The dbs was the first ship I ever truly used happily. Grinding out for federation rank doing courier missions. While I eventually moved on to the dbx and beyond I still love the little thing. I plan to turn it into my fuel rat ship when I get back from beagle point.
All I need these days is a small, quick, agile ship with good hardpoint placement and weapon convergence. It helps that I've always been a fan of the Diamondback's looks. I hate the Cobra's weapon placement and its minimum effort design and I get much more enjoyment from something like the Keelback. DBX was my main ship for a long time many years ago, if I have any spare time in between making money and patrolling the galaxy to keep baby seals safe, I'll give the DBS a spin. o7 Commanders
Given this things excellent inherent heat management and being very nimble this is a great fighter to fit railguns or plasma accelerators! It's great fun and can obviously handle the heat
Yep, did play with both PAs and rails (although neither made it into the edit) and it took to them so much better than, for example my Imperial Courier (which currently holds my personal record for "how hot can I take a ship without triggering silent running")
@@gamingsnipsandbits I managed to literally overheat my Courier from boosting and simultaneously charging my FSD I was surprised at how bad it was at it
Never used the Scout myself, always had my DBX as my bubble bus after all(fully set up for guardian sites etc, 73-74ly jump range, around 650-700ly per full tank). May one day throw one of these together for a combat build for S&G though, I'm kinda lacking on engineering materials right now, so gotta restock those first.
I've really enjoyed running this little thing in combat, so it's worth a look IMO - wasn't sure how well it would go to start with, but managed to rack up a fair few credits, and it's fast enough to escape if excrement hits the air-distribution device 🙂
A great little ship. I have one fully engineered for exploration in hazardous areas because the rebuy is so cheap. Sure i could take my asp or phantom which have far more capability and range, but 5X+ on the rebuy if things go sideways. Max jump range on mine is 59.8 LY if i remember correctly.
An interesting and mostly overlocked ship, thanks for the good review! If you need a temporarily seat in a fully decked out exploration Dolphin, give me a call :D
I've been really bad at keeping on tabs with the comments on this one as I've been hammering away at the Dolphin video to try and get back onto some sort of schedule - if I'd been a bit more with it, I'd probably have dropped you a message :D
@@gamingsnipsandbits I like you had some nice words about the dolphin, a wonderful ship :D I would love to say to you don't feel rushed to get a schedule, but I also know you probably set yourseld a schedule and my words are kinda useless xD Yeah I would offer you more seats, but they are 38k ly away soo not any time soon sadly
It's certainly got the potential to be in the same league for me as the Viper. Before putting this together I was always a bit "meh" about the DBS, but it's now one of my frequent fliers.
Haven't gotten around to buying one yet. I don't mind the cost for the ship, but the engineering mats to make it go are the part that's holding me back at the moment. Eventually I'll get around to it
Little by little for engineering if it's not going to be the regular ship. This might be a controversial opinion, but the mats for anything up to Grade 3 engineering are pretty easy to come by, and usually enough to get a feel for the ships potential - then from there if you like the ship, a few visits into the black will help get all the mats you'll need to finish it off.
It's a meh ship. I did take a look at it but couldn't get much out of it. My pathway is Sidewinder. Goal hang around the police to bag bounties to Cr. 2 Million. Then into a Hauler for Road to Riches or Stratum and down to 15% discount area with enough money for a Viper Mk III for pew pew and trade in the Hauler for a DBX for getting around and landing on planets with an SRV.
@TheTaquitoProject you're right man but this probably the kinda guy that literally never touched fa off, buys a conda and points it at stuff until it pops. Of course he can't be arsed to do anything else that might even make him a better pilot! Noooo anything he's bad at is trash!

Fantastic Ship - I use it for Ground Strikes (4 dumb fire missiles, Scarab etc) - then it feels more like an Apache helicopter.
That's something I'd actually not considered it arming the DBS with - I might have to go and do some more experimentation on it now 😀

Good on you commander! Great video!

I tried it a few times, but it didn't catch fire -- perhaps because it runs so cold?
Mine is green, I call it Nasty Gnat. Fun to do combat with, like it better than the Viper.

Ship is very fun, engineered modules in these sizes are good to have if you like tinkering with small-smallish ships too
The only problem I have with this ship is "I'd rather be in a DBX". I honestly don't see the point of this ship.

Fdev should finally get rid of that "1 hit gets you the whole bounty" mechanic. It would make the game much more fun.
It's the biggest P.O.S. in the game.....
How wonderfully uninformed you are
Build it as a stealth fighter and do some pvp

Nope, can't agree with that I'm afraid - it's a fun little ship and feels more thought out than for example, the Federal Dropship
