- In this video I make a wooden as a birthday gift. This was another first and a very fun project. I use apple, padauk and mahogany for this piece. The flower itself is 3" tall and 14" tall stem and all. I used Starbond thick to assemble all of the pieces and it worked perfectly. (see link below for a discount code )

Great video as always Lewis and loved the tulip. Great project.
Thank you Jiggsy! When I was putting the pieces together I was thinking it could be one of your videos!
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman I guess I will have to give it a go some point.
Very beautiful tulip Lewis.
Thanks so much Jack!
.
Impressive to say the least
Thank you Daniel!
So pretty, I would pair some up with branch flowers your son made!
Thanks Kathryn, that was mentioned here actually! I appreciate you watching!
Excellent demonstration, Lewis. Another to add to the small project idea list.
Thanks Jay. It a small project that takes some time to get the hand sanding right. I’m going to come up with a smoother cut system for the flower petals. I appreciate you watching as always!
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman Yes, hand sanding. Many things by hand are my source of frustration, mine being paralyzed. But once you find an efficient way it takes a bit of the tedium away. If you do learn an efficient method for the petals I hope you'll share it. :)
I absolutely will
My birthday is in September. (wink wink) You created a beautiful tulip!
Haha, this may be a limited edition thing! But it was a lot of fun…. Thanks so much for watching!
A really nice one! That turned out amazing. Very clever leaf design and attachment. When you were roughing out the flower, it looked just like the whiskey glasses I’ve been experimenting with.
Cheers, Rick
Very cool Rick, love to see them! Thanks for watching!

Very innovative Lewis, well done. My wife really liked that piece, what can I say
Thanks Brent, I guess you need to get on it then huh!
👍
Thanks!
Brilliant, Lewis! Love your leaves you could use inside out turning yes?
Thanks Sean, I considered turning the leaves using inside out actually but time was not on my side! Maybe next one! Thanks for watching!
Outstanding. Love your work with the skew. Is the rest set above center of the piece when you are doing the skew work? Awesome work not just this but all the things you do. Thanks.
Thank you Kevin. Yes the rest is above center, I’d say 2/3 up from the bottom of the piece. Thank you for watching!
Awesome tulip, Lewis! Love the idea for the leaves. Do you find that the leaves are rather delicate since they done have much glue surface area?
Just curious how well these travel to craft shows, etc.
Thanks Seth! I really don’t know how they will travel as this if the first one I’ve made and it was for my wife so it went across the yard only. Thanks for watching buddy!
Nice, but what was the profile on the square section scraper you used to refine the inside?
That was a square shank but a round cutter. It was the easywood tools #1 hollower. Thank you for watching!
Nice job but I honestly don't understand why some turners waste so much wood and not trim things down.
Thanks Morgan! Once wood gets below 3/4” squares it isn’t overly useful to me. Thanks for watching!
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman I think you misread what I wrote...or maybe I didn't word it correctly.
Possibly Morgan, I read it as turners using pieces larger than needed for the finished item. I did not take it offensively, I’ve seen some big pieces turned into very small items.
Liked the video (thanks), but would prefer what ever the background noise is in the shop to the fingernail on chalk board stuff that is used to replace it. For the trolls: I am aware of mute an cc. :)
I appreciate that but I’m not going to leave the conversations of others doing a different project in my videos. Also there is copyrighted music playing and that is a big no for UA-cam. I try to work around those thing but sometime it isn’t possible. I appreciate the feedback and you watching!
Very nice
Thank you Joe, I appreciate you watching!
Really nice Lewis! Beautiful!
Thanks Chris!
