Slightly late with uploading this one (usually aim for every other week), but made it in the end - this time I'm looking at the Imperial Eagle - the smallest ship from Gutamaya. Hope you enjoy it 🚀
Ahh, my favourite ship... I have way too many of these, and flown them way too far (first CMDR to ever bring one to Beagle Point, pre-engineers, pre-neutron-boosting) Excellent review all-round! I just have a few comments to make as someone who's been flying- and been a fan of these since the day they were added to the game; - While the ship description itself suggest a retcon from Elite II, I just thought I'd mention; Originally, it wasn't actually based on the Federation's Eagle MkII, but rather the original Eagle MkI which was made by an independent manufacturer (if I remember correctly, Faulcon DeLacy or a predecessor of them). The Eagle MkI was such a popular and well-performing ship that both the federal and imperial navy commissioned their own versions of it; the Federal Eagle MkII, and the Imperial Eagle MkIII, both of which were generally considered inferior to the MkI. - Might just be me misinterpreting the war-leading-to-innovation comment at the start, but the Imperial Eagle was added to Elite a while before the Thargoids were, and long before the Thargoids first became hostile. Not to mention the ship having lore-wise been in service for a long, long time. - It's kinda hard to spot, but IIRC this is the only imperial ship to come equipped with a coffee maker. It's in the far back of the hallway by the door, right hand side when looking from the chair. - Top speed is 932 m/s, identical to the Viper MkIII's top speed, but unfortunately it has difficulty keeping that speed due to the underperforming power distributor, whereas the Viper doesn't. - Jump range can hit 40+ Ly nowadays (or up to 50 Ly if you happen to have the rare double-engineered 3A FSD), enough to get to Beagle Point and back with ease and without synthesis. Will take more time than a 70 Ly Phantom though, and I'd highly recommend an extra fuel tank, but the look on people's face is priceless. - I'm about 90% sure the rank requirement for the Imp. Eagle has always been the starting rank for the Empire. I cannot recall there being any when it was first added. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though. Combat definitely can take a while depending on the build, but there are certain weapon choices that actually work reasonably well. - Cytoscrambler shred shields like nothing else, but is locked behind powerplay, have limited range and do 0 damage to hull. It's normally on par with a large fixed beam, or you can turn it into a
Yeah did a little bit of exo-biology with it - it's got all the small ship perks, the only downside I found was the tiny fuel tank - easily remedied if, as you say, you have a carrier travelling with you though. Either way, managed to make a few credits to offset the next load of purchases, so can't complain
Absolutely in improvement on the basic Eagle. Great fun to fly. It does take too long to chip away at ships though. However, if you are in a wing with other Imp Eagles or others in something larger, it is quality fun.
This is the young man's hot rod spaceship and the mamba is the midlife crisis spaceship that old men think impresses ladies. Naturally I have both and no that's not a toupee on my head my hair is always puffy.
Ah, the Inferial Eagle. The fast ship choice of the confusedly-losing racer and deluded wannabe. I'm still laughing at the boost punch stuff. Comedy gold.

Great info shared here 😃
Thanks 👍
I do fleet carrier based exobiology from my imperial eagle as it can land anywhere and range isn't an issue

The I-Eagle represented The Planetary Gamers well at the last Starfall meet-up :) Made for some beautiful cinematic moments in the "snow"

The krait mk2 boost sound tho😍
It's one of the most fun to fly ships out there competing with the Viper, if only it had a bonus medium hardpoint and a bigger power distributor...
I got one of these into the starter permit locked zone once, near fully a rated too
I bought an Imperial Eagle back in 2015 and there was no Imperial rank requirement.
That's good to know - maybe I'm just going crazy then 😁
2 cytoscramblers and a multicannon or 2 beams and a Imperial hammer railgun go well with this
The superior Eagle.
Good video ty
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it - o7
If your mis-remembering then I am too, I am sure it required a low imperial rank in the past.
