As someone who grew up listening to Journey, I must say it is very gratifying to see a young person today who "gets it". Steve Perry was one of the greatest rock singers of all time, if not THE greatest, but everyone in that band was excellent. The synergy they had was a combination for the ages. Glad you enjoyed it.
As a person that grew up with Journey BEFORE Perry most people dont get how good Journey was without him. Perry turn Journey into a teenybopper band and eventually broke up the band.
@@BlazinRiver1 Can't agree with you entirely here. While it is true, generally speaking, that the band turned more towards pop when Perry came aboard, I certainly wouldn't call most of what they did "pop". Arena rock, or heartland rock, or melodic rock, sure. They even messed around with rhythm and blues and prog rock on a few tunes. But teeny bopper? Definitely not.
Dude, do yourself a favor and pull up their Infinity album on whatever platform you get your tunes. Get your earbuds, settle in and listen to the whole thing straight through. They've got other hits you'll be able to react to later on and that's great. But that album is an experience. You're welcome.

Steve Perry - one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Unique! Not many could put on such a perfect performance live on stage! Great song, great performer. His replacement Arnel Pineda is pretty dang good too. Cheers Michael.
Steve Perry's vocals are sheer perfection. He legit had perfect pitch. This is before auto tune even existed. I highly recommend you check out more of Journey's music catalogue. Especially Faithfully.
This is the music I grew up with in the 70's. Journey, Queen, Led Zep, Eagles. Couldn't get any better. *REAL* music *REAL* musicians To see people just discovering this magic today hurts and fills me with joy. Hurts because generations missed out on it, but fills me with joy because it is still here making an impact. There is sooo much more Steve Perry/Journey to discover, you can't find a bad one.

Steve Perry’s voice is iconic- no one like him.. one of the best- this song is one of my favorites- you are correct- music today is not made like this anymore- this was pure raw talent-
You don't get music like this anymore because they stpped worrying about talent and started worrying about your look with auto tune they can make anyone sound good enough as long as you look the part that one song video killed the radio star and its true before the 80s it was all about talent now it's all about how you look on video but even though they can make you sound good enough but you can't reproduce the sound live
I think it is because most songs come from song writers that shop around for a singer and whatever music they have for the song was just reworked samples from other artists. These guys wrote their songs in their garage as they played.....I miss the old days of the 80's big hair bands....lol
First time I heard this song I was pulling into a motorcycle shop on my Suzuki triple to buy a rainsuit. Raining HARD, soaked to the skin, I sloshed in the door and asked the guy at the counter if he had a rainsuit in a size small. I was single, sad, lonely and raising two kids by myself. We talked, I bought the rainsuit, and he called the next day (got my phone number off the check -- glad it didn't bounce!). We've been married 40 years, and neither of us has ever stopped believin'... the best magic is real, and it's in someone's arms!
Back then I was in school and had no money. If I heard the song at all it was on the radio while sitting in the back seat of the car riding the hump, with other people talking about whatever, and they kept turning down the radio so they could talk. While this was horrible conditions for enjoying music, it was ideal conditions for developing the ability to memorize songs from fragments on the radio. Me and my friends would hang out at night and sing these songs a capella and bask in the beauty of them. I had never gone to a live concert but I knew my wife's favorite band was Journey. I found out that they were coming to a town within a short drive. I bought tickets and told my wife we were going to meet her sister in that city at an Olive Garden. She did not know where we were going until we pulled into the parking lot. She was blown away but so was I. They were great.
I love this, when people hear Journey with Steve Perry as Lead Singer. He’s known as The Voice, and I don’t don’t think these guy’s ever did a bad song. If you keep going with Steve and the rest of the band your in for a mighty ride, that I can promise you. 🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
I was there... Journey was such an awesome band...for ever I am a Steve Perry fan... was so sad when he walked away. I understood...but, still... one of a kind voice!
I’ve seen Journey live a few times. Once in 1982 at Day on the Green in Oakland when they debut the song Separate Ways, it was awesome! Steve Perry is a legend!
The music back in the day was MUSIC! its was feel good music that came from the spirit, heart, and soul. It was positive. "Lets get out and live life." "I'll be there" "You are my best friend" "I love you" "Keep going." "It will be okay". These were what the songs were about. Most people under the age of 40 cannot get that because if it's not a boy or rap band singing about taking a woman or killing something, then they think it's just dumb or something to mimic or mock. These type of songs need to be brought back. And I do not mean remade.
Steve Perry is considered one of the best to ever do it. Listen to Faithfully (my all-time favorite), Separate Ways, Open Arms. I grew up listening to them & am proud to say I am from their hometown. Plus, all of them are prolific songwriters and musicians.
Can honestly say one of my regrets is never being able to see Journey live with Perry. This had to be epic. Did finally see them with Arnel and it was pretty incredible. Great reaction - and you're right, there aren't many performances like this anymore.🙂❤
Steve Perry is a consumate performer and his voice is perfect. I totally love him! There's no reason this kind of music can't be resurrected today. It's possible!
Hey, just found you Michael, enjoyed your reaction and subscribed. I am a 1980's girl and I was able to see Journey perform live at the "Hartford Civic Center" in CT in 1986, a night I will never forget! I absolutely love Journey and Steve Perry, who has an incredible voice. I don't know if you have listened to anything else by them, but would recommend "Lights", "Any Way You Want It", "Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin" and just about anything else they have done! 😊
I'm always blown away (and thrilled) when young people discover the music I grew up with. Journey is one DEEP rabbit hole to go down. I hope you take the ride. This is just the beginning. Check out 'Mother, Father' performed live at the same show.
There's a reason why his nickname is 'the voice.' I saw them on this tour and it really was an incredible show. Really enjoyed your reaction to this one, too. Could you check out their song "Escape." It's too often overlooked and has some great transitions; I really think you'd like it!

Steve Perry is known as The Voice. A moniker given to him by Jon Bon Jovi. His range spans from F♯2 to A5. Perry's voice has been described as a high 'tenor altino' somewhere between Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin. As part of Journey and as a solo artist, Perry has an amazing collection of hits. Everyone will suggest his Journey hits and his early solo hits like Oh Sherrie. But Perry released an album in 2018 called Traces. And his voice still shines! Check out We’re Still Here and all the rest of Traces. He is still AMAZING!!!
This is what 'REAL' singing 'LIVE' looks like and 'SOUNDS LIKE!!!' If you really want to hear something AMAZING?! React to 'Mother Father' from this same concert!! Us Classic Journey fans call that performance a 'Masterpiece!!!'
My generation of music, your right, they dont make it like this anymore. An erra of music, talent, raw skill, great bands, amazing lyrics, and showmanship.
Journey my favorite band ever! Jump in the Journey deep end !!! The water and tunes are absolutely fantastic!!! Never a bad song. Jump in dude with both feet or head/heart first. You won’t be sorry. Journey On!
I just discovered your channel and love your genuine reactions and I was 15 and got to see Journey in concert and Foreigner frombany song on the 4 album every single rocked but the Eagles for 10 years put out some of the greatest music and Don Henley one of the keas singes and he was the drummer as well also the group wanted to start again but Steve Perry didnt want to and they found this Filipino boy singing just identical to Steve so find them they started touring again with this kid they found on you tube and btw you rock😍🤙
If this is your first time hearing Steve Perry, you are going to really enjoy Journey. When I first started listening to music in my youth, I didn't really pay attention to who sang the songs. I just knew what songs I liked. But when I started to buy albums, I had to start paying attention to who sang the songs. I was blown away by the number of songs that I loved that were Journey songs. They are an amazing band and Steve Perry is a PHENOMENAL vocalist!!!!
So weird because this specific concert was my second concert ever. The first one was the Texxas Jam a few weeks before, which was an all-day festival at the Astrodome with REO Speedwagon, Foghat, Heart, among others. I was 12 years old and went with my older sister and her friends.
Growing up than all our bands are legendary. It was just our lives to go to concerts, that's what we did. 60's, 70's, and 80's . Great memories connect to bands. Where you were, who you were with. That's what us teens to young adults did. So meny concerts. Great reaction
Journey was one of my top fave bands, the only one that I had every album. So in love with Steve Perry, his voice, and emotions. I saw Journey in concert in Hawaii, when Steve Perry had much longer, shiny black hair, swinging across his back as he sang and moved around. I was far away from the stage, loving the band, especially Steve, but thinking it’s not fair that a man has that beautiful hair!!! Gorgeous man!! And he still is a Gorgeous man, with his beautiful voice and hair!
Dude he's one of the greatest singers to ever live. Nobody can be seen like him. He had the equivalent to Eddie Mercury if anybody. Plus he grew up in my hometown so I'm Prejudice LOL look it up Hanford California
I am so excited seeing YOUR excitrment over this best of all time songs!! You see, music really was at its best in the 70s and eighties! And Steve Perry? A LEGEND!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Amazing!! I was at LSU in 1981. That year LSU had a major concert on campus. 20 bands, speewagon band first time on stage. Kansas, Boston and yes Journey!!!!!. I paid 5.00 dollars, what a night. Steve Perry voice, showmanship, willingness to perform in a heavely level is something that will never forget. He was humble when he stated after the concert " I gave my all to this audience". What an amazing performer, he is out of this world 🗺
If you are truly just listening to Journey for the first time, what a rabbit hole you have in front of you!
he's a joke .. first time hearing Journey .. yeah .. right !!
More like a nuclear silo, 300 feet down, lol. What silliness. Has he ever been to the mall, a supermarket, the Walmart !
Yea its hard (impossible) to believe this is an actual reaction video. Got to say tho, that Journey's first 3 albums are the best.
There is no way he just heard Journey. Come even my 10 year old knows who Journey is.
Ya got THAT right!! 🤣🤣
Freddie Mercury was once asked, "What is it like to be the best singer in the world?" His response was "I don't know, ask Steve Perry!"
I'm fairly certain I'm one of the very few who sees what you did there. That said, Neil Schon wearing an MTV tee shirt is too cool.
Steve Perry is far and away better than Freddie Mercury!!! Steve's voice is iconic!!!

If you really want to hear something AMAZING?! React to 'Mother Father' from this same concert!! Us Classic Journey fans call that performance a 'Masterpiece!!!'
Fantastic reaction! So happy to see your joy in these discoveries. Nosey question though, why is there a jar of Helmans behind your head? LOL
This is why the eighties were the best. So glad to have been a teenager graduated in 88.
My generation of music, your right, they dont make it like this anymore. An erra of music, talent, raw skill, great bands, amazing lyrics, and showmanship.
Faithfully. Lights. When you love a woman. Must listen too. Best voice ever! Even Freddie said Steve was the best
This guy said that he had never heard of this band, the singer, or the song before. What a damn shame !
He’s from Sweden, name one of their rock stars

Journey my favorite band ever! Jump in the Journey deep end !!! The water and tunes are absolutely fantastic!!! Never a bad song. Jump in dude with both feet or head/heart first. You won’t be sorry. Journey On!
Steve Perry is known as “The Voice” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin” is the most downloaded song of the twentieth century.
He’s the voice! Forever and always my favorite!❤️
“Can you imagine being at this!” Yes I can, I saw this tour live in 81 in Hartford Connecticut. It was just as incredible there.
Your reaction is priceless! This voice was my youth. No auto tune. Just talent! Love me some Steve Perry
FIRST TIME hearing JOURNEY?? WHAT?!
No one cared what the hell he wore. Saw them 3 times in Hawaii. Amazing
Wait…you’ve never heard this song before? The most downloaded song of all time and you’ve been living under a rock. I’m finding this hard to believe.
Steve, The Voice, Perry sang with no auto tune. He is the GOAT.
Most perfectly accurate live singer in the rock genre.
You are so right about the talent
Steve Perry's voice is incredible ! ♥
Steve Perry on vocals - amazing. Neal Schon - guitar - amazing as well. You have to check out Stone in Love from the same concert.
Yep, Stone in Love is so underrated. It's probably my favorite Journey song, except that it's too short.
Yeah thats what yah call TALENT!! LOVE JOURNEY!!!!
This song hits and will always hit.....🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.....I get chills as soon as he says I met her in a smokey room
Journey is iconic and Steve Perry’s voice is so full of soul.
He considered among people in rock n Roll to be in the top ten male vocalists.
There will never be another ... Seen Journey with Steve Perry on there last tour with him . Journey in my opinion will never be without Steve.
You are absolutely right; they DON'T make music like this anymore!! I will be forever grateful for being of this era!!!!
I was at that concert. 14 years old.
Houston summit. Bryan Adam’s opened. My first concert.
I was in the third row in Cleveland Ohio for the Escape concert this was amazing. No auto-tune straight up like the record
Journey was one of my favorites back in the day… check out “Lights/Stay Awhile” his vocals are phenomenal!!
Go down this rabbit hole….you won’t be sorry. This guy - “ The Voice”. Talented men,all 5 but that guy out front…..vocals on a different level.❤️🎼❤️👍
Thanks for sharing your sincere reaction. I totally agree with you. I grew up during that time. God bless you!
It's always a relevant song, no matter what the age is. I love this!
Dude he's one of the greatest singers to ever live. Nobody can be seen like him. He had the equivalent to Eddie Mercury if anybody. Plus he grew up in my hometown so I'm Prejudice LOL look it up Hanford California
I know what you mean mate. Just like the first time I heard this I was like whoh. This is F'in amazing.
Steve Perry's solo album is totally incredible from beginning to end. Steve Perry is an Amazing singer song writer!
This era''s music will live on for generations long after all the rap hip off and current garbage will have long died out and been forgotten.
I grew up starting in the 50’s listening to raw, God given talent. So glad I lived through those years.
