I bought a heated hoodie and I love it. To solve the battery problem I bought a $30 FLAT lithium battery that’s 12V 6 ah and it’s incredible. Battery hooks right up to the plug. Not worth getting one of Milwaukees $80 batteries lol
I have the newer Hexon ToughShell jacket. It's a very good quality shell and the front/back heat is actually quite good. The heating elements in the pockets are nearly useless as they barely get warm, even on high. Mine came with a 3AH M12 battery which gives good runtime even with the front/back zone on high. But it is quite bulky as he says in the video. There is also a new flat-style battery which is much more comfortable. It also has a Bluetooth module for controlling the heating zones and levels via an app on your phone, although I don't know why anyone would need that - the buttons on the front work just fine. For the price of the jacket, the flat battery should have been included.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. The flat battery is an extra $100 and I agree with the app function, it works but…why? My favorite thing with the app is that I can turn off the stupid light up logo. Man I hate that thing at night.
@@suburbanacreage Yes. My wife refused to walk with me with that light on because it looks so dorky. The cost of the battery was worth it just for that. Have to say though - the capacity of the flat battery is not as good as the regular 3AH M12. They claim 3 hr runtime on high but I don't even get 2 hours.
I’m testing the new battery pack right now in addition to the new for this year “Hexon” generation of heated gear from Milwaukee. I’ll have another video soon.
I have been using all three types and just got a second vest since the first one has seen some heavy industrial use. My typical use involves going in and out of heated buildings frequently and I hate being hot. So these garments allow me to wear less than I would need for these outdoor periods and still remain comfortable. I never intended to wear a tee shirt in winter and the expect the heated garment to take care of extended periods. Also, I like to wear layers so that I can wear more or less easily. The heated garments allow me to wear fewer layers and get by. Also, the batteries are not all the same capacity. I have M12 batteries that are rated 1, 1.5, 2, and 3.0 Ah. I switch them around as necessary and I don't ever expect one to last all day on cold winter days. The biggest problem that I have seen, occurs when I get distracted and forget to turn it off when I re-enter a heated area. That leads to a battery that gets discharged that must be switched out, which just requires that I keep a charger available....no big deal. Bottom line, I use mine multiple times a week and I'm not stopping. Things to bear in mind, these warm your mid to upper torso. Your waste down is not impacted at all.

I also bought that $200 jacket and the heated hoodie was very excited. Bought extra batteries and it didn’t perform. I could’ve swore it never ever got warm. I had to squeeze it against my body to see if it was even getting warm not good
Mine was literally torching my upper body in 20 degree weather. You have to use it as your mid layer, then put another jacket over whatever you’re using to trap the heat in. I was also wearing a harness because I do construction so it pushes the heating element against my body so that might’ve helped as well.

I had to go check the website again. Looks like since you purchased your jacket, they have updated the design again as it has more heating element in them now. Points out from the chest to the lower torso is covered and the upper back, and also the marketing "Hexagon" pattern for heat zones.
They dropped the new “Hexon” heated gear this fall and I was excited to try it out so of course I got a jacket. The new battery is flat which is nice, but doesn’t come with any of the clothing, it’s $100 extra. I’ll have a review video coming out soon, but I still wasn’t that impressed.
Not paid, not sponsored, no free sample from the company, and I definitely don’t have an online store where I sell the stuff. You won’t find many “reviews” on UA-cam that can make that claim.
I noticed all of the clothing you’re wearing is loose fitting and that’s the incorrect way to wear heated clothing. It’s supposed to be fitted basically snug to your body. It makes it huge difference. An example of that would be to wear whatever the item is you have now and lay down on your bed and you will feel how hot your back will get or even just hold your hand over your chest and you will fill your chest heat up.
I don't like that they have type C to C and no plug. I'm new to Milwaukee and bought one only to discover I couldn't charge the battery. Returning it for just that stupidity. You can't include a $5 plug that fits the cord after spending 200 hundred bucks?

my wife just got me the tough whatever and it does have heating for the pockets and back. However I wonder if it's actually on when it's 12F outside. Seems to me that a heated liner for a Carhartt winter coat would've been better.
@suburbanacreage Montana, yeah it really doesn't work well not just as a heated jacket but as a cold weather jacket. My Miller welding coat is actually better. My heated gloves however are amazing and have been tested to sub zero.
I did but the new Hexon Axis jacket this year for testing and I think you’re right, it is actually better. What I didn’t like was that the cool new battery doesn’t come with any of the heated gear, it’s an EXTRA $100. I’ll have a new video soon going over the improvements so guys know what to expect.
Okay so I’m testing the Hexon jacket right now and I got the Axis jacket with the flat battery pack. They do heat up faster, they do seem to get a little hotter, I think I’d still focus on heating base layers like a vest or hoodie versus an exterior jacket. I did buy the extra battery that is a better shape but doesn’t come with ANY of the heated gear stuff, it’s always an extra purchase and it costs $100. With the flat battery pack you do get app capability and that allows you to control different heat zones independently. It works but I’m always full power because I still don’t think they get that hot to the point I have to turn it down. My main complaint is still cost. My jacket and battery pack came out to $360 and that’s a lot for a jacket. If you really like Milwaukee, these can be a cool thing to have and you can use the battery it comes with for all your m12 tools when it isn’t winter. If you can find a deal on the stuff, even better.
It’s just the different heat zones that can be controlled independently so you can run just the back or just the front or any combination of the two. Each zone has 3 settings, low, medium, and high and they are displayed by the number of bars lit up.
@@suburbanacreage When using the buttons on the front, there are only two zones (front/back and pockets). From the wearers perspective, the right button controls the heating elements on the front and back. The left button controls the elements in the pockets. Each has 3 different heat settings (low, med, high). If you buy the optional Heated Gear Power Source, it allows you to separate the front and back into separate zones via an app on your phone. This battery is also flat so less bulky and more comfortable .
I'm Glad im not the only one who feels this way. Just got mine last month as a gift and I could not tell it was even on. I try having it just as itself and with layers. As a bigger guy there is only so much more I can ware to keep myself warm before I start looking like a south park character. The battery also has been a issue for me as well.
Thanks for you brutally honest review. I have 3 AXIS jackets, the oldest from 2018. They all Still work. The warmest Jacket system I’ve ever experienced is the Axis Gridiron…it was always real pricey but just before this new system showed up I snagged it on clearance. Glad I did. Feels like the Bahamas in -40 Too bad the Red White and Blue stuff got phased out. Maybe we could get Milwaukee to get back on board and “Make Heated Gear Great Again” 🇺🇸 One redeeming feature the new jackets have are the “app controlled” new slim batteries that came out this year. Surprised you didn’t cover that. But what good could those be if the jackets don’t get hot enough.
Thanks for your honest opinion on these jackets. I bought a hoodie to use layered with an outer shell during winter hunting and fishing. I also have 2 carhart jackets which I don’t think are that warm, but rugged. I hope the Milwaukee will be a good layer with them and my hunting gear. I bought this because I already own plenty of M12 tools ( which work great for home use, imo) and M12 batteries.
I have three of their hoodies over three generations. The first one I got was about $100 Cdn with battery and charger. Now their hoodie is going for $162 without a battery. It's too expensive now. I've worn these for years now and don't find the battery a problem. In fact I barely notice it. At first I was conscious of it but now it just disappears even when driving. The thing I've learning over the years with the heating of the hoodie is, depending how cold it is outside, it's best to wear at least a windbreaker over top. I know a lot of us wear a hoodie as the top layer but on those really cold mornings a windbreaker type coat will trap the heat in and will really warm you up. I wear bib-overalls in the winter over the hoodie most days I find this is enough to keep the heat in. If it really is cold then I'll wear a jacket. Milwaukee makes some really good tools but some of their stuff is garbage. I only have experience with their heated gear so I can't compare with other brands of heated clothing and have no doubt it's way better. On a side note, I've got a 5200 mAh battery coming in that I'll be using for my hoodie. From what I've read it's smaller than the M12 batteries and most importantly the runtime is doubled.
Not a Milwaukee fanboy or anything. I excuse the bulky battery because it can be used in my tools as well. I’m hot blooded so a little heat goes a long way. If there was a lot of zones I would be dying in there. I only really need it in the bitter cold morning.
I got my jacket as something to use UNDER my carhart jacket during the winter months of -40. It works GREAT. Keeping in the warmth is how I think it should be used, because wearing it as a stand-alone… where is all the heat going(?). I had to stop watching once I had seen him using an electric snow blower. (Speaking as an Alaskan).
I’m clearing snow off a deck, you haul up the two stage gasser and let the skids mess up your deck boards? You aren’t the first to be triggered by the battery powered electric tools! Haha too funny.
Stop wearing layers under the coils. I work outside in all temps doing gas main. Tshirt, heated hoodie, extreme weather carhart, and thermal lined pants. Im good in a snow storm and comfortably for 10+ hour shift.
My wife just bought that one from costco today for me as I work on hvac rooftop units in Minnesota winter. Pretty lightweight material but seems decent quality. Will test tomorrow under layers.
The original version was the best, it was a thick hoodie, and it got so damn hot you’d sweat. After a few years it dies so I bought a new one, and that one SUCKS ASS
Finally a critical review.... I have the 2021 version- the one that had the pass through and the final one with the colors- I think that was the very best jacket they made. Comfortable interior lining and heated zones that worked. Its gotten too expensive though
Yeah. I wish I didn't buy the heated jacket. I can't even tell it's on during cold days which is why I bought it. I have a vest from Amazon that I think I paid 40 for a couple of years ago. And it takes the flat battery packs for phones and lasts for hrs. And the number one thing is YOU CAN FEEL THE HEAT EVEN DURING VERY COLD DAYS! The milwaukee heated jacket is junk!
I guess i have first gen...i was going to say that it doesnt feel that hot, but it actually works great because i wore just the heated hoodie and didnt think it was doing much until o went inside and realized how cold it actually was outside as my ears warmed up...im ok with rhe battery and used a tractor with the battery in place, i think my battery only goes in the kidney spot. The only complaint i had was the jacket is too stiff. But i love the hoodie...mine are a few years old and pretty sure they still work, although i moved to a place that doesn't really have winter now.
I got first gen second and hexon Only thing faild on me was the hoodie and im sure that was due to user error i would weld with it and probably melted a cable
yep, I agree. The hoodie is just bad. It has a temp that is just above body temp when set on high after 10 minutes as seen on my FLIR camera, barely over 99 F on a manikin in a 75 F room.
You are correct and I’m currently testing the new Hexon stuff. What I can say so far is that the flat battery doesn’t come with any of the clothing, it’s ONLY a separate purchase for $100. So my Axis jacket and flat battery pack came in at $360. So pricing is still steep but I’ll have another video coming out when I get some good usage in. Unlike other channels, I paid for my own stuff, I’m not sponsored by Milwaukee (clearly haha), and I don’t sell the clothing. I’m just a guy paying retail pricing and telling other people what I think. Most other “reviews” are just ads with financial incentive behind them.
Its crazy you got all the Milwaukee jackets but didnt get the flat Milwaukee power bank made for the jackets that you were complaining they didn’t have but clearly have them on their website
The flat power source is new this year and while it may have solved one of my complaints, at an additional $100 extra it has intensified my pricing complaint. It doesn’t come WITH any of the heated gear, it is ONLY sold by itself for $100. So this year I bought a Milwaukee Axis jacket with the new Hexon technology for 2024, that cost $260, and then I bought the flat power source with app functionality for an extra $100 so I’m $360 out the door. You can buy a lot of nice jackets for $360 which is my overall complaint in the video. They’re cool and nice to have but the value just isn’t there for me.
Wulcea. Amazon. Really nice jacket. More heat zones. Cheaper. If you can find a dc adapter you could probably use Milwaukee batteries if you wanted. Highest setting you feel it indoors. Outside. Not really. Pockets make good hand warmers however.
I love Milwaukee. Gotta lot of their stuff and i only buy their stuff. I work outside year round and i was kinda hoping this year i could shed a couple layers by buying into the heated hoodie and wearing it under my jacket. I decided to pull thebtrigger and i bought the hoodie today ...11-29-24. And an extra battery. I returned it the same day ! Its garbage. The heat zones in front are absolutely ridiculously tiny ! It had the pass through pocket and the battery honestly didnt bother me. Ivfelt like i got scammed tho.... i couldnt tell it was on either. Milwaukee dropped the ball on the heated gear. Dont waste your money on it
I make these videos as a friendly PSA to let my blue collar bros know, “hey guys, this stuff ain’t worth it!”. I get a lot of hate and I’m honestly glad they work out for some people but I see a lot of comments like yours that agree with me too. I think it’s just a highly variable thing. Hopefully you got your money back.
No, I’m testing that jacket WITH the slim battery right now and I’ll have another video coming out soon. So far, my Hexon Axis jacket plus the additional flat pack battery came in at $360. So far my complaint about pricing holds true. None of the jackets come WITH the slim battery, you MUST buy it extra for $100. C’mon Milwaukee!
My Milwaukee heated hoodie is a piece of junk. So is their warranty coverage. Mine died after the first wash. I've attempted two separate warranty claims they just sit there forever. Milwaukee, you can go to hell. Huge waste of money!
The biggest problem buddy is your videos really late on coming out Milwaukee's already solved the problem with the battery with their new battery which is a power bank Style with a app to control it and gave you heated pockets and the new jacket gets a lot harder so why would you do a review video on the old jacket that is now being obsolete
You mean they “solved” one of my complaints by offering a flat battery for only an additional $100? Gee, thanks Milwaukee! And now you get an app for your jacket, just what we all need, an app for a freaking jacket! But you’re right they revamped the heated gear lineup with newer revisions dubbed “Hexon” so of course I went out and bought one to see how great it actually is. My Hexon Axis jacket was $260 and of course I had to try the new battery pack which doesn’t come with any of the heated gear products, it’s ONLY available as a stand alone add on for $100. So I’m $360 into my brand new Hexon technology jacket and my complaints are all the same. I’ll have a specific video with further details after some more testing but my comments still stand, I still don’t recommend it, and the older stuff is still for sale as proven by my links so the video stays up.
Ryobi isn’t even that bad, it’s just way too trendy to dump on them. I think guys tend to be elitist d bags about their preferred tool brands but I guess it’s like anything.
It's supposed to be close against the body with a coat over it. Read directions. It's the same directions with my Ororo Heated Jacket. The same. URaDummy
Electrician by trade here. Over 30 years in the field and I'm a Milwaukee fan boy. I've got it all. Including the heated gear. And you are exactly right. Just not that good. What I found works is the Heated Hoodie covered by a regular Carhartt or Ariat vest to keep those coils next to your body. So in the Minnesota winters, I wear a long sleeve Carhartt shirt, the Milwaukee heated hoodie, and then an Ariat vest over that. That'll get me thru most of the winter. When the wind chill hits -40 below, I'll but on a big Carhartt coat overtop of it all. It works for me. Thanks for the video.
You constantly saying Fanboys and degrading everybody's opinion is where you lost me. The only tools I own in Milwaukee r a heated hoodie and I love it I have two batteries that's more than enough for a day the DeWalt one are awful and I have tons of DeWalt tools. If you think the jack is not that good it's probably because you got six layers on underneath of it😅 where the hoodie and then put a jacket on top of it
Ive never been that big into Milwalkee, in fact the Jacket is the only Milwalkee product I own, but seriously....you totally discredit yourself when you go all whiney about "Fanboys." Just give your review and move on. Myself...I don't care much for the battery size but it is bearable. The highest setting makes me sweat so I have no idea what the "it doesnt get that hot" is about. Perhaps you have horrible circulation? As far as heating zones, the jacket comes in different configerations so you can get the heat zones that you want. as far as cost....yea...tad pricey but the jacket was NOT 300. I paid 249, full price and that was the jacet with the most heat zones. I just saw them in store a couple days ago and the same jacket was now 199. I dont know that Ive ever seen a comparable jacket for much less....perhaps an off brand amazon but no thank you.

Can you explain how the physical buttons on the jacket work? What is the difference between the left side buttons and the right side buttons?
Nice review, honest…a man can appreciate that …cheers
Thanks for you brutally honest review. I have 3 AXIS jackets, the oldest from 2018. They all Still work. The warmest Jacket system I’ve ever experienced is the Axis Gridiron…it was always real pricey but just before this new system showed up I snagged it on clearance. Glad I did. Feels like the Bahamas in -40
Too bad the Red White and Blue stuff got phased out. Maybe we could get Milwaukee to get back on board and “Make Heated Gear Great Again” 🇺🇸
One redeeming feature the new jackets have are the “app controlled” new slim batteries that came out this year. Surprised you didn’t cover that. But what good could those be if the jackets don’t get hot enough.
I don’t know I have one and I’m in Saskatchewan. It seems to keep me warm. The battery doesn’t last me that long. So I need more than one for a day.
I’m a iron worker in northeast ohio and I have 2 of these jackets and have 0 problems I’d buy again
It barely gets cold in Ohio lol
I have a couple Milwaukee tools to work on 3/4" lug nuts but I never bought it's clothing cause I knew the clothing line would be a gimmick.
You have the 1st Gen wit M12 and 3 bars. The 2nd is better but RC batteries last over 6 hours
Axis is just a hoodie with "ripstop" If you want an actual jacket, get a toughshell. Also, it looks loose on you.
@@suburbanacreage 🤣 Probably the worst reply you could’ve come up with.
Love your review, makes my decision a lot easier
Appreciate this review, you saved me 175 bucks, keep up the good work
Yeah. Just bought one a week ago. Got a free battery with it, keeps me warm for 8 hours a day. Don't listen to this fella. Just wants to complain
Stop wearing layers under the coils. I work outside in all temps doing gas main. Tshirt, heated hoodie, extreme weather carhart, and thermal lined pants. Im good in a snow storm and comfortably for 10+ hour shift.
Hey Costco has a heated vest on sale, any thoughts ? Review ??? Better than Milwaukee?
I have found the cheaper stuff to be just as good and often times better than the Milwaukee stuff so I’d go for it.
Reality review is better than fanboy comments.thanks for this vid im not buying it anymore.im looking for a good heated vest as electrician
Why don’t they heat the pockets anymore?
Pretty sure they have even a newer version. They also have a new battery pack as well.
Im just imagining trying to get past TSA with 3 layers of m12 heated gear on 😂 not a good look
its true the first gen to the new gen is very very different
You're wearing the Milwaukee heated gear in the wrong environment! When I was in Phoenix this summer, I had the vest on (high) and I was never cold!
Hahaha, very true. The warmer the weather, the better they work!
Is this the newest model they have with the hexon tech? Cuz u can get a slimmer battery
I agree. I have a hooded sweater and a jacket. Both suck.
Milwaukee now has a flat battery for this line.
The snow blower tells me all I need to know
We're gate keeping snow blowing now? Kind of weird man.
Works great for me keep me perfect temp
My Milwaukee heated hoodie is a piece of junk. So is their warranty coverage. Mine died after the first wash. I've attempted two separate warranty claims they just sit there forever. Milwaukee, you can go to hell. Huge waste of money!
I’m afraid to wash mine for that exact reason, just seems wrong and like it’ll never work again.
spending more money on milwaukee brand jacket, to use the lumpy batteries you already have... rather than buying a better jacket to begin with
The biggest problem buddy is your videos really late on coming out Milwaukee's already solved the problem with the battery with their new battery which is a power bank Style with a app to control it and gave you heated pockets and the new jacket gets a lot harder so why would you do a review video on the old jacket that is now being obsolete
I appreciate this review
When the Milwaukee management puts products like this electric on the retail market, all their other decisions need great skepticism.
The sweatshirt was temu quality. I could see through it when you hold it up to the light. Garbage for $150. What a joke.
I wonder if they have a different supplier now. My hoodie is pretty good but it’s from last year.
Someone ripping on a tool company that's not lime green? So refreshing!!!
Ryobi isn’t even that bad, it’s just way too trendy to dump on them. I think guys tend to be elitist d bags about their preferred tool brands but I guess it’s like anything.
@@suburbanacreage 100% I believe that if thats what you can afford, get it!
Thank you I had the 1st generation one that had the three colors and it was awesome I though the new one would be better stupid china purchases
I dont know that Ive ever seen a comparable jacket for much less....perhaps an off brand amazon but no thank you.
he told me not to buy it so im gonna buy it lol jk
Milwaukee is not a bad brand my dad has so much tolls he has a bad about it he has a beanie on we are going to work I have a Milwaukee shirt on and I'm going to Milwaukee beanie on so Milwaukee does not suck I'm a Red army
Milwaukee is not that bad it's better than tequila and whatever that other stuff is called that sucks just wear it in your pocket
But I still love your videos 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Just get a M18 battery 🔋
