You Can't Hide from the Face Tracking Nerf with AI

- In this video I build a predator style shoulder mounted nerf blaster that uses artificial intelligence to track a face, person or other object in the TFlite model. It uses a pan tilt mechanism and wireless relay as well. The electronics are based on a raspberry pi with a Coral USB Edge TPU accelerator.
Dude, AWESOME!! How does this video only have 450 views??
Thats absolutly amazing. Now i have to find out the components and where i can find the software to build my Sentry Gun from Aliens. Great Job Sir!
Hah...that sounds great. This is the brilliant tutorial I followed.

Obviously success was intermittent and I dont know how to program well enough to fix it...but it got me far enough to have fun.
Just a nerdy point, this is more sophisticated than the UA571-C sentry gun. The UA571-C is only a motion detection system.
This whole video is not only super informative, but comedic gold
You really deserve more attention on this platform. Amazing content! Subscribed
Thanks for the kinds words... hopefully well get to the big views soon
My 9 yr old son showed me this video. Just awesome. I am still wonderin why ur videos are not getting noticed... Keep up the good work sir.. ur videos are going to take over the net soon.. all the very best..
Thank you for the kind words! Well get there eventually
It kinda has trailing/ "catch up" track.
If it had predictive "leading" track, that would be poggers and much faster at acquisitions and reacquisition
Just saw this on a reddit chat. Awesome blaster and very cool tech !
Thanks for the kind words! I'm hoping to get some even better robotic nerf builds in the near future
This is like a grown up version of Michael Reeves.
I'm thinking that if this were set to track and fire at "hot dogs" it detects in a room that it has ascertained your teenage daughter is in. It may be too taxing to identify every teenage boy she knows and have it fire at any"hot dog" speed approximately 1 meter below said face (or horizontal to etc). Just thinking outside the box for remote mounted sentries etc. You could probably get away with just the deterrent presented by pointing a 3 beam laser at the object. Lmao
Well done!
A more suitable blaster would be a old speedswarm/powerbelle as it only has one electronic trigger that fires the blaster in auto, which means no servo(?) to actuate the semi auto trigger. It actually has been a blaster that people in the nerf community has made both shoulder mounted cannons and trap blasters out of. I'd recommend checking the channel Captain Xavier here on UA-cam.
This should have millions of views. Subscribed.
that's so sick
wow really cool
11:02 how did you get the teacheble machine datas ?
Is that the spot where you freestyled the DRL racer 4 heavy boi?
Sick
7:20k gee you never see this, a man annoying his wife and she patiently smiles while putting up with this
Awesome!
Saw this on that famous cat website, subbed immediately.
Whats the cat website? Thanks for the sub!
@@EngineeringAfterHours Reddit (they love cats I hear)
@@brendendas please do not the cat
You would need a much stronger pan tilt but I'd love to see some you mount a Nerf Rival Prometheus mxviii-20k.
Hah...I want to do something like that on a custom built RC skid steering vehicle like a mini Sherp.
lol I used the same heat transfer book back in college. it's a thick boi. also you can try jetson nano so you don't need the corral
Thanks for the tip. Also...I almost failed thermo 1 but somehow aced that heat transfer class. It was one of my favorite.
you should pm Captain Xavier hes a nerfer who made a simpler sythem that dos this
Currently work on a 3D printed project that I will need object tracking. Have you done anymore research into this tech. I have been looking at the Huskylens for my project. But will also look at the system you used. Any info would help.
Nope...I have the husky lens sitting unopened on my shelf because I wanted a round 2 but haven't gotten to it yet.
I can program in several languages, including Python and some C++, and I'm familiar with Arduino and Raspberry Pi; I've just always been too poor to afford most of the stuff. So, if you ever want to team up, let me know where to get at you.
Sounds good I'll keep this in mind!
thats awesome, too bad its a nerf ultra blaster so a lot of stuff simply outranges it
damn this is nice we can use this to make TURRETS HEHEHEH be usefull for HVZ
also you should get the conversion kit for the ultra 2
Whats the conversion kit?!
@@EngineeringAfterHours it makes it shoot elite darts instead of ultra darts which can allow it to have a larger capacity depending on which one you get they are on etsy and are not too expensive
@@SivaExperiment cool. Thanks for the heads up!
What is the trigger system
Will you make a tutorial at some point?
This is the tutorial I followed for the project. towardsdatascience.com/real-time-object-tracking-with-tensorflow-raspberry-pi-and-pan-tilt-hat-2aeaef47e134
Reddit sent me here. 👍🏽
Is there a way to make it track a targeting laser? That would be awesome.
So basically this with a laser?

How do you convert the face xy to pan/tilt?
The software knows the centroid of the bounding box for the face and the center of the frame. It then sends commands from there to the servos.
@@EngineeringAfterHours ya, I get that. How do you convert it from the xy coordinates to turning the servo?
Here's the tutorial that I mention in the video...should explain it all. It's using a PID loop and simple servo commands to center it up.
