      I love the tonneau but I want to put a fridge/slider in the bed. What is the max depth of the bed where the locking bars are?

      Just installed my Diamondback and ordered my rack to install my Roofnest Falcon. I'm in Manitou Springs. Cant wait to get it up in the mountains. Also installed a Tailgate N Go made by a family in Grand Junction.

    I really love that you make long detailed videos that makes actual sense. Its not too rushed at the same time you always hit the points that needed to be put out there for people know which is very significant. We are continuously building our tacoma because of how you have influenced us as well in terms of mods. Especially this diamondback. We finally made the purchase!! Plus the bluetti that just got here. We aim for the dometic next! Thank you for all your vlogs!! Youve inspired me and my husband a lot.

    If you're contemplating getting a Diamondback cover, do it! I have the HD, I did it mainly for fear of a couple black bears climbing up and for work, but it is extremely secure and water tight. Great and informal video!

    I had one of these Diamond Back covers on my '05 Sport Trac and it was valuable in regards to being theft proof. Prior to installing it the contents of my bed could be stolen even with the soft tonneau cover. Another item I installed was the swing out cage that extended the bed another couple feet when allowing the tailgate to lie in the open position. This allowed me to load fire wood onto the tailgate and keep camping gear dry underneath the Diamond Back. We had lots of camping gear and would often load the excess on top of the Diamond Back and secure it with a heavy duty cargo net. Presently I own a SUV but you got me thinking about buying another pick up and it seems like the Tacoma TRD is an excellent choice.

      Last Line Of Defense yeah but the longer bed translates in to a longer wheel base which translates into less off-road capacity, right?

    I owned one for 4 years on my Titan XD PR. Which was a great truck except for all the mechanical failures nearly monthly. Finally I had to take the hit on a trade and got a Ram. Shorter bed will mean new cover. I had the Rear Window guard on my cover also just in case I wanted to tie stuff down on top.. which I had several times.. Even though it was a pain to install due to the slide rails on the Titan... which were great also... I will definitely be ordering one for my new Ram.. I did have the front panel try to slide off once but that was my fault for not locking the handle which allowed it to rotate to the open position and release the latches.. So be careful that you always lock the handle it will be no problem.

    haha, loved how you mentioned grandpa truck. My wife hates the look of a truck with those full size Leer cappers, she calls them old man trucks, i don't necessarily like the look of them, but i do really love that i can use the entire space to fit everything i need to, right now i have a lid type cover, its all one big lid cover, no sections, it hinges an lifts up at the rear window of my truck, my generator for camping literally just barely fits in the exact right place. I'm still looking for a cover that i really love and for to fit my needs, these diamondback covers might just be what i'm looking for, but i'm still not crazy about the tri folding type covers

    No need to apologize for the chickens. I find them inviting. And good review on the tonneau cover because the one I currently have is a bit of an inconvenience when I can only get access to the bed and folding open the tonneau by opening the tailgate. I'll definitely keep dropping by for more ideas for accessorizing my truck (not to the exact tee, of course).

  • @jamesoncross7494

    Take a look at the Honda Ridgeline. it has a trunk in the bed the locks tight and has a gasket to keep it sealed from the weather. Those truck covers don't keep moister out and things will rust. Take a look at on. It drives smoother than a regular truck.

    I share the same opinion about toppers. Ive been debating this cover vs a shell. I traded my f350 for a toyota. I dont haul 5ers or goosenecks anymore. This cover is awesome. It has the benefits of a flat bed and a normal bed. Pretty ballzy to leave a firearm in there. You need a Ravelco. Google your closest dealer.

    Sweet cover, a Tacoma is such an amazing truck you can help but want the best for it, if I had similar needs as you I would probably get this but since I use my truck bed almost everyday to load large objects into I like my roll up,Velcro cover, this cover featured here would create to much of an obstruction and I wouldn't be able to get large items in without taking the whole dang cover off!

      Last Line Of Defense I had an F150 4x4 crew cab a few years back. loved it but I'm not 100% sold on turbos. they tend to be high maintenance and major weak points as far as bug out vehicle is concerned.

    • @LastLineOfDefense
      @LastLineOfDefense  7 років тому

      Yeah turbos will always have a little more overhead, so I agree there. My brother has the Ecoboost though, and his truck feels like driving my old GTI - the Taco and Tundra are dogs in comparison.

    • @SDA7337
      @SDA7337 3 роки тому +1

      I love the Tacoma short bed. I have departure angle scrapes as it is. If I had the Long bed I probably would have much more damage. Plus it depends on where you like to go. For me the smaller truck seems to fit better on tight trails. Maybe in taking out my ass and the tundra is the same width. It just looks wider to me. For desert the tundra would kick ass. Then there is the gas mileage. The Tacoma gets about 14 at 70mph. Or less. I basically average 14. I think the tundra would be closer to 10-12. Again guessing. These are the things I would consider is all.

    Good, thorough review. I wonder if Diamondback should put a locking mechanism on both sides of the front piece rather than just one, so that it will hold it down tighter on both sides. What do you think about that? And another question. At the end of your video here you are sitting on the front piece with the rear piece open at an angle. Can that rear angled piece of the cover support your weight easily without being damaged if you were to lean against it, or maybe two of you doing so side by side looking at a laptop screen say you place on the top of the cab infront of you? And same if you are sitting on the rear piece and the front piece is open and angled, with that take the weight easily of one or two people leaning back against it? And on a side note, I'm leaning towards getting the HD, but I like the idea of using the closed cover like a back deck at your home. Put a couple of lounge chairs and maybe a cooler up there, even an umbrella over the seats to block out the sun, or not so you can see the stars at night, but you up off the damp or buggy ground. Seems a nice little plus for a hangout option.

    I was able to find a used Diamondback HD for my Colorado ZR2 on Facebook Marketplace for $750 and I'm stoked. Obviously 1,600 pounds is 200 more pounds than my truck is designed to carry but....damn, this thing is burly!

    Yeah but once you put the bed rack on your bed is far more difficult to use. I would definitely do a truck vault instead if you were going to use a bed rack

    Awesome cover, couple of questions. Is that small shelf that you keep the get home pack an add on or something that comes with the cover? Also you have an orange ratchet strap across the center of the bed. Is that part of the standard install or something you added to help stop it from swaying or something?

    You should put a tow rope in the back just in case. Always helpful
