You can have items behind counters, then have salespersons get those items for customers. It requires hiring enough people though. Locking the items up only makes customers go somewhere else. Noone wants to wait 10 minutes or more for an overworked assistant to arrive with a key. 😊 Update.... Walmart and other stores have excellent delivery!!! I rarely go to stores now!!!😁🙏❤ Then there's curbside!! Excellent and easy too!!!❤😁🙏
A few times I had to wait for someone to open up the door to get the items that I wanted ( it took awhile for someone with the key to come and help me ) and at the same time instead of me getting the item, the employee took it and told me when I'm was ready to check out, to go to register 20 to get my items . again Walmart this is getting ridiculous
I hope these companies know that eventually people are going to get annoyed and just buy all their stuff online and a lot of people who work at those stores will lose jobs.. but they really bring it on themselves because they're punishing responsible shoppers just because they're to lazy to stop shoplifters
I think they know that and it'll save the company on employees if people start shopping online less theft less paying employees. People will allow it just like self checkout
In Arizona it's not about the employees being lazy the employees here at Target and Walmart have been told that if they stopped a shoplifter they will lose their jobs they will be fired it takes over 3 hours for these people to unlock the cabinets
idk if it’s laziness.. a security guard near where I live got shot to death. I seen people screaming at security simply because security told them they didn’t pay and they get scary violent. It’s dangerous to stop some shoplifters…
I will shop elsewhere if this craziness don't stop. I really think the theft problem is a hoax. Especially when the self checkout catches a non scanned item. Instead of locking up stuff hire more checkouts and limit the self checkouts to 5 items or enforce the 10 item at express lanes. The computer will make the customer to abide in the policy. It's a no brainier but these college employees don't have common sense. 73
The theft is no hoax. It’s a very big problem right now. So much of a problem Walmart ended up closing all their stores in Portland, and half their stores in Chicago. Thieves are very brazen these days, I’ve seen it and experienced it as a retail employee. They don’t care, because they know in certain scenarios, the law protects these thieves.
This has happened here in Phoenix Arizona Target and Walmart I'll give you a prime example of what's going on several times my husband had to go get bike tubes and tires for his bike at Walmart and of course they have all this stuff locked up which is stupid it took almost 3 hours for him to get somebody to unlock the cabinet so he can get the stuff 3 hours that is ridiculous and even more ridiculous is this stuff is getting locked up for what high crime rate this is affecting the consumer punish the people who are stealing not people who need to buy stuff
Just went to target and they locked up most of isles from the vitamins to the cosmetics and I was livid cause I don't shop there often and it wasn't that bad last I went and people had to keep calling someone. I left empty handed cause the things I wanted to look at were all locked up but they haven't locked up the liquor, that's out. I bought my stuff on Amazon in the store. I'm just buying from Amazon. They keep this up they will go out of business
What’s the problem ? Just pick what you want and ask them to get it out. Too much theft occurs. Why is difficult to understand? It’s like during the riots everything was boarded up, they need to go back to that. That will help curve the theft
@@EE-iy9rqeasier said than done do you know what takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours for somebody with the keys to come and unlock them so you can get your item and half the time they won't even give you the item to set it in the back and take it to the register and won't let you have it in your hands
The assumption by retailers that honest shoppers are going to accept being treated like common crooks is a mistake. I resent the implication and leave a store that implements these policies. Screw them, I can buy elsewhere without their garbage!
This is why I have Walmart plus. I don’t have to pay for shipping. I only pay 40 bucks a year for the service. And I kind of live out in the boonies so I don’t have to worry about porch pirating.
It’s not that simple. 9/10 the security officer at stores is there just for show, in a decent amount of states there are laws that actually give criminals protection. I know a couple stories where an employee stopped a shop lifter physically, the shop lifter ended up suing the retail store and WINNING. Now so many retailers tell employees to let shop lifters go or else they’ll be fired. To retailers, especially big chains like Walmart, law suits like that are a waste of time and money.
I say they want to annoy customers so much as to actually stop these customers from wanting to come into the store so that business is done online and they close down their expensive real estate.
I dont buy if i cannot choose which one I want. I never pick an item in front where everyone has played with the item. I dont buy used items at the price of a new one. 73

Here in Arizona both Target and Walmart it takes over 3 hours for you to actually get somebody to come unlock something
@@dawnyofthelight Walmart's delivery is excellent.... I no longer shop in store..... way too annoying!! 🙄
Leave who cares

Unfortunately in California, employees are told NOT to stop thieves or else they could get fired

condoms should not be locked up 😭. People who can’t afford those need it the most.
Theyre not targeting retail thieves, they were targeting paying customers
I will NEVER shop at walmart again, lol! 😂🖕

Wow! The costs in those stores are alot more then in Canada .
Because to many are rushing into Major stores and stealing in bulk. Besides stores closing stores what else are they supposed to do?
Catch the damn thieves not punish paying customers
I will never go into a Walmart or Target again. I could not believe that they have done this to their customers.

HIRE more security not lock it all up and make people wait on an employee to open the case.

If you want to keep the super low prices, things have to be done to protect those products from theft. Stop stealing, the locks go away.
Sounds like they got exactly what they voted for.
Spot on!!!
Because all their income is paying inflation prices and there is no money left for the little things.
