    🔪--------------------------------RECIPE--------------------------------🔪
    Prep Time: 20 minutes
    Cook Time: 30 minutes
    Makes: 12 servings
    ✨INGREDIENTS
    Pigs in a Blanket
    6 hot dogs
    1 egg
    1 sheet puff pastry
    2 tsp sesame seeds
    Honey Mustard Sauce
    ⅓ cup mayo
    ¼ cup dijon
    3 tbsp honey
    ✨INSTRUCTIONS
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
    Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    Cut each hot dog into 6 pieces, about 1-inch long, for 36 pieces total.
    Lightly flour your work surface. Roll out puff pastry to a rectangle about 12-inches by 10-inches.
    With the longe edge towards you, cut the puff pastry vertically into 12 long strips. Then cut the strips horizontally into 3 sections, resulting in 36 strips.
    Beat 1 egg with 1 tablespoon water.
    Brush one end of a strip of puff pastry with the egg wash.
    Starting at the end of the strip that does not have egg wash, roll up one hot dog piece in the puff pastry and place on the parchment-lined baking sheet seam side down.
    Repeat with all strips of puff pastry and hot dog pieces.
    Evenly brush all pigs in a blanket with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
    Bake until the puff pastry is golden brown, about 20 minutes.
    While the pigs in a blanket bake, make the sauce.
    Mix together all sauce ingredients and chill until ready to serve.
    Serve warm with sauce!

    To anyone who is using lil smokies sausages, there is 30 in a pack. So you want to roll out the pastry puff to a 9" by 15" rectangle, and 1.5" in on 9" in side and 3"in on the 15" in side 😄
    They come out perfect 🥰

    Great video, just wondering, wouldn’t it be easier if you rolled the whole sausage in the puff pastry and then cut them to size, just asking

    • @cupofzest
      @cupofzest  8 місяців тому

      Thanks and YES.... it would be easier. When I tested the recipe I didn't even consider doing it that way. I'll have to test it again and try it wrapped up whole vs cut and see how it goes!

    Couldn't you just wrap the whole hot dog in the puff pastry then cut it after doing the egg top and the sesame seeds rather than wrapping each one individually? That might crush the dough, I guess, but it might be a lot faster... idk maybe.

    • @cupofzest
      @cupofzest  2 роки тому +3

      That is a really good idea and I'm sure it would work well! Honestly, when I was recipe testing and doing research, I didn't even think of trying it the way you described. If you end up trying it that way will you let me know how it works for you?
