Worked like a charm, thanks. One thing though, DON'T YANK THE CABLE OUT! If you look at the tan plug the cable goes into, on the top right side is a black U shaped piece. That piece lifts up to unlock the cable, and then it'll slide right out.

jonikrthst Everyone, please listen to this man. You should never tug ribbon cables out. The seating mechanisms lock and unlock for easy installation.

i am using a Samsung BD D6500. After i went to samsung service centre, they told me maybe need to go to service center for a cost between 60 and 100 $ for repairons thé trouble. I decided to search online for diy solution and found this video clip, it works like a charm ! The only downside is touch screen is disable, which i dont even uses it from the first day, so it doesnt make any diff to me, thanks for this marvellous clip !

I have the same model than you, I unplugged the connectors inside for around 7 hours I connect everything again and works perfect including the display, I did the same process years ago with a Samsung LED TV (not a smart tv model) the tv turned on and turned off several times and after disconnected all connectors inside and connect after hours around 7 the tv start to work without problem I bought the tv in 2013, the tv was supossly fixed by Samsung customer service just to fail again after 2 months, a external technician fixed and the same result after two months or three, now we are in 2023 and the tv is working perfect after I disconnect and connect everything after hours

i am using a Samsung F6530, after i went to samsung service centre, they told me maybe need to change the mainboard which costs around usd300 !!! I was like, are you crazy? i bought it brand new with 5.1 speakers at usd500 brand new, somemore they only give me 1 month warranty for the mainboard, i decided to search online for diy solution and found this video clip, it works like a charm ! The only downside is touch screen is disable, which i dont even uses it from the first day, so it doesnt make any diff to me, thanks for this marvellous clip !

I have the e6500w and had the same problem. I contacted Samsung (it took an hour and a half to talk to some one) and they gave me a number to call with no help. I called Best Buy and talked to someone in the Geek Squad and he told me that it would cost me $50 just to look at it and with it being 10 years old that most likely they don't make parts for it anymore. I was about to give up and then I saw this video and gave it a try. This worked, so far one and a half hours later the volume is fine and so is the surround sound. I just followed what the guy in the video did, it took maybe 15 mins. You Tube is the best, saved me $600 for a new unit, and thank you to the guy in the video for sharing nice job!!!!!

Thanks a lot man, your advice saved my blu-ray player. My LG BD550 was having the same issue, but since it doesn't have a touch display (and after checking that had nothing to do with the remote) I tried to remove internally the power button and now it's working again.

A million thanks!!! I have a 5 yr old Samsung BD-E8500N and about a week ago, it all of a sudden started turning on and off all the time. When I came across your video, I decided to give it a go.... and it was a piece of cake:). It works perfectly now, except that I cannot control it by the front panel, but since I hardly ever did that anyway, I am happy just to use the remote control. When I can do it, anybody who knows how to use a screw driver can do it! It saved me for a lot og trouble and money I don't have to spare. So thank you sooo much!

Upon searching the internet for solutions, it seems to have been a massive problem, really seems like Samsung made some massive mistake with software or hardware.

Have seen this problem with our 6100 model in the last couple days. We tried this fix and it worked beautifully! Our configuration under the front panel is a little different but same type of connectors. Just pulled the ribbon from the small connector on the board to the front panel and now it works just fine with the remote only. Thanks! :)

I had fixed this issue in the exact same way a few years back but never really felt it was a solution that I was satisfied with since I could no longer use the front panel buttons.
However, I recently acquired a Blu ray player that had a bad blue laser with the exact same facade as my player but its touch sensitive buttons were still good. I ended up doing a front panel swap and now my machine is fully operational again. I don’t plan to press these buttons too often in fear that the problem will occur again but it’s good to know that I can if the need arises 👍🏻🙂.

  • @tomwaters3814

It worked great! If your remote doesn't work after doing this, you removed the wrong cable. The wide cable on the right needs to remain connected. Disconnect the smaller black ribbon cable connected in the middle of the display.

It's good to know I've not lost my mind! My BD D6500 is doing this exact same thing. However, I need my front panel to eject the disc. My remote doesn't have an eject option. I've had my player for 10 years and it's been perfect until now. I guess 10 years is not a bad run for electronics.

Karen, I have the same model player on hand, and perhaps I'm a little too late but you do have the eject button on your original remote, right above numeric "1".

Thank you for the excellent instructions. I have had difficulty trying to figure out how to remove the cover to begin the repairs for 3D model # BD-D6500 and had this thing sitting unplugged for over a year. Now I can go back and give it another try. Fortunately I had another Samsung 3D Blu-ray player # BD-E5900 in the bedroom that still works perfectly and using that one in the meantime. In search of your information I've found hundreds of people with the same Samsung Blu-ray player issue and I'm curious why this is happening to begin with. Samsung should take some kind of responsibility because obviously this is a widespread defect on Samsung part. Thanks again and I'll let you know if it works.

I have a similar Samsung model, mine is Blu-ray plus surround sound system, so not exact model. Anyways, it worked after viewing this video! however, be cautious on removing the wiring. I pulled the wrong one first and it was for the display itself, not the sensor. I was too rough and it damaged it, so no display anymore other than the eject display. the on and off malfunction is history and it works again (I use it for my audio mainly). as long as you have the remote as stated, you'll be fine. thanks !

In case you have an older version (e.g. Samsung BD-E5900) with no touch screen and yours only have regular buttons, you can follow steps 1-5.
Now, instead of finding a ribbon, you will see the tree buttons on the board. The one of the right is for on and off. What I did was that I unplugged the on/off button, (how you do it, it's up to you, I pretty much yanked it out with a flat screwdriver from the board as I was just about to throw away the damn thing into the garbage can) once you have done this, you can resume steps 8-12 and voila!

I don't have any special knowledge. I took my unit apart and found where the wires from the buttons connected to the main processing board, and disconnected those wires. Your unit is is a different model, but hopefully the same idea applies. Another comment mentions the J5700, but does not say if the issue was addressed. You might want to reply on that and see if that person is still active enough on UA-cam to notice and reply. Good luck! I hope you can save your unit.
