Armidale in the New England area of Australia has an average of 98 frosts a year. They have to often deice the early flights out in winter around 6.30am. Can get down below minus 10 some days and we’re half-way between Sydney and Brisbane just 2 hours drive from the Qld border. 🤣
A big Cogratulations Stef, she is a beauty ! your totally right ...who needs shinny lights ! what a very special moment, wishing you blue sky's and tailwinds #Godspeed
Can't believe that you have bought a SR22 😁 How cool is that. For a minute I thought it was a Vulcanair V1 so glad it's the SR22 though. Can't wait to see you fly it. Well done Stef
Hi Stef. I would be very interested in seeing a video from you of the economics of owning and flying this plane vs hiring and also another one vs flying commercially (as you have already done, but this time, with your plane instead of hiring JKN). Another one that would be interesting would be to do a comparative costing of your outback trip had you been flying your own aircraft. I know it's a lot to ask but all of these would be very, very interesting.
Well done, she looks beautiful. This takes me way back to 1990 when I too bought a plane - a lovely old Beech Debonair, already about 23 years old. Never thought I'd end up with a constant-speed retractable, but there you are, it fell across my path. Owned it for about 4 and a half years, and it gave me some of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life. Sadly it didn't end well. When I decided to sell it, it was discovered that there was corrosion in places where it was NOT allowed. I would have had to sign almost a blank cheque to repair it, so it ended up being the end of its life - it was broken up and the main bits (engine etc) sold off. So we dropped a very large pile of money and that was me out of flying overnight. Still a great life experience though. Enjoy!
Geez IT must pay well....aircraft name easy Milkshake! Great aircraft and as you say it will do all you need it to do....and the hours on the air frame sounds like granny only flew it to church on Sundays! Bout bloody time you got your own and I look forward to the first flight. You should invite us down to the Hawker airport and we can have a First Flight party like the commercial airlines do with music and balloons etc! Glad you have done this Stef (ps what did the Minister for Everything think about the purchase?) Great video!
Congratulations!!!! When I saw the title of this video my heart jumped out of my chest!! 👌👍 Look forward to a logistical / financial topics of owning own plane, where to park it etc? See you at YSBK in your new plane soon!🤗
Stef!!! BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!! And to your EYZ only happy landings!!!! It´s pleasure to see the hapiness in your face! Oh, how I understand you... All boys are the same with the new toy :-))) Really like your EYZ and looking forward to see you up in the sky! (and 3 blades - doesn´t matter)))
Have fun changing over the rego! Ok us 2 months and that was only after I rang CASA and had a tantrum at them as I was over their excuses. But congrats on the purchase! I’m sure you’ll love it and look forward to many more videos :-D
Congratulations Stef. There’s nothing quite like the pride of ownership of your own aircraft. Maybe you could do a programme on how to/ how not to buy an aeroplane?
I love it when I see hard working fellow aviators like Stefan reach personal goals... He is an inspiration to younger and older pilots. Look forward to seeing all the "EYZ-in-the-Sky" episodes! Congratulations Stefan - she is beautiful :)
Do you have a passion for 747as well? First flight 9/2/60 happens to be my birthday (though I couldn't get departure until a year later from my hangar) 😂 Always felt an affinity with them. So sad decommissioned now.
Well done Stefan, you should feel so proud of this. You have set a goal for us on our channel, you inspire all of us who want to share our passion for flying.! 💪🏼
I guessed the SR22 just from looking at the thumbnail. the shape of the front wheel flaring and prop blades gave it away. I make pretty good money, but this is out of my price range. Living in CA is expensive enough without owning a plane. Congrats Stefan!
Looks like a great buy. Welcome to the Cirrus ownership club... look after her well and she will do the right thing by you and give you years of enjoyment. Great idea is Savvy engine analysis before and after each service. And oil analysis every oil change to look for trends. A little cost to save you money in the long run with engine maintenance.
Congratulations Stefan.... buying your first aircraft is a BIG milestone in your flying life .... and was there any doubt that your first aircraft would be an SR 22 ? .... Great Choice 👍... I’m looking forward to following your future adventures in this a/c.
Congratulations Stefan, always wanted to take that step , but never quite had the courage ( and the money to a degree), looking fwd to following your adventures in your own plane 😎👏👍
Congratulations on your purchase. And a bit of a story: I'm in the USA, and up until recently, I had a bit of a time understanding the Australian spoken word--even though it's English. Recently, however, I discovered Australian TV dramas on Netflix ("Offspring" is fabulous, and "Rake" comes in a strong second best). Watching those shows (with subtitles) allowed me to come to understand the spoken Australian English, so now, voila!, I understand everything you are saying. Which, I gotta admit, does make viewing your videos a tad easier! :-)
Congrats. We bought our current plane in 1993 and still have her similar re low hours only had 1250 hrs TT not a Cirrus, I was lucky enough to have the Cirrus dealership very nearby and was invited to their new releases very nice indeed but about $1.1million fly away to replace ours didn't make any financial sense, so half the value of her in new Garmin avionics she is very modern now and a plane we know inside out. You seem to indeed enjoy the Cirrus brand and that's all that really matters at the end of the day being comfortable in any situation and trust in your aircraft. Enjoy and maybe take that bodacious wife and daughter out a little more, would be nice to see them take up the challenge and do a little flying my grandson started at 5 and now 12 and this passion is the airforce or Qantas. PS still can't see over the dash so his instrument skills are better than mine!
Please tell us more about your new plane purchase (hours, condition, price etc...) how does it compare to KJN? Keep up the good work. Looking forward to hearing back from you regards Michael.
Love your videos Stef. Not at all surprised how popular your videos are. Someone looks really happy with his new purchase. You in a share or is this TOTALLY yours. If the latter. Well jel!
Well done Steph. Welcome to the Cirrus life. We have a regular Cirrus owners and pilots get together with bbq at Essendon. Would love to see you and EYZ there. I can PM you the details if you’re interested.
Sounds like fun, yeah shoot me the details. See if we can formation fly in with KJN as well :) Use the contact form on my website and those come to my email: www.stef747.com
Congratulations are in order - very happy for you, I believe you deserve it. Thanks for keeping an old pilot entertained and brought up to speed with the use of modern technology. Cheers, Victor
Congratulations Stef I always thought you’ll get to own an aircraft. Looking forward to your adventures with -EYZ. Great news definitely something special for you:) Dee
EX-CEL-LENT!! 👍👍👍 Great news, Stef and well deserved too, I might add. Trust EYZ has a high WAF and maybe now said Mrs will take advantage of the opportunity to get into and enjoy the new toy! Milkshake can ride on the dash. 😎 "Noice, mate, noice"!
Nice! Pre g1000 G3 is definitely the sweet spot at the moment. Get the extra fuel capacity and avoid the electrical issues of the G2 without paying for the g1000. With the DFC90 it’s just as good as the g1000. Great buy.
You should do a competition to take someone up on a flight with you. You’re so inspirational, and many Aviation enthusiast/ pilots like my self would love the opportunity to go up in your plane and pick your brain a bit! Food for thought! 😊
Congrats Stef. Aircraft Ownership goes beyond just the cost. The freedom to fly when you want without having to worry about when and for how long you can keep it along with the well known statement, "sorry someone else booked it." I hope to see you at Sun N Fun. See you in the skies!
STEF!!! That is awesome news mate, wow what a buy and what a plane. Congratulations on this incredible milestone in your aviation journey. Truely stoked for you mate and can’t wait to see the adventures you and your new Sirrus go on. Many many many likes from here mate, congratulations again
LOVE IT!!!! Great birthday present for @ladyjacqs I do think you should just call it Big Easy (Big Ezy) with that rego. Or Easy Rider. Or perhaps change the rego to FFS? Anyway, congratulations Stef!
Nice plane. Congratulations! When I bought my plane the biggest adjustment was being able to go out to the airport and fly any time I like. This took some getting used to.
Yes! One like = one vote for Planey McPlaneface!
(Not meant CIRRUS-ly XD)
Heck yeah, can’t wait to see some flying content with Planey McPlaneface!
Congratulations Stefan! Love that it has the GFC90 a/p... looking forward to your new adventures with EYZ
Congratulations man.
Will look forward to seeing her on Flightradar24! :D
me too
Good idea
I also use planesfinder on my laptop so I can have Flightradar24 and planefinder on split screen!😁
I typed the aircraft’s tag into Flightradar24, but there isn’t any flight history on it.
Icing in Australia can't happen. That would shatter my paradigm of Australia.
Fly out of Canberra often enought and your dreams of no icing will be shattered very quickly
Does get cold mainly in the south east. Oz gets more snow annually than switzerland. The capital canberra gets get 3 x more days of frost as London.
Only crocodiles right?
Take a trip a place like Threadbo ski resort in the winter, even has a subway system thru the mountain for skiers

hey congratulations! this is exciting news for us all fans we'd hope this only means more and more flying videos!
Congratulations! What a great feeling to buy your first airplane !!!!!! Blue skies !!!!!!
Shirley, you can’t be cirrus!
I am and don't call me Shirely
Can't believe that you have bought a SR22 😁 How cool is that. For a minute I thought it was a Vulcanair V1 so glad it's the SR22 though. Can't wait to see you fly it. Well done Stef

Congratulations for your purchase! Love your videos. And again big thanks for the video you made in Helsinki Malmi airport with Aeropole!
