I'll be your Kentucky cousin and root for you! My word of the year is RESTORE. I'm going to restore my enthusiasm for my home and garden, reenergize my diet and my mobility, and celebrate my family and friends!
I have a suggestion for a video! All the details on selling online. How you go about it and any tips! This would be so helpful! Glad your back. I will support your channel as much as possible.
Wow....I know I have things I haven't used in MUCH longer than a year...Thank you for the inspiration and the "permission". I have always struggled with feeling obligated to hold on to gifts and sentimental things. A great video.
I did that to my towels , they weren’t to bad . But I still couldn’t believe what came out of them . Some cloudy water . Great idea to do that . I’m glad you’re back . God bless you and Jay .❤
Summer, I have a fabric shower curtain and I have not replaced it in 13 years. I was it every other month in hot water. I soak it in powder laundry detergent, baking soda and liquid wash. I soak it for about an hour and there is no pink mold on the curtain. I find it works. I did use bleach, but did not like it and a lady who cleans wedding dresses, uses what I do. I’m so glad you are back. 🤗🤗
Summer thank you for your tips on stripping towels, I have never heard of doing this I’m definitely going to try this. I’ve missed your amazing tips on cleaning with naturals supplies. I never thought of using a cloth shower liner, I really dislike the plastic liner.
Thanks Summer, you've inspired me and given me great direction. I can't wait to take a try at decluttering. You've given me some great ideas! Thanks again!!😊
In case you can not find the washing soda (I'm in Canada, can't get it here), you can make your own ...you just put regular baking soda (I buy the massive bag of arm n hammer at Costco), put a layer about 1/2 inch on a baking sheet. Bake for 2 hrs @ 200 degrees. Let cool completely and store in an airtight container. I have a front load machine, I put 2 scoops (about 2 tbsp) in each wash- regardless of colour. I have extremely hard water..very very hard water. This helps to make the water soft and using this eliminates the need for any type of dryer sheet, or fabric softener or dryer balls. Zero static in the clothes and your sheets, towels etc will be the softest ever :) and of course...you can now use your "baking wash" in the recipe to soak your clothes in the tub like Summer does in this video. I've done this to towels, sheets, clothing. It is incredible :)
Good to see you. Now I’ve got to go visit with your dad😂 When I do the Laundry detox,I use a new plunger. It works amazingly. Plus I have a new plunger. That’s a win-win in my book 😊 Take care
Last week I threw out stuff I didn't touch for at least 20 years. About half a big waste bin, the ones I would fit into. All stuff too good to throw away. This morning, the bins got emptied. I cant even remember what it was. That's an experience I made repeatedly, all that stuff I absolutely needed to keep, I can't even remember what it was after it is gone. Some years ago I build myself a new kitchen. One cabinet is full of mugs and glasses. I put them in the cabinet after the kitchen was done. I haven't touched 99% of it since then. That was 2009. I have other stuff I use regularly, but all cabinets are full. Something horrible is moving towards this cabinet😬 The basement is a different story. Stuff there is more than 30 years untouched. The most of that stuff will get a new home, the waste bin.
Ohhhh I love organizing things, it's so satisfying. I use vinegar and water to clean most of the surfaces in my house and if things get greasy I put a couple drops of dish soap into the vinegar and water solution. To clean my make up brushes I just use a bit of shampoo (I buy a nontoxic environmentally friendly shampoo). If you really want any chrome in your bathroom to shine use a bit of rubbing alcohol on it or even shiny surfaces or keyboards as rubbing alcohol kills germs and dries quickly. Having pull out baskets to store items in deeper drawers or cupboards is so much easier to clean and get rid of stuff because you can just pull out the container. I also do a deep clean a couple times a year. This video got my thinking about the areas of my home that needs a bit of TLC soon. Some of that color in that water from the towels could be from the dyes in the towels especially the darker ones.
Very good content, thank you! I live in Southern CA and a fire evacuation alert area was a half a block away from us. We never had to evacuate but packed as if we did. Which made me realize how much clutter I have that I need to get rid of!! It really does help your mind to not have so. much. stuff!!
So good to see you back Summer!! You inspired me to go down to the second bathroom and clean out from under the sink. It has been to long so, I do not really know what is down there. Question, do you still have your outdoor kitty cat? I always enjoyed seeing him being your little helper. Many blessings to you and Jay in the new year!
Pulling all the stuff out is a great tip. I started doing this to also really clean before I put stuff. And, when I’m putting stuff back, I realize how much can be crammed into a space. 😂
Commenting for the algo: soooooo glad to see you back! I have my own version of decluttering because I have collections from 5 generations before me, so I do go through and try to look at things through my adult kids' eyes, like will there be any interest in this item after I'm gone? Does it need the story attached, or do I need to take a picture and then sell it? My weak spot is organizing and rotating things out, for example I have a vase collection, but I need to break it into 3-4 subcollections and rotate them out for the seasons, because some are great for a full vase of summer wildflowers, while others are only good for half a dozen stems. I"m glad to see you do this video because decluttering videos always inspire me to go through an area I've been avoiding and just getting it done. Keep up the good work!
Glad you are back. Missed you. Are you going to start selling T-shirts? I'd definitely buy one. I think a lot of people would buy one. See you in the next video!
You must buy a lot of stuff throughout the year if you keep going through your stuff every 6 months and tossing things because it doesn't seem like you'd have anything left.
For sure some of the dye is coming out of the clothes, I'm done this with many clothes, towels, sheets etc. My works in a factory, despite washing his clothing regularly they always still smelled of the plant. During the stripping process the water stank so bad I had to cover my nose and mouth to continue it was diabolical! That stench was not from dye. The difference in the smell of the clothes, the feel of the fabric is undeniable ...it IS stripping layers of build up of fabrics, sweat etc off of the fibers, there is no way to deny that is happening. Also...I have done this with towels that are all white, well they used to be white...the water still turned VERY brown, and again, gross smell. That isn't dye as the towels were pristine white at some point. I only ever wash whites with whites, so there is no dye transfer to my white towels. I 100% agree, dark colours WILL loose some of that dye and that will definitely colour the water, but...a whole lot more is also taking place :)
I'll be your Kentucky cousin and root for you! My word of the year is RESTORE. I'm going to restore my enthusiasm for my home and garden, reenergize my diet and my mobility, and celebrate my family and friends!
Love the optimism. I’m going to follow this mind set.
My word is THRIVE in 2025. If it’s not helping me toward that goal, it’s gone. ❤
So glad you’re back. Missed you 😊
Yay!! It’s Summer time again. UA-cam is not the same without you.

So happy you're back Summer. I had no idea you could soak your towels to get all that crud out of them. I'm going to try that. Love to you and Jay!❤
I have done this. They turn out much softer.

New subscriber here. I found you through Cole’s channel. I’ve enjoyed these two videos. 😊

One thing I have found to be helpful is a makeup vanity. You shower, go to your room to get dressed, dry hair and makeup in your room.
Cut tags off, don't pull them off. 😍
We missed you... take care..
I love your blue hoodie!

It's about time, Summer! 😂🎉❤
I would love to see a hair tutorial. I love the style.

You can get a shelf that latches or slides onto the upper shelf (it's wire) so you can utilize the upper portion of the shelf
Since you're throwing things out, are you recycling as well, so you're not throwing it all just in the trash?
😊
In the hotel we changed the fabric shower curtains, where changed out every week and washed and dried... At home I do ours every two weeks
Here
Also you should think about doing patreon, that can help...
They make shelves that hang on to the bottom of the top shelf. That would help you use that dead space! They call them under shelf baskets
Glad you are back. Missed you. Are you going to start selling T-shirts? I'd definitely buy one. I think a lot of people would buy one. See you in the next video!
Laundry stripping is mostly a scam. You'd get the same water color results after soaking in any almost anything.
It’s only removing the dye in the black towels.
❤❤❤
Sometimes less is more 😊
You must buy a lot of stuff throughout the year if you keep going through your stuff every 6 months and tossing things because it doesn't seem like you'd have anything left.
Do You go to Dollar Tree
Your dad doesn't like thieves. Lol
The stripping is only removing the dye.
I’ve read that! But I will say our towels are now extremely soft and don’t smell! So I will take that as a win!

Could u let them soak in washing machine???
Did Cooper get married? How many sister in-laws do you have ? You are so organized!
🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋🏻🇵🇷👀✨️✨️
Greetings from California
Should of put the water and powders in first, then your towels so the powders don't change the colours of your towels..
You are so sweet!
😊
