@@brandonlittle1208 It's like the negative space in a painting. Here it adds emotion, like the words caught in the throat of the singer because of the emotions they bring up.
I don't know about y'all but for me when listening to Sierra sing takes me to a good place. I'm back at my grandparents farm house sitting around the kitchen table drinking a cup of Sanka instant coffee, Grandma humming along with the AM Country station and Grandpa telling some old story. I hate when her songs end as I am drawn back into reality of my day but it was a nice break and for that I am thankful. Weird, yes I know but thems my cards folks.
I love the "space" in this song. It's sweet and sparse like someone sitting on their front porch playing after a day in the field. She gets it! I've played with too many people who want to make every song "Free bird" and this is refreshing!
I think she feels how to use use the wispy lilt of her voice most naturally. Being unhurried is the key. A bit of Billie Holiday or Monk. She'll be "near" the beat, be patient. From a non-musician.
In this gorgeous performance of one of her most beautiful songs, Sierra lets her "jazz mind" and "punk soul" defer to her "country heart." As always, Nate Leath's fiddle accompanies her perfectly.
Her voice is an obvious beauty, but I love the extended instrumental break covering an entire verse and chorus so early in the song. They play well together. Love this
Right? I love when an artist can just "hang out" in a song, so to speak. To not be in a rush to just sing the verses and get it done, but just play and let us relax and get lost in the song for a short time before continuing on.
I love Sierra Ferrell. She is an amazing singer and songwriter. I also like this guy Brett McDaniel. He isn't as well known. So much talent out there. ua-cam.com/video/xVlvlUfiZ34/v-deo.html
This woman has brought back traditional country!! I was randomly talking to this guy at the bar and he told me about her. Ever since then,I been listening to her music. She's such an amazing artist.
I miss West Virginia. If you guys haven’t lived there that’s your loss. West Virginia is something you can’t understand till you experience it. I’ve wanted to do a concept album just based on how much I love that state. It’s one of the best places on earth.
I get it! There's a lot of truth to that statement about an understanding of the people and the culture only by living there. Sierra, through her voice and songs, conveys some of that soul searing intimate knowledge

Sierra is awesome, as always. It must be added, and I think she would agree, that both people in the studio are necessary to accomplish what went on here. The violin and his quiet backup vocals add SO much to this song.
