It's trickier than you think because movies that depict the worst sort of people as the protagonists aren't easy to make succeed or appeal to wide enough audiences. Roy DeMeo wasn't just a murderer in that life, he was a tortuous sociopath who enjoyed his work, and he basically got what he deserved when the Gambinos had to get rid of him. He was, however, played by Ray Liotta in the movie, "The Iceman", about another scumbag who lied about everything depicted in the film. Worth a watch though.

Kevin Maher (an old car thief) has a story on UA-cam where he went to visit Demeo at a restaurant and Demeo was harassing an interracial couple at a table and yelling about how it made him disgusted, yelling the N word, and also gesturing toward his gun in his waist. Maher said it was the most racist thing he ever witnessed and made him even more wary of dealing with him.

What is dangerous is that Roy DeMeo was around 5 feet 9 inches tall and a good/clean looking guy.
