I know that UChicago doesn't release their early and regular admissions rates but the advantage of applying early to UChicago especially ED1 is huge, more than any other T20.
I sure hope so!
do you think ED2 will help compared to RD
@sophea3595 ED2>RD for sure but ED2 is more difficult than ED1 in terms of getting in UChicago.
@@sophea3595yeah it will, just apply. U never know unless tou apply.
It all comes down to what you bring to the table. I fully believe that all the tricks in the world won't matter if you don't have enough to offer.
Good video - real substance as opposed to the usual, pretty descriptive explanations of what ED is and how it works.
I would submit to you that ED for a smaller school like Dartmouth, for example, is skewed with the amount of recruited student-athletes in the mix. Around 25% in that early pool are recruited athletes. The school only takes around 1,200 in their entire first year class. 15% of those ED are also children of Dartmouth alumni legacies as well. That is a good chunk of those numbers.
agree
Please did u get in last year?
Please make a trasnfer advice, updated acceptance transfer rate, which colleges to apply to and application help. We have very limited resources. Please help
Thank you for the video. I would be curious as to the difference between Early Action vs Early Decision. Major downside of the early decision is that it's impossible to have the option to compare potential financial aid.
Hi
Please did u get in last year?
I realize that it depends on the college, but FWIW, if you are an international student seeking FA you might want to have a look at what Wesleyan says: “While Wesleyan does not prohibit international citizens applying for financial aid from applying in either round of Early Decision, please note that due to the highly selective nature of our selection process for those students, it is unlikely that we will offer an international citizen seeking financial aid admission in Early Decision. Most Early Decision applicants who are international citizens seeking financial aid will be deferred to the Regular Decision round for consideration with the entire applicant pool.”
Brooke, I really like your videos, they are so clear and honest and to the point and helpful. :)
Does it relate to every college?
Time to start my ED application 🤩
I applied to our local community school with a 3.75 33 ACT and was denied...of course I graduated HS 30 years ago
How can you know where you have a realistic chance to be accepted?
Great video Brooke.
what happen if I apply early desicion but I realize I can’t pay it?
Hi Brooke. Wondering if you believe legacy admissions will continue for the next decade.
Hi.
Please who got in last year
What about Princeton?
no data released. In my anecdotal experience, REA helps. But I have also have a few get in regular there...
Submitted my Cornell ED hoping for the best T-T
Edited: Rejected
All the best😃, hopefully you will get into cornell.
@@abhartThanks! Hopefully in 2 months I'll be able to come back here and say i got in
@@jimnguyen. yup you will, believe yourself and you should be happy that you submit you application to a top college, because many students just don't belive that they will get into there dream school just becuse they aren't perfect.
@@jimnguyen. btw, I just submitted my application to NYU ED. Best of luck again!
@@abhartayy good luck to you too! I was actually deciding between Cornelll and NYU for ED, finished both applications but then chosed to do Cornell.
Should you apply ED if your GPA is lower? I want to apply to Cornell Hotel School ED next year.
Yeah, you should, don't just think that if you have a low gpa you won't get in as many people say.
You will get in, if whatever cornell wants and you gave it to cornell through your essays you know, then you will get in.
Apply, ik people say don't do it. But apply ed to cornell if that's your top choice. Then do it. Getting reject or deffered is better than not applying to it at all and believing that you won't get in.
@@abhart thank you so much!
@@sophea3595 welcome😃
@@sophea3595also search online- what cornell looks for?
Search this one, and use it your cornell supplemental essays.
Tip- most important one, when i was looking for what cornell looks for page, the one that cornell especially cares about is your character and empathy.
Columbia sucks for ED intl students who need aid. They say they wanna compare the whole global applicant pool. I was really heartbroken.
😢😢, still if you have a dream to go to columbia, then apply to Columbia
You have apply to need blind schools for international students such as Brown, Dartmouth, Amherst, Bowdoin, Harvard, yale, MIT
@@abhart need blind is kinda scam, I've seen intls get more aid from need aware schoold
@@abhart I don't think Swarthmore is need-blind for internationals, only domestic students as far as I know. But yeah Need-blind LACs are the way to go if you want to increase for chances the most
@@GizShi yeah, Swarthmore is not need blind, I just saw. Lol
Wasn't Amherst ED 25%?
Any advice for those applying to UGA regarding ED?
Brooke,
For a long time my dream school has been Notre Dame, so obviously apply early but my main question has more to do with my high school.
In your experience, do students from good private schools, in particular good private AND catholic schools such as the one I go to have a leg up in their admissions process?
you matter most-- depends on the school-- some schools are feeders or counselors have relationships ...
Yeah, ND does usually admit 8-10 kids in a 200 person class, so I guess you could say we have a relationship but I’m very glad to hear you say it’s about me and not other external factors. I like to have that sense of controlling my own destiny in life.
Once again, thank you!
Can you tell me whether ED2 matters and by how much? I'm particularly interested in Claremont McKenna.
yes it matter they fill over 60% of their class w/ ED-- check out the blog/chart
The EA/ED also includes athletes. Any discussion on higher chances during EA/ED shud take out data on athletes and no such data is available. So it's more hyped and pointless to talk abt this topic (without adequate data on athletes and other "hook" applicants like legacy).
Kinda sucks that Stanford REA has no advantage
What is Harvard scea
single choice early action
same as REA but they title it differently
@@brookifyd how does it differ from REA?
it has a different name-- every school is slightly different in their restrictions so it's really school by school-- HYPS use "SCEA" acronym. Notre Dame uses REA. But they all have slightly differently worded quirks in terms of what EA schools you can apply to. Stanford allows EA at privates if you need it for scholarship consideration. Yale allows if you are notified in January. Etc.@@Sajeeth_Mohamed
do students who apply ed get less money than ea?
not necessarily -- depends on the school and their aid policies. Most of the tip top schools give similar aid based on the cost calculator-- get out of the top 10-15 and you might see more game playing on aid
