The fact that his brother said the right answer, made it so good, and even worth the walk away. Not everyone can walk away, That was respectable, especially when it's not even his money, Which is the easiest temptation to gamble with someone else's money.
In most cases when it's someone else's money you just don't give a shit and squander it all, but in this case he actually cared about the people getting the money more than himself. From the American "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" show on ABC, this is John Carpenter's 2nd appearance and its during a May 2000 episode of the special Champions Edition. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Woah, John Carpenter Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Part 2! His a cool and smart guy. I loved how he decide fast. He chose to walk away with a that money only to have for a charity. What a nice guy.
The difference between John Carpenter and Ken Basin is that John was confident, knowledgeable, and knew when to back down if he was doubtful whereas Ken was, while knowledgable, showed arrogance, acted cocky, and gambled, even when part of him was unsure.
I'm stunned to find out that GSN's version was sped up. The phone-a-friend timer is faster on GSN than on ABC. The music was not supposed to be slightly fast.
Boristien405 He doesn't know the question before, this show isn't live. It's pretty hard to find the answer on internet in 30 seconds, including all factors, like the speed of his browser and something like this...
alex dulan - the contestant could easily earn his brother before hand. "Hey man, get the computer browser running, I'll call you between 4-7 o'clock tonight" lol
alex dulan - I feel like they got rid of the "call a friend" feature because computers and phones are way faster than in 1999. They're preventing any cheating
If playing the call on a good speaker, you could actually set up a direct voice search. So the second he's on the line, he just says clearly "First baseballer on postage stamp", and the answer is there in two seconds. Doesn't work equally well for all kinds of questions though, as some questions aren't as easy to tailor for a google search, but really effective. :)

VERY NICE. SO NICE TO SEE HIM.
GOD BLESS YOU, JOHN. Damn, i want to be like this guy.
If you watched this far, you have to agree with me this millionaire (from actual knowledge! shock!) had balls to make it back and do it in style again. Million denied for a great reason. Hero status improved. Fucking brilliant.
I'm watching this in 2019. saw the time he won million dollar with such class without using any life line. Second time judges might have made questions harder for him not to let him win. Nomater what he played and won to help people through charity. That's really great side of him. This is the era where there was no Google available or any social media. So this man is purely genius. He got knowledge through his hard work and intelligence 🙏
This guy is one of the only people who can make getting 250000 feel like losing
1 why did you reply to yourself and 2 that second comment is dumb
For real.
This guy really reminds me of "Dexter" the serie murderer from the tv-show
Omg I was literally thinking the same thing!
holy shit you read my mind
YES
does he not look like iDubbzTV? xd
I wish he is like him, killing all the worthless , harming , destructive humans.
I love how he answers the question quickly without hesitation🤣
The fact that his brother said the right answer, made it so good, and even worth the walk away.
Not everyone can walk away,
That was respectable,
especially when it's not even his money,
Which is the easiest temptation to gamble with someone else's money.
In most cases when it's someone else's money you just don't give a shit and squander it all, but in this case he actually cared about the people getting the money more than himself. If he were the one getting the money he was willing to take the chance, but not if it was them instead.
That's the real meaning of family. Not just being born in a particular household or with a particular name.
@@CST1992
It's for charity not family, you're off topic
@@luster5497 I'm not talking about THAT family. You're taking the literal meaning of things.
I'm talking more about "community" family. The people who are close to you, but not related to you by blood.
wait how did i end up here i was watching video games
niko petrinec don't worry , me too lol
niko petrinec u got me there!
niko petrinec I was watching fortnite
Lol same here.
lol same here
His brother's voice and the way he said "hello" is exactly like how his dad answered the phone. It's like he called the same person haha.
It's clear that he said Gehrig at the end just because he didn't want to seem up himself.
"Hello bro, I really don't need your help. I just called to tell you I'm gonna win half a million dollars"
The thing with names is quite common. I personally know a lot of people with the same name as one of their parents, myself included.
Rainbow Nati Is your dad's name also Rainbow?
Andersi Heatherdown, Well, of course, Rainbow is family name, Nati is given name.
If my father's name were Rainbow he'd be complaining about the gays taking the rainbows away from him.
Adrian Boris Fornaciari, What if he were gay?
Rainbow Nati, what if he were a bicycle?
You're still going to work 😂
+anand rai Straight G.
anand rai caught that tooo.. savage
Working when you can quit is much more rewarding than being a slave to a wage
@@johnsingletary4864 no he didnt
@@johnsingletary4864 Troll. He said you're still going to work.
Brother- Tom
Father - Tom
Brother - John
That dad's creativity to name his sons is amazing
I'm shocked to not see anyone saying you're a toxic misogynistic male for assuming only the father named him
@@suryahr307 Holy smoke some random ss dude out here commenting on a 10 years old comment. He was relaxed and chill when he said that. 10 years later and we still have idiots like you.

They are so cute. He said at the end he still has a winner and pointed at her🥰
I feel like the crew saw John again like : "Oh shit, not again, BRING THE IMPOSSIBLE QUIZ"
Beats me... I would have guessed Babe Ruth
Jaskirat Lidder babe Ruth is a guy

Legend has it that Debby has still not vacationed to Paris.
Actually, we know she did, she mentioned it to Regis from the audience on the 10th anniversary specials.
This person is a piece of pure class!🔥
Didn't even take his wife to Paris 😏
From the American "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" show on ABC, this is John Carpenter's 2nd appearance and its during a May 2000 episode of the special Champions Edition. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Hahaha when he says 'you still gotta work' hahahahaha
omg this guys a genius ... how didnt he answer that question
***** But, they work together... since you gotta think to remember and not remember to think except your brain does not work well
Cat Wayne You're the cat this city doesn't deserve.
Sean Puffynipples HAHAHAHA

At least the questions weren’t to easy for John Carpenter the 2nd time around I like a challenge every once in a while.
Yeah, some of his original questions were weirdly easy, it's great we got to see him here and he got to prove he really was very smart
Lol, at the end he said "You still gotta work" that just made my day XD
Oh my gosh, now I feel so stupid for thinking he said "I've still got a wife" 0_0
Damn i noticed it and looking for a comment like this 😂
Good for him. He is my favorite contestant ever.
They probably were thinking oh shit this guys back let’s make the questions harder lol
Dude it's $250000 not $125000
***** Read his username.
like you have $250,000
Kelvin Quah dummy
Fail
Only half go for charity
I had a mental image of the host making a remark: oh I see you have the same wife since the last million dollars that you've won!
I watched him in 99 fell in love! Watching him now and he still is so damn handsome and the most importantly smart ass!
he is iDubbbzTV father
Tucoco Tucoco no he's not.
Βαγγέλης Σταματελος that wouldn't mean anything to someone who doesn't know who idubbz it.
Βαγγέλης Σταματελος also "serlock"
Meteorcow first time on Internet ? You must be fun at parties by the way
when he left the studio he looks like he lost, but he won 250k: D
he is the only person who can do that
his dad and brother has the same name, same voice, and all of them hella smart
"He just knows things."
*tongue click* "It's one of those families!"
Legends say his whole family is named Tom.
Brilliant guy... Too much brilliant...
Woah, John Carpenter Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Part 2! His a cool and smart guy. I loved how he decide fast. He chose to walk away with a that money only to have for a charity. What a nice guy.
He all ready made 1 million he's good
Father and Son called Tom, totally normal BUT!!!!!.... the first question wasn't about actors named "Tom" ?? HUH?
The host automatically read the correct answer in case John might change his answer. 😁 If I were them Ima gonna hire him. This man is genius.
3:38 "You still gotta work!" ......Once again.....Savage
He's just have too much money and decided to walk away.
The difference between John Carpenter and Ken Basin is that John was confident, knowledgeable, and knew when to back down if he was doubtful whereas Ken was, while knowledgable, showed arrogance, acted cocky, and gambled, even when part of him was unsure.
His brother should come and play!! I'd love to see that
He's more than smart! So wise to walk away with the money. I'm humbled by this man.
I'm stunned to find out that GSN's version was sped up. The phone-a-friend timer is faster on GSN than on ABC. The music was not supposed to be slightly fast.
30 seconds felt like 28 seconds when I watched it on GSN. And no, the Game Show Network has never resolved this, as it resumed airing them in 2023.
That's true brother confidence
His whole family is so fkin cool 😂
When ever he needs money he would come to This show and win in a savage way… way faster than stocks, crypto or real estate 🤣🤣
Regis: I got a question that's stumping your brother.
John's brother: No!
lol.
'youve still gotta work' LMAO WAS THAT STAGED?
GOAT
If you phone a friend, couldn't the guy on the line just google the answer?
Boristien405 He doesn't know the question before, this show isn't live. It's pretty hard to find the answer on internet in 30 seconds, including all factors, like the speed of his browser and something like this...
alex dulan - the contestant could easily earn his brother before hand. "Hey man, get the computer browser running, I'll call you between 4-7 o'clock tonight" lol
alex dulan - I feel like they got rid of the "call a friend" feature because computers and phones are way faster than in 1999. They're preventing any cheating
Boristien405 I know what you say, but even though it's hard to find a correct answer in 30 seconds If you don't know the question...
Of course they were going to throw him a curve ball with a sports question 😁
The quick annotation over Lou Gehrig. Nice.
