I was in Bosnia and Croatia when I was in the Army for a year 97-98. Awesome people, beautiful Country, and have no issues in buying a product made there. Those people have been through hell the likes of which most of you can't imagine. I plan on getting a Springfield pistol as sion as I can afford to.
People complaining about the Grip Zone tag LOL. There you have it Springfield, people are moronic enough not to buy this product due to a label. Never mind how awesome it shoots and how reliable it is, nor how long Springfield Armory has been around -- it's all about the "Grip Zone" SMH.
Frank Kramer Then you would obviously love the normal XD because Springfield has already stated that there are no internal differences between this and the original XD/HS2000. The only difference is the way the outside looks
I had an XD 40 (4inch) for years and never had any issues with it.. so it only made sense to get the Mod2 sub compact 9mm.. I LOVE IT!!! I take all my tactical classes with it and it never let me down.
I purchased this gun about a month ago. Wow! Totally agree with you. Love it! The feel of this gun in your hand makes shooting even more fun! The Grip Zone logo on the side never bothered me since my hand is usually over that part anyway. I agree with you; the feel of the grip in your hand is just something that has to be experienced for yourself. Take a look at this weapon! You won't regret it!
I just love this pistol, it looks a work of art, definitely would be my EDC if it were legal here in the UK but i still want one none the less, Springfield mod 2 for me thank you, best wishes America from the UK.

Amen! My XDM .40 is such a great gun! After nailing the the first 6 targets without missing I actually stopped and looked at the gun as if something was wrong...!! Nothing wrong, just shocked at how easily accurate it was right out of the box!!
I got the XD Mod 2 3" 9mm on my dealer's recommendation. I was looking for something high capacity yet concealable. Honestly I can't find anything to not like about the gun - it's an absolute joy to shoot! The grip safety gives me an added layer of comfort when carrying it chambered. I carry it in a Galco Summer Comfort at 4:00, and printing is very minimal for the 13 round magazine. I don't care what it says on the grip - I just love this gun!
I agonized for a long time -- Glock, M&P, FNS, Sig, Walter, I now own both the Springfield subcompact and 4" mod 2 bi tone Models. Ready to go right out of the box. I don't need upgraded sights (unless I want night sights), upgraded trigger or springs. Excellent quality throughout and a fun shoot. Feels great in my hand. I don't notice the palm grip or the "Grip Zone." I have over 500 rounds through each. No issues whatsoever. These pistols are a superb value.
I had one malfunction in 2,500 rounds and it was when my friend shot it one-handed with a limp wrist after we had already put about 1,500 rounds through it that same day. Failed to eject and caught the round as it was coming out of the slide. Other than that, it ran perfectly through the other 2,499 rounds with almost no cleaning in between.
This was a great review. I was having a hard time trying to see which firearm to buy next. I had the XD-9 Mod 2 in mind but after watching this review it was an easy decision. I currently already have an XDM .40 Caliber and I love this weapon. I constantly take it to the range. Thank you for this really in depth review.
This is my go to gun.. Fires ever time no jams no f.t.f or f.t.e. I have the original HS2000 9×19 and the mod 2 the grip and sights are spot on.. Eats all ammo like a double stack Pez dispenser.
I've had this pistol for about a year now, and I can say it's my favorite striker fired pistol I have owned. Flat shooting. accurate. and feels great in the hand. The trigger isn't bad at all either. The new grip is leaps ahead of the models that came before it. The only rival as far as feel is the PPQ, but it doesn't match the accuracy for me. As far as the grip safety... If you pick the gun up and hold it... IT'S OFF. "Holy crap is it that easy???" ... Well... Yes... It is... Just saying. No different than a 1911. That argument is now invalid. Great review Sootch. I know it's an old review, but after almost 4k rounds through my MOD 2 I had to go back to this one. I have had ONE failure to fire. That was with a reloaded round a buddy made. Put it back in and it fired. Would buy two more if the wife would let me.
Accurate, reliable, high capacity, easy to shoot, simple to maintain, extra safe to carry without being fussy. I keep trying to beat this handgun for all-around utility and can’t do it.
I never thought I would own this gun. I did some research and I didn’t like the mixed reviews and after shooting a glock, m & p shield, Walter, ruger, and a Taurus I ended up liking the XD mod 2 the best.

Turbo, I apologize for the hateful replies here. I have the original XD9 and it is a fantastic pistol - other than the trigger - which I replaced with the PRP Drop-In Trigger Kit. Now it is perfect for my uses. I like the newer XD9 Mod 2.0 that I'm getting one for my daughter so that she will give my XD9 back to me after "borrowing" it for the last few years. It looks like the "Grip Zone" will fit her small hand better than my XD9 and that the trigger won't need the PRP kit. For what it's worth, I like the XD9 much more than my Glock 17 and my M&P 9. It just "fits" me better.

After researching a lot for my first firearm, I eventually decided to get this pistol in the .40 S&W version. Best decision ever, great firearm, highly recommend. I am now 3000 rounds in and not one single failure.
This is the second gun I went out and bought after watching your review, and I couldn't be happier with it. Keep that great info flowing. I had a deep concealment holster made from Multi Holster and I can't believe how well this gun carries for the size. I can carry this and an extra magazine wearing nothing more than jeans and a tee shirt and you can't see it at all. I got it for more of a bedside/full size backup defense gun, but I now carry it all the time. Something about the way it's shaped(I'm sure body type effects this as well), it just hides extremely well. It actually prints less than my Glock 19 and the grip is definitely longer on the Mod 2. They need to put this out in a .45. They have the sub compact in .45 but not the full size yet. I'll be the first in line when/if that hits the shelf.
I really enjoy your reviews. Unlike others who 'review' you do so without trash talking and that goes a long way. Hickock45 is the only other reviewer I watch. You and Hickock45 are on par. @@dps6198 I like the xdm it holds 19 rounds and that's something I like so I want to know which one to buy cause I like the xd mod.2 as well. I want a gun to go to the range to shoot and get better lol
I'm a petite size female and when shopping for new EDC for myself, I seriously considered a XDM. I also loved the feel of the grip. Fit my small hand really well. I ended up with S&M Shield. The weight factor of the gun won out over all and I did not like the grips on the XDS. Easier to conceal the single stack. When I have the funds, I will be purchasing a Springfield Mod. Just have to figure if I will go with another 9mm or the 40. I will warn that if your wife ever shoots your XDM, you might end up loosing it to her.
If you have not held the 2.0 XD either it's subcompact or service model 4.0 you don't know what you are missing. Yes there credits out there about the XD. The grip and feel is what my wife and I carry.
@@semiauto3148 Actually my husband ended up getting an XDS 45 which is his EDC. I recently got an Shield EZ as my second pistol. Okay, maybe my third or forth LOL. A girl has to be able to accessorize. Right?
I agree with just about everything you said brother. I've got the 3" XD9 Mod.2 and when I take it to the range I use the 16-round magazine with the extension and it's just such a pleasure to shoot. I love the damn gun, and the 3" version carries fairly well with the 13 round flush magazine. The grip safety is a non-issue on this weapon. It's almost impossible to put your hand on the gun and NOT depress the grip safety.
I HAD the subcompact Mod 2 3". I sold it and bought the 4" service model. It's even more accurate than the sc. The grip feel is so good on this pistol that it's right up there with my CZ PCR in feel. That's saying something, as CZ is widely known for "feel" with its metal/alloy guns. Good job, S'field!
Another winner from Springfield. Love the features. GRIP ZONE? I thought it was a marketing ploy for young shooters. OK by me. LOL. I like the grip safety being a horseman and hunter. We don't all live on a shooting range or in a paved city. Lots of brush and limbs and snags out in nature that could enter the trigger guard. I like the tactile indicators awesome idea for the dark of night. And in the country it's dark! Thanks for a great review.
I just bought this model two months ago. I added the Talon rubberized grip material. It is very comfortable and shoots great. I liked it so much I just bought another one just like it yesterday. It was on sale for a great price with three mags, just like the other one. I highly recommend this pistol.
"The engineers at Springfield Armory studied the hand....they did a lot of research to come up with this grip." Pretty sure you mean the engineers at HS Produkt.
@@barfo281 Who said that they did?... But it is Springfield that imports it from Croatia (HS-Croatia hand guns)...Thats why it's called the Springfield XD's...Okie Dokie?👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.
I have one as my home defense weapon. Its really smooth and easy to carry. I have taken my 15 year old daughter to the range and it fit her hand just right. Great choice and good review.
GREAT vid, Sootch. I've had mine for roughly a month and a half. I love this pistol. For me, it's the best feeling of the polymer pistols (Glock, M&P, XDm, H&K, Walther, Ruger, FN). I love the sight picture (which is borrowed from the XDs, right?). Mine came with a case like the old Sig cases (from the early 2000s)...and has the holster, mag holder and loader.
So far I have in my arsenal the XDm9 and the XDs9 sub Compact. Both high quality, superior pistols. Now I guess it's time to ad the XD9 mod 2 as per sootch00's way thumbs up. Great review (as always) by the way.
I love mine. Feels great in my hand. Recoil impulse is very light to me. Accuracy is beautiful. Double and triple taps take no effort. Great review sootch. Keep them coming brother!
i love the XD series. I have 4 of them. But i don't get that "Grip Zone" marketing. Springfield, we know where to hold the gun. You don't have to label it. Great review Sootch
This is truly a great pistol. People really need to stop knocking the grip zone UNTIL THEY HAVE HELD AND SHOT this pistol. Sure its a marketing tool....but once you experience this pistol, well enough said.
my carry gun..love it..feels balanced and shoots great with zero hiccups..The front sight glows nice..Comes w three stainless mags..Mine is 45 acp.I carry 230 ball ..nuff said
I'm buying this because it says "Grip Zone". If I ever have to pull this weapon on someone, I'm going to flash that Grip Zone handle to them for an added degree of fear....they will know that I'll be in firm control of this weapon!! That should deter them even more!
Thx for the review. I scooped up one of these today brand new that had been backup stock for 410 bucks. 4 inch barrel 9mm. Filled out a few questions on springfield armory's website and they're gonna send me 4 extra mags w a holster. Glad I waited for the right deal.
I like the look and feel but if I were to pick one up, I would have to stipple the "Grip Zone" branding right off it. It is entirely a visual aesthetics thing but I have held and used firearms for decades now, I am well versed on where to hold a gun. Just like "HOT" plastered on a coffee machine, I don't need an ever present reminder branding or instructional, I don't need it. They could have put it on the gun/box as a sticker to promote it for a new buyer instead of molding it into the gun as if it was a billboard. I do like the XD's, HS Produkt makes a good gun, I have a 4.5" XDm as one of my USPSA Open Division guns and it is a good shooter.
Like Mike Campbell above mentioned the safety stampings, I just don't like arbitrary crap on my guns. Part of the reason I like older firearms, that and build quality and fit & finish is usually better. I know some like the "Grip Zone" moniker is marketing and other stuff is all lawyer induced like the safety warnings, both of which we are stuck with in the real life idiocracy movie. I know i'm just being a grouchy ole codger shaking my finger from my soapbox but I would just rather stipple that garbage away with my own indelible mark. I would go with a hard bordered panel that looks factory. The Talon grips are okay but I would rather it be good without stick-on stuff.
Hands down, the best Mod 2 review I have seen on UA-cam. I liked the intro and the actual review was very informative. Great video!!! Now I am torn between keeping my standard XD or trading it for the Mod 2.
Good review. Just picked up the sub compact today and am loving it . This is the only gun I have rented as accurate as my glock 26 which I have shot thousands of rounds. with . Expect it to be my new carry gun soon. Thanks for the channel , keep up the good work.
Just to be clear... this is the service model being reviewed. A full size 4" bbl duty model 16+1 round (free states) in 9mm, and not like the 1st out 3" bbl model or "sub-compact" Mod.2 13 rounds, for CCW and 16 rounds w/extended mags in 9mm. Though both are awesome firing pistols, and despite the "Grip Zone" on the grip it is not as noticeable as it appears on camera, and for me personally is a non issue. Thanks for the review +sootch00... great as usual. Tube On!
Can't do the XD series. How much higher could they make the barrel above the grip? At least Sig's are all steel so the higher bore isn't really much of an issue. If Springfield's goal was to make a more complicated Glock with more muzzle flip and un-necessary safety, they succeeded (and no I'm not a Glock fan boy). Also I know where the grip is. I don't need a label. . Also gotta love the big.....SPRINGFIELD ARMORY USA...on the slide.... tribute to the great American Springfield brand. With the little made in croatia on the other side.
Lol looks like a garage gun? Which means you've never shot it. Sound like the anti-gun people who says guns scare them, but then tell you they've never shot or held one
Thalium - fyi, there are many more factors that go into recoil and muzzle flip than the bore ht. Most people can only see the bore ht so the rest is way above their analysis capability. I have G19, sigs, cz, etc and can attest that shootability goes far beyond just a measurement of bore height !! I agree with Sootch, this gun is VERY nice to shoot!!
I have this. It's a form of protection. If you're showing it off I guess it could be a thing. I care only that it may save my life one day, and this thing performs man. I hope you get a gun that gets you that nod of aesthetic approval. Good luck and stay safe
"Grip Zone" Oh so that's where I grip the gun. Without that cheesy labeling I would have never known. Where is the trigger zone? This should really label it too so I know if and when I need to use it.
Gilitar "Grip Zone" is not letting you know where to grip the damn thing. Any intelligent person would know that. "Grip Zone" is simply the name Springfield gave to the new grip design on the gun.
I purchase one about 4 months ago. Great gun. I did do trigger mod on mine. It just was not as good as I like. Replacing the trigger improved the shot group. Well worth the money. I use this as an EDC rotation. OWB is best. Thanks for the report. You hit everything correctly. God bless

@@trevantesturrup I have mine fully loaded with 17, no issues.
The most trutworthy person in the gun reviewing industry.Great personality. Keep the good work unbiasdely.Thumbs up.
DaelithTN I know this has been a long time. But did you ever get a second pistol ? If not .....You should check out the hellcat...it’s awesome
@@semiauto3148 Actually my husband ended up getting an XDS 45 which is his EDC. I recently got an Shield EZ as my second pistol. Okay, maybe my third or forth LOL. A girl has to be able to accessorize. Right?
DaelithTN hahaha. Yeah... I’ve got quiet a few my self. But it’s the guy thing with me
I agree with just about everything you said brother. It's almost impossible to put your hand on the gun and NOT depress the grip safety.
ive got the subcompact. absolutely love it
I HAD the subcompact Mod 2 3". I sold it and bought the 4" service model. It's even more accurate than the sc. The grip feel is so good on this pistol that it's right up there with my CZ PCR in feel. That's saying something, as CZ is widely known for "feel" with its metal/alloy guns. Good job, S'field!
Just got this exact gun a few months ago. The box yours came in is much nicer. Mine looks more like the glock box. Absolutely love this gun
Springfield didn't design nothing on this gun. They just bought the licence. The gun is developed in Croatia, HS factory.
Some special police forces in my country use this gun and it is called HS-9
Is there an updating version to incorporate a silencer for the XD-9?
absolutely love this handgun.. as a 1st time gun owner i believe i made the best choice for 1st time owner.. thanks for making this vid
every time I watch another gun review I fall more in love with my G19.
I have the Mod 2.0 in .45 acp, absolutely love the grip and the gun. Shoots extremely well and accurate.
Its HS product u dumbass
I just bought this model two months ago. I added the Talon rubberized grip material. It is very comfortable and shoots great. I liked it so much I just bought another one just like it yesterday. It was on sale for a great price with three mags, just like the other one. I highly recommend this pistol.
"The engineers at Springfield Armory studied the hand....they did a lot of research to come up with this grip."
Pretty sure you mean the engineers at HS Produkt.
😂👍
Same handgrip Angle as the 1911 models 👍.
@@ellissmithjr6599 Springfield had no input in development of XD pistols.
@@barfo281
Who said that they did?...
That is one nice firearm! haven't heard of this model till now. Thanks for this review sootch! Awesome job as always 👍
One of the best polymer nines out there, to me better than a Glock.
I dropped my Glock 19 for this XD. Great gun...awesome factory grip and trigger.
made in CROATIA first product call HS2000 official gunfor Croatian military and police it was development in war first name was PHP
I got the 5" 45 ACP and love it. It is so well made it feels like I am shooting a 9mm.
right side slide release would be great
Dude is a warrior shooting around those barrels looking BA with his hat on backwards with his fishing glasses
Mine came with a case like the old Sig cases (from the early 2000s)...and has the holster, mag holder and loader.
when i went to gander, i held about 10 pistols. held the Springfield and said i want this within 4 seconds. love it
So far I have in my arsenal the XDm9 and the XDs9 sub Compact. Both high quality, superior pistols. Now I guess it's time to ad the XD9 mod 2 as per sootch00's way thumbs up. Great review (as always) by the way.
P.S. Gun Buyer: $411. Out of stock at the moment.
I love mine. Feels great in my hand. Recoil impulse is very light to me. Accuracy is beautiful. Double and triple taps take no effort. Great review sootch. Keep them coming brother!
I really enjoy your channel, you make awesome videos that are very detailed and helpful...keep up the good work bro.
CV Tech
I carried this on my duty for 2 years , perfect full size duty pistol.
Is it bad that I want one that also labels trigger zone and danger zone on the barrel with "sighting device" in front of sights?
i love the XD series.
RedboneCH so true i love it its so comfortable
I have the XD Sub compact model. Absolutely love it!
Just picked up a brand new mod 2 .45acp in 5 inch. $359
my carry gun..love it..feels balanced and shoots great with zero hiccups..The front sight glows nice..Comes w three stainless mags..Mine is 45 acp.I carry 230 ball ..nuff said
I'm buying this because it says "Grip Zone". If I ever have to pull this weapon on someone, I'm going to flash that Grip Zone handle to them for an added degree of fear....they will know that I'll be in firm control of this weapon!! That should deter them even more!
😂
Should I buy 3 of their guns
+mytmousemalibu Just get talon grips and you won't see it
Like Mike Campbell above mentioned the safety stampings, I just don't like arbitrary crap on my guns.
My first pistol was a XD40. Still have it and carry it everyday..
Wish they would lose the grip zone advertisement on the handle. It's not a vacuum cleaner.
hahah! Thats a good one.hahaha!
really guys its not that bad,lol
1900stratoliner get a dremmel and carve it out
Hands down, the best Mod 2 review I have seen on UA-cam. I liked the intro and the actual review was very informative. Great video!!! Now I am torn between keeping my standard XD or trading it for the Mod 2.
kaç grm silahın ağırlığı?
the 'Grip Zone' thing on the pistol is really cheesy looking
Imagine if they left that off... someone might grip the slide instead.
+MillerLite179 Dude very dangerous indeed if that wasn't on there
...that's like somebody labeling the steering wheel in a car.
+The Russian Bear picked up a mod1 instead because of it lol
+The Russian Bear - You have to have a mullet to buy an XD anyway so cheesy is required.
This is my first gun I purchased. I love it. super easy to use always ready .
Nice gun!!
I own a Springfield XDM 3.8 in 40. I bought it in 2014 for a few dollars over the $700 mark with a box of rounds.
I'm all confused now. XD this and XDS, XDM that. I'm schooled now. I think. Sorry Glock fanboy. BUT IM OPEN MINDED at least with guns.
Pick one up Friday, 200 rounds on Saturday good shooter. Have a Xds 9, 3 inch for carry.
Guess I am a Springfield fan, love em both.
I reckon mend that everybody buy a Springfield armory xd mod.2 45acp
What's the difference between 9mm 40mm and the 45acp
@@trevantesturrup it 9mm 4s&w and 45 acp. The 40s&w and 45 acp are bigger and hit harder. 40 s&w has snappy recoil 45acp is easy to shoot .
@@andrewgates7508 I want this pistol to be my very first gun
Good review. Just picked up the sub compact today and am loving it . This is the only gun I have rented as accurate as my glock 26 which I have shot thousands of rounds. with . Expect it to be my new carry gun soon. Thanks for the channel , keep up the good work.
??? Am I experiencing deja-vu? lol
+pharmdr Kim I made an error in the original so this is the new and improved edition : )
***** cool!
With the little made in croatia on the other side.
he addressed that. its very minimally higher than the block.
John Galt shut the fuck up.
Just bought me one of these brand new as my first firearm ever ! Imma have some fun shooting it really soon !
how did you like it man just bought mine today?? any issues or anything I need to look out for
JESUS HURTADO it’s a good shooter. Fits really good it my smaller hand and shoots really well. I haven’t had any issues with it.
@@reycangri cool man thanks for the response
Made in Croatia
Them fellas there make a mighty fine handgun. Hats off to them.
Just put granulated Talon Grips on a regular XD and your fine. No reason to bump up in price for the Mod 2 version with newer style grips.
Great firearm, but "Grip Zone" on the sides of the grip is kinda cheesy.
Optimus PotatoHead who cares...this firearm kicks ass...
I have this. It's a form of protection. If you're showing it off I guess it could be a thing. I care only that it may save my life one day, and this thing performs man. I hope you get a gun that gets you that nod of aesthetic approval. Good luck and stay safe
***** Exactly
John Galt haha wow
Awe GRIPE ZONE waaah waaah my pussy hurts
I've had the original XD MOD 2 in 45 acp since they first came out and i've loved it.
The fact it says "grip zone" on gun makes me wonder who would design something that tacky! lol
Just bought the mod 2 a couple days ago. So far I really like it. My only issue is trying to put 16 rounds in the clip without destroying my thumbs.
"Grip Zone" Oh so that's where I grip the gun. Without that cheesy labeling I would have never known. Where is the trigger zone? This should really label it too so I know if and when I need to use it.
Gilitar
"Grip Zone" is not letting you know where to grip the damn thing. Any intelligent person would know that. "Grip Zone" is simply the name Springfield gave to the new grip design on the gun.
I realize that.... It's still cheesy as hell!
why dose it matter it's reliable grate pistol
Lol
Personally I think it looks kind of dumb
I purchase one about 4 months ago. Great gun. I did do trigger mod on mine. It just was not as good as I like. Replacing the trigger improved the shot group. Well worth the money. I use this as an EDC rotation. OWB is best. Thanks for the report. You hit everything correctly. God bless
