I am a Humanist and at the age of 72 attended my very first Humanist cremation the other day. The celebration was conducted by a Humanist celebrant and have to say it was the most beautiful and wonderful service I have ever attended. Although the celebrant did not know Barry, he conducted the event with sensitivity, humour and honesty.Barry was only a few months older than myself and it brought home to me that none of us know when our time will come. I am now on a waiting list for open heart surgery and not in the least worried about the operation as I know the surgical, medical and nursing teams are completely competent and able. In the meantime I am busying myself getting all my paperwork sorted and my will updated so my stepsons will have an easier time when I finally say farewell to this beautiful planet and all the other species I share it with.
Thankyou
The only thing for certain is death is the final curtain.
Hard to accept the party will go on without me, but that’s really just the dregs of my narcissism kicking in-it wasn’t my party after all and I'm just glad I was invited.
Time soon for my last dance…
I’ll always have the tune of it in my head somehow, we all will. You are never alone… 🦋✨🎍🌻
No one will miss me. I'm seventy-one and I'm healthy and content. The only company I have, and have had for years, is my computer. This is the way I like it. I don't want a funeral I'd rather leave my remains to science.
You might be surprised
People see you
If you've smiled people will always remember
You are a part of me and this Universe. I really admire your words. We were both completely alone- United by it… 🦋✨🎍🌻
Misanthropy.
