Is this the best hatchback? £42k Peugeot e-308 review

- It's fair to say VW dropped the ball with the ID.3 - so can Peugeot's electric e-308 swoop in and steal the show? Perhaps - this is one of my favourite hatchbacks on sale! Join me for a full in-depth review of the facelifted 308 and e-308 where we'll look at its swoopy cabin, back-seat space and boot capacity. And if that sounds all too exciting, I'll only go and drive it too. Be still your beating loins.

My boss just bought one of these, and much prefers driving it to his Model 3!
Green cars - the new white cars. Love your comment about Golf 8 and VW 'phoning it in' by the way - totally hit the nail on the head there Tim.
4 miles/kW? Good contrast to Harry Metcalfe getting 1.6 miles /kW in the new
Lotus Electre…. However resale of this £42000 vehicle is likely to be the killer (both buying outright and for PCP), as it’s a nondescript EV and it’s a Peugeot.
Would you not just get a Kia Niro EV4 -Same price, more powerful 201 HP, Bigger boot 475 Litres, Better Infotainment, bigger battery 64.8Kw usable, Heads up display, better warranty,.
Bigger battery means more weight, so less driving dynamics.
Peugeot is providing competitive range at less weight, albeit with slower acceleration (less tyre & brakes wear). The boot in the 308 SW is nearly 100 litres bigger than the Kia you mentioned, too.
No, because this is distinctive and excellent. Kia looks very average. This looks sensational. I'll take a stop in some metrics if it is beautiful in return.
You didn't answer your own question - is this car a VW ID.3 killer?
I don't think so but I agree with you that the 308 is best in 1.2 Puretech variant because its the lightest.
I wouldn't trust the 1.2l Puretech, though. I've heard and read of frequent engine failures, but that's a bit subjective. As long as the electric version has a good thermal management for its battery, I'd much rather go with that one.
Those shield logos really challenge me.. not nearly as much as getting in with my chunky boy thighs would challenge me though. Zut alors I think the old ones were nicer
"Macron Shield" , you did say whinge shield didn't you Tim ?
9.8 seconds 😂😂 my BYD dolphin does that in eco mode! And 42k!! Oh dear
Yeah but if you accelerate like that you'll have 4x the tyre wear...swings and roundabouts sir !
@@tobytroubs not really as it has zero wheel spin and it's not 24/7 oh and my tyres are free...
But yours is a Chinese brand and this is European. This also looks many times better. So, you have 1) supporting your regional economic base (supports your own local economic base) 2) buying based on aesthetic rather than pathetic (acceleration as a decider? You 10?).
@@fairybuddy-angel2035 what 😂😂
@@fairybuddy-angel2035Couldn't agree more with you. European manufacturers are doing a really good job at making compelling EVs while still having to transition from ICE to EV. The Chinese brands don't have to deal with that and can focus on EV only. It's vital for the European economy to invest in it and look a bit further than just the current purchasing price of cars.
Does look nice, just wish they’d lose that peer over the top of the steering wheel malarkey- doesn’t work when your a relative g nome at 5ft 10.
It does work. My Wife is 5'7" & her 308 works for her. It's fine for me, too (6'0"). Drive one, you'll love it.
235 miles 😂 . I just don’t see it
Model 3 killer more like
Peugeot 😂😂😂😂, they've one of the poorest reliability rating a car manufacturer can have, you'd be safer riding a 3 leg deaf & bling donkey.
Absolute BS.
Shows you don't follow the trade reports! Maybe catch up. Only a few years ago the 2008 was rated 1st in the Power survey. You might be chasing cliches (French word).
