Forever Wood Flower & Vase - Woodturning Project | Davidson Crafts

- I have always disliked giving a gift that is just going to dry up and die so I loved the idea of making a flower out of wood. This woodturning project was not as tricky as I thought it was going to be and ended up being a ton of fun. The vase is made from figured maple and the flower is Leopard wood and poplar. I am a self-taught woodworker/crafter who still has much to learn so please don't view this content as instructive. Let me know in the comments your suggestions on what I should craft next. Enjoy!

This is a “forever” flower! Wonderful job!
Thank you so much!
Great job! The video was well done and the project turned out well!
Thank you so much for watching!
Amazing
Thanks
Tulips grow with 6 petals. I just put one on youtube similar to yours but using 6 way inside out form. Check it out. No dremel work needed! Nice stem.
Cool, thanks for watching.
Great video 👍 would you consider talking through your thought process in future videos? Thank you
Of course. Thanks so much for watching.
I really enjoyed this video! Super cool!
I'm currently working on turning some flowers of my own, and I was wondering what finish you used on yours? Would a shellac work? I'm not an expert on finishes, so any advice you have would be great! Thank you!
Shellac would work. I use a wax and mineral oil finish that I make myself. Thanks so much for watching!
Enjoyed the interesting project. Question - the carbide tools - best for wet or dry wood?
Thank you. Carbide tools will work on both wet and dry wood but in my opinion they work the best on dry wood.
