Charlie Parr’s music seems to have always been around. In particular we could never get the sort of driving guitar of 1922 Blues out of our heads. It was a real honor to be able to shoot with Charlie, and to get this song feels like we’ve really made it. This song has been on just about every one of Brian's playlist for 10 years.
We caught up with Charlie at the Kinney Family Farm in Fort Collins, CO. The Kinney family is half the magic that makes up the Cloverlick Banjo Shop. Beyond being great friends, they are always an open door for us when we need a location to shoot. They make a damn fine banjo too.

My father was born in 1922 and passed in 2023 at over 100 years old.. He road the rails looking for work in the 30's and fought in the pacific theatre in WW II.

Hey! Talk about being inspired! I’m a paramedic from Quebec. And on my shift this morning heard this on UA-cam music. I’ve listen to this all day. I have to tell you that I bring my Jim Dandy with me at work. I’m usually in open D. But not today! I’m in G and rocked this tune in the back of my amb. Oh my. You’re not looking hard enough, Charlie is great, but there are SOOOO many good folk artist that speak to an every day man…. Benjamin Todd, Tyler Childers, Matt Heckler, Zach Bryan.
All great modern Americana/ folk singers.

whats this style of guitar playing called, any videos out there on how to learn it?
Think it’s called finger picking.
This type of stuff is kind of like blue grass.
If I recall I think Rev Robert Jones has a video on UA-cam about something called the biscuit roll which is a guitar playing technique similar to this. But a little slower and easier to process. Hope this helps!
