Life has always had a kind of soundtrack for me, my memories fit nicely in the grooves of the records that played through those times, specific records, too, the very ones themselves, complete with the pops and scratches in just the right places. I have them now, waiting in the basement to haul me right back to whenever I want to go. Last fall I took this trip and played some guitar in the East and my soundtrack was mostly various versions of the old blues/murder ballad "Delia," Blind Willie McTell, Koerner Ray and Glover, David Bromberg, and on and on, the song was the thing. When I didn't crave Delia in all it's form I was listening to Spider John Koerner and Willie Murphy's amazing Running Jumping Standing Still over and over. The news is always bad, you can count on that for sure, so when I got tired of hearing all that bad and harsh news on the radio my soundtrack would kick in to save me. By the time I left Richmond VA though the world had gotten more grey than normal and I drove in silence to Hillsborough, NC where this record was made. These songs felt a little different to me than others I’d written, like they had different goals in mind for themselves that I didn't know about, and now they woke up to whole new way of sounding themselves out, turning into a new soundtrack for me that I hadn't really experienced before, one of my own music. I was pretty happy when I left the Triangle and turned the radio off and rolled all the windows down, listening to the wind all the way to Knoxville, TN. -Charlie Parr

This humble man's music saved my life. At a time when things didn't ever seem like they were going to see the light of day; one amazing day I walked into a venue in Duluth, MN and Charlie Parr was about to perform. That day I began see the world with brand new eyes and to present day, I've seen his performances several times in Duluth, MN when I lived there. Now relocated in GA, and after 3 long years later, someone notified me he was going to perform in Atlanta a couple of years ago. Traveled 3 hours, walked in the venue and once again, was able to find balance with this amazing man's music! Charlie Parr is one of the most amazing artists out there! Will always be a true fan!

Many years traveling throughout this country; it wasnt until my travels brought me to Duluth, MN where a life path journey crossed with this amazing musician playing his 6 string in a way that changed the way I viewed the world. This man's music kept me alive and made me see the world like no other musician could. Thank you for your time, all your amazing songs, and how you continue to amaze us all with your music.

A couple years ago Charlie Parr was doing some shows down south and he stopped to do a show in Atlanta. So I took my younger niece ( who was officially at her first ever music show!) and she got to meet the Amazing Charlie Parr! Great performance and even though it had been 3 years since I left Duluth, MN; it seemed like it was a shorter amount of time greeted with a hug and a handshake. Hopefully future tours might head back to this area soon😌🪕🎶🎶🎶🎶

Charlie Parr is one of the greatest living folk singers and poets he truly knows the beauty of simple things and the songs he crafts are new gems for future generations
I've seen him live several times, he always ends his session with "Ain't no grave can hold my body down". Simply amazing cover of a great song. He is a real gem.
My favorite song of Charlie's so far. First heard it in a historic barn at Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park in southern Minnesota. The ending always gets me.
That was the second time I saw/heard Mr. Parr live. The first time was on a bend of the Turkey River in northeast Iowa. Private concert with Barbaro.
