- Gun Runner made good on the promise showed in the Risen Star Stakes by winning the TwinSpires.com Louisiana Derby on Saturday, March 26, at Fair Grounds. Gun Runner will make his next start in the Kentucky Derby on May 7 at Churchill Downs.
For sure contender for the Kentucky Derby
IMO this was one of the best prep race performaces this year- really liked the way he looked the last 1/8. Like his pedigree, too. Not so sure about the schedule but if he trains well at CD...My heart is with Danzig Candy, but my head says Mohaymen and Gun Runner are the two colts to beat.

Can the volume not be turned up? I have everything on my end at full volume but can barely hear this.

Mortal lock this day. Flo Go had to release the brake too soon and he still pissed on them. This is when I hammer good horses, before they're nationally known. I got paid. Smashed him at KEE when he won NW2L. Uncle Jerry ran second that day, my cousin's horse.
Lane rie got his ass chewed out for this ride.
I feel bad for Brodys Cause. What a bad spot for him. At least he is not next to that unpredictable Lani! 😮

I like mo tom but those checks are killing me. its like if there's trouble Corey seems to find. That's not a knock against Corey because he runs Kentucky where I live. in smaller races anyways
Nice strong finish. Its what you want to look for. But a 48 half. Very slow. Not getting that in the derby. Also, quick note, 78% of derby winners lost their last race before derby. Nyquist is definitely a great horse, but his late lag in the Florida Derby shows a weakness. Mohaymen wins the derby going away, but be wary of Gun Runner.

+Sergio Medina The sire of Nyquist is Uncle Mo who wasn't a derby distance horse and neither was Uncle Mo's sire Indian Charlie. Nyquist being a Forestry filly doesn't help either, Forestry was a sprinter.
oo ee Point Given and Bellamy Road were heavy favorites for the KY Derby and neither one of them even finished in the money. Bellamy Road one his last two starts going into the KY Derby by a combined 32 lengths.
+keithlamontbraggs Nyquist is undefeated. And he ran in arguably the toughest qualifier, that being the Florida derby. Will he win the Derby? Hard to say. But its tough to bet against him.
+oo ee I guess everyone has their theories. I think It's Nyquist's race to lose. If it rains, Exaggerator will be my pick. Gun runner is a fast horse who looked good in his win in the Louisiana Derby. I think Mohaymen will fold up like a rusty lawn chair down the stretch.... And since Mo Tom cant keep from bumping into everyone in a 10 horse field I can't see him having a clean run in a 20 horse field.

If mo tom could ever stop bumping in to horses he'll win every time
+Gary Miller some horses just find trouble; nonetheless, this horse is a playback in all bottom exotics if he gets into the derby!

+Hovey2229 The horse is not at fault. Corey Lanerie should have never "dove" towards the rail like that. Mo Tom should have went to the right instead of being checked like that. Stupid! Stupid! Second time in as many races. 😡😡😡
