Over the years tiger has treated all the people that were close to him the way he treated this guy he apparently has no concern over peoples feelings… Charles Barkley has tried every way he could to try and get to be a friend of Tiger again but once Tiger close it off, he never spoke to him, except on those TV shows where the display. Same thing to all of his instructors friends in college girlfriends just a strange strange, dude. Frankly, I’ve always admired his golf game and I love to watch him play but as a human being, he’s not somebody I wouldn’t want to know.

I imagine that when Tiger Woods and his dad walked into a grill room, a lot of folks went quiet and looked at them, because everyone knew he was head and shoulders the best player any of them would ever see. Was some of it because of race? Probably. Was a lot of it just plain old awe? I'm thinking yes.

Mark O'Meara is a bad guy. Also, he should not be in the Hall of Fame. Tiger wouldn't even go to his Hall of Fame ceremony when Mark was inducted into the Hall of Fame at St. Andrews. And Tiger was on the property, I believe. Tiger did not even mention Tiger's name at the ceremony. Something happened there between those two. Tiger wouldn't even speak to Greg Norman when Greg moved down the road from Tiger. Tiger didn't want the bad loser mojo that Greg had at the time, and I can't blame him. Tiger broke up with his high school girlfriend by letter, when Tiger was at Stanford. It was out of nowhere, and they never spoke again.
I just purchased Hugh's book so I am by no means a hater here, but I do think you both (certainly the host) are quite unfair to Norman and completely misread the current state of golf. For starters, the PGA tour right now has Elevated events which were exactly what Norman was attempting to create. "The fellas" in Palmer's terms have no ability to play in most quality PGA tour events unless they can dramatically improve their world ranking, or win. Moreover, every PGA tour player can thank Liv and Greg for the massive increases in purses and other performance payments. Also, before Tiger and after Jack's prime, there weren't a whole lot of big names in golf that captivated the fan's attention. I grew up watching golf and Greg was my guy. Then came Phil. While Tiger has been amazing for the game of golf, I never cared for his cocky attitude.
Far too much gripping and putting down so many here. That a co author of note wrote the words it's likely less revealing than this interview showing his temperament. This was very hard to listen to as time and again Hughes really doesn't own his role. Or rather, doesn't know how abrasive he can be or is. But blames others and wants to be told "just once" he's done a good job. I wonder if this is the reason he was fired without explanation? No, I don't believe it was "cathartic" for him. He feels so hurt and pained and cannot resist criticizing everyone else while taking credit time and again. The number of times he says "I" and "me" is IMO revealing. I feel sorry for him, but also, I think he was really lucky to meet Earl and then, Tiger before he was a teenager.
Fair points but at the same time hearing someone else's perspective is intriguing. I can resonate with wanting a "pat on the back" but your points are also valid. He could just be a man who worked hard and invested into that kid and felt some form of entitlement to communication at the very least.
Look at the background of the picture and one can see this guy is wealthy and I bet he was talking to Tiger and his father the same way as now. Just maybe, Tiger would not be the $billionaire today if this guy was in charge then. Just maybe most of the money could have gone with the agent? It has happened and is happening everyday with sports agents. It appears Tiger made the right choice? Yep.
