most famous German product in the US... except the car brands of course.
Ha, talk about coincidence! I was eating there just last Sunday, we had a reservation for my father's birthday. My parents also had a bucket of ribs each. The garlic sauce was amazing. We also had Folienkartoffeln (potatoes wrapped in tin foil) to accompany them. The portions are huge, but if you ask them, they'll even give you some bags to take home the ribs you couldn't finish!
in medieval times when people threw there poo right out the window onto the streets and washing there clothes in rivers there were hardly any sources of fresh water so every town basically had atleast 1 beer brewery. but back then it hardly had any alcohol in it and even kids drank it. brewing beer was basically a way to make water drinkable and give it a better taste then some cooked mudwater.
6:50 Actually, during medieval times it was much more common to drink beer/wine rather than water, because in the process of making them they get "clean" from the alcohol thats developing. Water was really unsafe to drink. Also the Beer and Wine alcohol percentages were much lower back then than they are nowadays, I probably shouldn't forget to mention that
Hey Conner,"drücken" means "push" not "enter". I like castles and the medieval since my childhood, I will travel some day to scotland, because of their castles and the incredible landscapes...Best regards Andy
Hey, since you seem to like to visit old towns - have you considered going to a winefest? If not you should google winefest at the mosel, some very beautiful locations like Bernkastel-Kues or Cochem.
I can recommend a visit to the Ederseetalsperre, there is also a castle ... it`s a renewed dam, which was destroyed by the royal airforce ... or, a very beautiful castle 20 minutes from Marburg in Rauischolzhausen ... they also have a wonderful park
Like your videos a lot. I‘m a German and it‘s great to see an american having fun over here. Most of the americans have a negative opinion about Germany but you‘re really cool🤙🏻👌🏻
"Drücken", which you thought would mean "enter" means actually "push". You have "Drücken" and "Ziehen" in germany, just like "push" and "pull", so that you don't walk into a window or something
Since you live in Marburg, you must definitely visit the Hessentag in Korbach. This is the biggest folk festival in Hesse or the Aartalsee, that is the second largest lake in Hesse. This is 30 km from Marburg, I'm living there.
Hey Conner, I love your videos, they always make me smile! :) And here we say, if a street musician makes you dance or gives you some goosebumps, you owe him some money! :D
I feel and appreciate the Marburg vibes but I think Schwäbisch Hall has the true vibes or maybe Nalf just captures the vibes a tad better. Enjoy all of your videos, keep it up!
Die Videos in der Bäckerei sind am lustigsten! If you didn't understand, you must UBE DEIN DEUTSCH I could put the translation here, but just try it! So... no translation for you ;) I like your videos so much, keep it up!
2:38 If you wanna hear NALF´s take on where the vibes are better, this is his channel: ua-cam.com/channels/LG1yRkWZq_0-K5aBPJi6Vg.html And also: #getnalfsjacketback LOL

very interesting, thanks for that fact!
That and beer has more calories...very important to be able to wear those heavy armours. Fighting in those things cost a lot of energy.
since in the Middle Ages the water was very dirty, and diseases like cholera had killed millions of people, even children drank exclusively beer, which naturally had a low alcohol content
Even kids had thinned wine...
so what youre saying is that we need more beer? lol
Man bro Ur Videos is just pure positive vibes keep going you guys

What school do you got to. University or a normal school. Because I don’t know many schools in Germany that are castles
Water was not clean enough in medieval times bro...so they had alcohol i think the most comon was "Met" wich is a honey whine..you can still get it at german medieval festivals.
That Truck is a "Bimmelbahn" it takes you to different locations.

Any chance you try some Spargel? Time is running and the season will be over soon :(

Americans are more used to the green variant of Spargel.

lila_from_berlin There are some People that are *Spargel*
"Drücken" means "push", "ziehen" means pull (to open doors)
9:40 Kaitlyn doesn't know Jägermeister?! I actually thought Jägermeister is the most famous German product in the US... except the car brands of course.

Yay, Gießen! I used to live there, been to that Badenburg place lots of times. We used to fish in the river.
6:50 Actually, during medieval times it was much more common to drink beer/wine rather than water, because in the process of making them they get "clean" from the alcohol thats developing. drücken means to press. thats what on the doors sometimes. the opposite is to pull (ziehen)
it means PUSH, nobody is pressing a door ;-)
Ah fine, ty :)
What's the name of the song at the end of the video?
Next week saturday the 2nd of june the rugby Bundesliga final takes place in Berlin you should come and visit it
"Drücken" doesn't meen enter, it means push so you know you have to push the door and don't pull it.
Nice meal, nice vlog! :)
Hey Conner, I enjoy watching your videos very much! And btw: "drücken" does not mean "enter", it's translated to "push"
Die Videos in der Bäckerei sind am lustigsten!

The badenburg restaurant is not in marburg. It is in Gießen. And my house is like 4 kilometres away. Wie kamst du auf die idee in marburg zu wohnen?

6:50 Nah, they drank (watered) beer. The water in beer was much cleaner than water from the well, so people drank beer all the time.
