Great Akurdet now it’s small village it destroyed by Ethiopian Army in the early seventies no one returned home unlike the other cities in current situation it will never change but who knows if the regime change people might return to their homes and start building their cities Akurdet where the revolution started doesn’t look good

The same like here in South Africa.. It is a beautiful country but government corruption is ruining it all.. Crime is rampant because government officials, the Courts and the police take bribes day and night.. Two times I have been shot at and got missed by bullets. Only once, the man whom I knew got arrested but was freed by a Court in a manner that was obviously a corrupt decision by the magistrate...Yes.. we are not having the same issues that you have in Eritrea, but we envy you because you can walk the streets without fearing violent crime..

Born a d raised in Eritrea now living in Sweden I like asmara more and offcourse the reason is its my home country but apart from that it was engineered by Italians and it gives a different vibe to live there. I used to take walk every day, temperature is average and the style feels you are in old style italy. Beleive me That style is far better than Dubai. It gives a better feeling.

I am from Asmara. you are right it’s very expensive specially, with the wages you can get there and I understand you couldn’t go further with $700 specially the exchange and like you said you cannot even use any emergency credit card. Yes you can use credit card but you have to go to the government bank and it is costly to exchange it. It’s a horrible country. I left 42 years ago from there to Canada. I have been there a few times in between. I’m sad to see it this way. we have the worst dictator government. Used to be a beautiful country not anymore but thank you for your effort to go there and report what you can with limited resources..
