That’s kinda the point tho. At the call center job he doesn’t hold a position of power, so he doesn’t have to fight this constant uphill battle of trying to be the likable boss. Instead, he can just be Michael, and not actively try to impress everybody, which as we know, doesn’t work.

It was around this time in the show when Michael really started growing on me. He was so attached to Jan even when she’d repeatedly stomp on his heart...

I love how later in the episode, the people of the call center genuinely liked Michael talking about movies and stuff, also wanted to have beers with him, heartwarming.

I cried for real in this episode. He was so sad and exaust, but It seems everyone was trying to make him feel worse, specially that jerk Ryan who's always trying to belittle Michael. Ryan is the character I hate the most in the show cuz he is totally ungrateful to Michael who was the person that was most suportive to him in the beginning of his career
Ryan is his boss and he wanted him to do a presentation. Michael didn’t, and Ryan was understandably annoyed that he didn’t listen to him. And he was right, Michael can’t have two jobs if one of them is going to impact his performance.
Apart from following him to his second job, I love how the camera crew decided to just call Stanley to get his input, rather than waiting the next day. XD
Stanley's attitude was because Michael was a bad boss. Imagine you trying to do your job as best as you can and having your boss calling meetings to have his improve shows. And if this is not bad enough, your boss calls you also after work hours. Also remember that Stanley's Dundies was for fine work.

At this moment of the series, I felt so bad for Michael that I was asking myself when I rewatched season 2 I was like “how do I fall piteous for Michael again??” This scene shows his persistence at pleasing Jan and keeping himself going. That’s bloody inspiring.
Jim & pam are so mean here.... I mean they asked Michael for dinner when they knew he's busy .... On top of that, they knew how bad Michael will feel about it.
Pretty much the whole Manager/Co-Worker ethic plays a good part here. Michael is a manager during the day, but he tries too hard to be "friends" with his employees to a cringe factor. However at his second job, he's much more lax and comfortable (could be burning out from the day) and is found to be pretty relatable and good company with his co-workers. It shows when his manager shows a more strict and serious presence since he knows hes a boss to everyone and Michael can crack a joke or two and actually be liked for it while his co-workers *invite* him out for drinks after work. Its kind of sad to see the reality of the lives of different positions, but thats the point of it.
Call centres are one of the worst places to work trust me. Everything is so depressing plus you have to keep up with non-stop calls. Really feel bad for Michael here..
I love how Michael just makes the situation worse when he accidentally called Stanley even though it could’ve been avoided by him saying he didn’t know it was him.

Did you forget what happened in the Dinner Party episode? That’s exactly why they don’t want to hang out with him. When Erin and Gave invited Michael, he acted like a child and threw tantrums. Michael Scott is a terrible person who wants to hang out with the cool kids so he can feel liked. Did you forget how he treated anyone he didn’t think was cool, like Toby, Phyllis or Meredith?
I like how Nick Figaro's initial reaction isn't to question why there are cameras there but puts up a defense of them being a legitimate and legal business. lol
This whole segment with him working a second job is actually really sad - just goes to show how much Jan actually used him and how much he let her walk all over him.
The office is like all of the best comedy movies got thrown into a blender and got blended, and then shaken (not stirred) and then hardened into a masterpiece
