16 Gb base is great. Many of us just wont upgrade until there is a bigger screen though. The studio with the studio display just isn't what we want. Too expensive for what we get.

I am seriously impressed with Apple's level of innovation. 16GB of Ram is just the most innovative thing I have seen this year! And also the faster processor from M1 to M4 is like 40% faster, in the same form factor and display size. I'm just waiting for Apple Intelligence to launch properly. The adverts look great, but experience is lacking?

I'd like to do more photography/video when I retire in 3 months and just last week started thinking of the new iMac M4. Will upgrading to this new iMac help with photography and video editing? Also, I for one like all of the color choices. Variety is the spice of life.

11 months ago I purchased and iMac with the M3 chip. Selected 1 Terabyte for the SSD, 16 gigs for RAM, and Apple care. Total = $2,065.00, and just for kicks, I tried to see would I get if I were to trade it in for the new M4 chip equipped iMac: $625.00 was their offer. I think I’m sticking with the lighting cable connection for the keyboard and mouse. Thanks for the video, be well. Soli Deo Gloria
there is no reason to upgrade if you have the M3 and 16 GB. the performance increase is not something the human eyes can see. Plus you are still getting outdated wifi 6 and a potentially terrible webcam unless they figured out to dramatically improve it from what they put into the Studio Display.
I am pleased that the base level iMac now comes with 16 Gb of RAM and that the baseline iPad mini comes with a 128 Gb SSD. This is because Apple produce very few units that are not inadequately specified base models. It is very difficult to buy anything other than base models in a shop. The two iPhones that I have bought were half price unsold old retail stock. I did not have the option of buying the amount of flash storage that I wanted with them. I bought a 2 Tb SSD for my PC for £200 2 years ago and then a faster 4 Tb SSD for £200 recently. This shows that Moore's law still operates in the manufacture of flash memory (and RAM). Apple should pass on these savings to their customers and double base flash storage and RAM at no extra cost every 2 years.
Regarding four Thunderbolt 4 ports, most will not buy that option. Most will buy the most basic M4 iMac with two Thunderbolt 4 ports. A cheap $20 dongle to compensate for the port difference.
If the camera became anything like the one they put into the Studio Display....stay away from it unless you wanna be that fool on Teams or Zoom that always looks like your on windows 95 and a Logitech camera from the same year. Lets see when the reviewers actually get their hands on it.
8k 120hz 😂😂 so they are going to use upsacle tech for none gaming apps. Great job Apple. The most powerful GPU rtx4090 soon to the be rtx 5090 can't do that with upsacle.
I am sorry but I HATE all these colors Apple is offering ... note to Apple: I am NOT a 12 year old girl getting pigtails before marching at a pride parade. These colors make the expensive computer look like a rainbow t-shirt there is nothing professional about them. It turns your computer into a toy. If Tim wants to add his love of rainbows fine but give more neutral options as well for those who are not playing in a Candyland board game. Jobs would never allow this reading rainbow crap.

The irony is that my 2016 MBP had 4x Thunderbolt ports, before Apple reduced them (yes, one had to be used a a charging port, but still!).
I'm finally planning to upgrade my late 2015 27 inch iMac to a new model, can't wait.

Have M3 iMAC, will only upgrade when a bigger display comes out. External FireWire storage best way to go if you need more space.

I don’t like the new design. It looks like a flat cardboard box unlike the iMacs of yesteryear during Steve’s reign.Those were works of art.
