I quit on World 5. By world 4 I stopped enjoying the game, and it was at that point that it just got ridiculously frustrating and cheap, to the point where it was actually a physical stress to keep going. But I did. I remember trying and trying and trying on 4-7 for days and days, and I'd watched every video on the level many times - analysing every little detail and jump and movement, and after losing almost *200 lives* on that nightmare of a level that gave me so much stress and frustration, I finally beat it. But then came world 5 with that damned cheap, bad-level design bird's castle, but that was nothing compared to the cave that followed, so I quit, and it was worth it.
This game took me SO LONG to beat. The last boss wasn't hard at all, but the level before last, the one where you start with the birds and platforms, took me like 3 months to beat. I wonder how good you need to be to 100% this game. Even though, I absolutely love this game. It is pretty fun, and I like the inclusion of other characters as babies giving new mechanics ^^.
I actually got that first try it was the third to last level the puzzle cave one that messed with me cuz I didn't know how to get the egg past the lavafall.
@@Mr.Face222 you should've ranked them best to least, that's more conventional. I was about to bash on you for ranking New Island higher than the original Island. lol

I really like the dual-screen dynamic they went for. It's such a refreshing take on the classic side-scrolling platformer genre. It makes the environment feel much more vast even though you never actually cross over to the top screen. My one complaint about this longplay is the fact that there is no gap between the screens and the images don't line up as they would on a DS

Yoshis Island DS has to be one of my favorite games! I love the graphics, how its about the yoshis, I love the interesting challenge the game gives, and I love that it can be played on the go since the DS/3DS is a handheld! Some levels though, I definitely will never like them and am not interested in replaying them. I don't understand what's wrong with the soundtrack and why people are calling the music bad. I prefer the first game's soundtrack, sure, but I also do enjoy the soundtrack in Yoshis Island DS, some the songs are really fun and nice to listen to! Overall Yoshi's Island DS is a really fun game that continues the story from the first. I can't wait to finally play the first Yoshi's Island, hopefully I'll get to this year! I'm trying to get a SNES Classic or something. If you want to hear a actually bad Yoshi's Island soundtrack, listen to some Yoshis New Island music. Not ALL of it is bad, I actually enjoy listening to some of its music! However, you can easily tell all of its music is a remix of the exact same song over and over again...so it can get boring after a while. It seems the case may be the same with Yoshis Island DS for some songs, but its harder to tell they're remixes, at least for me it took a while to realize. Also, some of the songs in Yoshis New Island feature a rather annoying kazoo sound.
In my opinion, this game's soundtrack as a whole is just... kind of "meh". Don't get me wrong, there are some tracks I genuinely love, specifically "Flower Garden", "Flower Fields", and "The Wildlands". But otherwise, many of the other tracks are okay at best and forgettable at worst.
Sweet stuff:i can easily tell thanks to my knowledge about sequels how this game manages to be a perfect sequel to the original "yoshi's island" 1)expanding the universe:the previous game establishes itself being a prequel to all the other mario games by showing mario's time as a baby, this one shows that other characters like peach, wario and donkey kong where also babies at the time, with the third one also confirming that the current DK isn't donkey kong junior. There's also a few places of yoshi's island we haven't seen before like the pirate ships with shy guys on or the wildlands 2)continuing the story:this game takes place after the previous game, while the baby mario bros managed to get home safely, adult bowser has traveled back in time because he needs to get the 7 star children that will grant him unlimited power, he does so by kidnapping every baby, with a stork managing to rescue a few of them and taking them to the yoshi's so they can stop him 3)expanding themes:this is the type of game that doesn't have themes 4)leaves an undeniable impact on the franchise:this is the only game in the yoshi series where you can travel with babies aside from baby mario, there's also a lot more in terms of gameplay and level design, it has a right place to be in the mario timeline and it's extremely hard during the later parts
