Always had mixed feelings about this ending On the one hand Mortimer for sure deserved to be punished for what he did. Not just to Baudimon but the evils he let Cassandra and Alvaro get away with But on the other hand to deny him any chance at an afterlife, even if it's a by-product of his own actions has this hollow feeling to it. I wanted him punished, not obliterated. Suppose that's the thing with endings like these, their bittersweet for a reason
