Hello thank very much for the information, it's really useful. I'd like o ask you if it's possible to say: " I got cat rescued by the fireman" I think it could be possible, however, the theory says that passive causative it's used when we pay for a service. Thanks.
Hi Mab, for your first sentence it depends on the context, it could mean someone did it for you or simply a past tense and using planned as an adjective. For the second example, both sentences are correct but the meanings are different. "I had closed the door." is just the past perfect and "I had the door closed," is slightly unusual but could mean someone did it for you. I hope that helps.
Don't be sorry, even more: -ov - male; -ova -female; Sometimes western people are confusing: the husband has -ov ending, but his wife has -ova ending, and it seems as if they are not the one family :-)
@@oxfordenglishnow I mean that : I........ my hair cut (have-get) I pay for the barber to cut my hair (pay for someone to do something) So in this case what is the accurate answer (have Or get)
Hi, When have means possess or own it is stative and so is NOT used in the continuous form: He has a new car. Not :He is having a new car. He had 2 sons. Not He was having 2 sons. - However, when have is part of a phrase (have a shower, have lunch or in the causative) it is dynamic and so can be used in the continuous form, depending on context: I have lunch every day. / I’m having lunch now. I had a shower this morning. / I was having a shower when you called. So you can say, I am having my pool cleaned. I hope that helps!
"Get" and "have" are both verbs, but they are used in different contexts and convey different meanings. Let's explore the main differences between "get" and "have": Possession: "Have": It is often used to indicate possession or ownership. Example: "I have a car." "Get": While "get" can also indicate possession, it is often used to convey the process of acquiring or obtaining something. Example: "I need to get a new phone." Action or Achievement: "Have": It is used to express actions or experiences, often in the sense of possessing or undergoing them. Example: "I have lunch at noon." "Get": It is used to describe the action of obtaining or receiving something. Example: "I need to get my diploma." Causative Use: "Have": It is commonly used in a causative sense, indicating that someone causes something to be done for them. Example: "I had my car repaired." "Get": It is also used in a causative sense, but it emphasizes the action of obtaining or causing something to happen. Example: "I need to get my hair cut." Becoming or Changing State: "Have": It is used to express states or conditions. Example: "I have a headache." "Get": It is often used to convey the process of becoming or changing state. Example: "I'm getting tired." In summary, while there is some overlap in their usage, "have" is often associated with possession, experiences, and causative actions, while "get" is more commonly used to describe the process of obtaining, acquiring, or causing something to happen. The specific context and meaning can vary based on the sentence structure and the overall context in which these verbs are used.
