    I can't even begin to express how much I love DIY Trying. And that's mainly because of Patrick Norton and Michael Hand. Great team and everything you guys do makes the most daunting task seems doable. I didn't even know about herculiner until today. Time to start painting my scooters with it ^_^

    When you guys get a chance you should do a DIY speaker build. It would be cool to see the build process for even a basic set of speakers.

    Everything you guys said is 100% true on the Herculiner, I ruined an pair of old shoes putting the stuff in the back of my dad's truck as a teenager because he was too cheap to spring for a full bunny suit.

    i have stuff like that in my truck (here we call it a ute). its called rhino liner, they spray it in and it gets to like 1/4 inch thick and never comes off. had mine on there for 10 years now, definitely recommend liners in all trays, makes it last so much longer.

    I've seen this stuff before and always thought it would be good to paint common rusting spots like around wheel wells and the rocker panels.

    I'm interested to see how it wears on those shoes. Nice job on the truck bed!

      Pretty well so far. I've walked around 30 miles in them and I see just a little bit of wear around the edges. I need to do a proper two coat application to get a fair test though.
      Not only did the bed liner fill in some of the holes, but the shoes also stayed completely flexible. Fun application but I'm not 100% sure it's practical. -Michael

    You could try painting your truck with rustoleum :). It apparently works pretty well

  • @calebburnett
    @calebburnett 10 років тому

    I'd rather see the $50 Rustoleum paint job. Cheap, not too terribly difficult, and recommended by many. I believe I saw this on Rick Wrench's website. Definitely in the DIY spirit.

    NICE THINGS!!!! But on a more serious (and praiselike) note: That looks awesome... perhaps post the video of you throwing the concrete into the bed of your truck (might be boring but i know DIY can make it entertaining).

    I just did a Herculiner 2 months ago. After 10-20 loads of 21AA Limestone and compost / Dirt. It looks like hell and I think I have to do another application. It is still cheaper even after the second application than Rhino liner. Rhino = $400, Herculiner = $50 + a lot of time. I think Herculiner is made for more casual use.

    I did this on the bed of 1971 GMC pick up long bed,probably about 10 years ago. (can't remember the brand) .I was lucky I had no paint to sand off,as I had it sandblasted it off,in prep for paint.Unfortunately it it only lasted about a year before it started peeling.So I'm skeptical,of the do it yourself kits.. I am curious to see how it holds up,a year or so from now...

  • @graphicsgod
    @graphicsgod 10 років тому +3

    Hey if your going to paint your truck, for dirt cheap, try "dipping" you truck!! If you don't like it, you can peel it off! Go to www.dipyourcar.com . The kit cost about $500, and you spray it on with a cheap house sprayer. The results are pretty close to professionally painted! And you don't have to mask anything off, well maybe in this case, you might want to keep it off bed liner.. Since I don't know how it will react to it.

    Plasti Dip or Elastiwrap it :)
    Preferably Elastiwrap, 'cause it supposedly takes less coats to do and is slightly more affordable. 2 basecoats of White Lightning followed by a top coat of pearlizer would be good ;) ;)

    DIY Tryin
    How did the coating on the table work out? I've got a crappy old computer desk that's paint is rubbing off and I'm wondering if it might work to just coat it with this stuff.
    I was also thinking of using it on my Corsair 800D case. It has a few scratches that really annoy me. The origional paint has a rough, slightly bumpy texture to it that looks kind of like this liner. This looks easy enough... think it could work...?

      For an 8 foot bed they recommend 1gallon + 1quart = enough to cover a long wheelbase pickup bed !!
