The absolute pain I felt for Branden when I saw that performance was immense. I have been to a slew of incubus shows but haven’t been to concerts in years (had 3 kids lol). So when I saw this clip from 2023 I was floored. I hope he gets to a place with his voice where he is happy and confident. He’s an absolutely amazing singer and performer.
A força que parece ele estar empregando para cantar , a voz dele realmente não é a mesma ! Saudades daquela voz , é incrível que tem certos cantores que a voz é como um vinho mas a dele a idade e a cirurgia afetou de verdade
It is a lot to do with bad technique or lack of it tbh. With proper technique and training you can sing waaaaay longer and with a lot of colour and power
id say he has more nasality now after the surgery likely due to more air flow and resonance in that part of the face. compare the morning view albums original recording to the XXIII re-recorded version, some songs you notice a lot more nasality in his lower mid range, and maybe a little bit of "dryness" simply from having a few extra miles on the vocal chords nowadays, the re recorded version of nice to know you would be a good example. but then some other songs like blood on the ground sound almost just like he did 20 yrs earlier! i feel his technique is mostly the same but theres a change in resonance and timbre / tone from both surgery and age. hes one of my favorite vocalists though sitting in the same vocal range as myself so i take a fair bit of influence from him
Their first album came out in 1995, almost 30 yrs and he sounds basically the same. I saw them live in 2015 and he sounded just like the studio album. I saw them again in 2022 and I did notice he sounded more nasally but now it makes sense since he had surgery and he was also injured but he still sounded pretty great considering.
If you haven’t seen it yet,i would recommend you watch Tarryn Stokes vs Nyree Huyser from the voice au 2023!Both amazing ladies with spot on vocals, singing Alone from Heart

Love you dude
Appreciate you investigating further, he's such a good singer.
I was at that show. That was the Franklin Tennessee show. That was a great show.
I liked your analysis and breakdown between the old and new versions of this song! Thank you!
Yay that makes me happy! Glad you liked it!
Seen them in Philly 2024 and Brandon sounded perfect. Was an amazing show
Glad to hear that!

Will do my best!
❤🌹
Just saw a couple vids of him singing on Kimmel. Made me sad. He was clearly struggling and not just on high notes.
Absolutely loved this - 7 years of bad singing?
Next Alan Walker Who I am❤
He’s just not the same yet. But hoping and praying he reaches a satisfactory level for himself.
LG and INNW era are his best voice.
I think he is quite happy. Age plays a huge role here too btw
