It's one of the best human vs. Yaujta fights in the series. And "Spoiler Alert" it ends in the classic samurai movie trope of Hanzo gets the win but dies immediately due to wounds sustained during the fight basically while yes Hanzo does score that fatal strike with his katana on the Falconer Predator's throat to kill it he ends up dying seconds after his victory cry due to the massive blood loss he suffered due to receiving massive lacerations on his stomach and torso via the Falconer Predator's wrist blades.

Can I just say, I love this concept. Abduct a bunch of combat experienced people, drop them in a jungle environment with guns all over place (ala battle royal), and hunt them down like a pack of wolves. The people given their combat history they, will instinctively try to defend themselves. Not only will this make it a challenge for the Predators but it also means the humans won't trust each other so easily. This gives the Predators a slight advantage.
Aw, you skipped the scene where Hanzo explains his silence by holding up his hand, revealing missing fingers? "I talk too much." That's straight Yakuza shit.
It has always bothered me that Royce combines the fire and mud ideas for the finale. The fire essentially blinds the predator because everything he sees is now a heat signature and the mud hides humans because it hides their heat signature. Since he used both, wouldn't the predator now see a blue figure running a yellow background (since he's surrounded by fire) so just the inverse of normal? What difference would that make? Maybe I'm just missing something...
I think Royce was using the fire to blind the Berserker Pred while hiding in areas that weren't on fire. He hides in the growth between attacks, then strikes when Pred isn't looking.
Works better honestly, it's something the mythbusters largely got right with thermal sensor testing precisely to bust the movie trope. Increasing the background heat while at least temporarily masking some of his own would help make it harder to target him.

I'm just assuming that the planet they're on since it's a game reserve has stuff that is both edible and dangerous for humans, what sport is there if your prey is going to starve to death
There are some universal rules when it comes to life. If it has razor sharp teeth and eyes narrowed down at you, chances are it wants to eat you, for example.
Plants are plants so it's more of a study thing that you'd know it by similar traits. So it wasn't that dumb but i do hate the actor and wished he'd died way earlier then at the end. So dumb. It was an uncharacteristic choice for a movie of warriors that enjoy hunting tuff bastards. So it was my only gripe with the film. Other then that it was way better then the others with the exception of the first since that film is still the best but this damn almost came close to topping it. But damn you grace for dragging it down.
It’s a extinct plant , the predators are all for “challenge “ stocking their game planet with stuff that could kill them aswell as their prey , but also providing other edible plants , giving their prey a glimpse into their life style , the beast inside
I actually really liked this movie. 1. Adds to the Yautja lore by introducing a planetary game reserve they drop their prey into. 2. The Predator v Yakuza sword fight, one of the most badass ways to go out in any Predator film. 3. Solid action sequences throughout. 4. A Predator v Predator fist fight. 5. I thought the twist with Edwin as a serial killer was a good one, and explains why someone as unassuming as him wound up in the preserve.
@@lxdead5585 Prey is a woke movie. I'm not just saying that because "muh women", I'm saying it because in all the press releases they've been using the identity politics of the main character being female to try and sell the film, instead of just letting it stand on it's own merits. It'll probably still be fun though, whose to say.
According to Nimród Antal and Robert Rodriguez on the commentary, in the script, the character Cuchillo was described as "a guy who looks like Danny Trejo." When Danny Trejo heard this, he called Robert Rodriguez and said, "hey, I heard there's a guy in the script for 'Predators' who looks just like Danny Trejo, and guess what, I look just like Danny Trejo!"
Dude, I’m surprised that only 1 guy died due to parachute malfunction, especially if they woke up to falling, cause if I was there I would be hella in shock and just be fslling
11:55 generally the Predators due tend to have a good understanding of human language, and are a honor-bound group, so it is way more likely to help him then one would think.
9:52 forced? it makes sense by predators standards. they live to hunt the deadliest game. to them all the pray trapped in a room that is fulling with smoke, dying. that is no fun or even a worthy hunt for them, they rather have them get out and hunt them themselves. at least that is how I see it.
shadowwriter329 ...according to the lore they’re bad bloods, almost all super predators are. So honor don’t mean crap to them...but still your argument has a point
I think it's less honor for the bad bloods and more it wouldn't be fun, so while normal predators give their prey a chance because they want their kills to be honorable, the bad bloods give prey a chance so they can have fun killing them

The 1st Predator was a masterpiece. They trolled us into thinking it was an action movie before shifting into a Sci-Fi movie. The 2nd movie did the same and tricked us into thinking it was a cop thriller before becoming a sci fi movie. It became a cult classic, but it's a great movie
just a theory but i think the characters in predators got killed by the order of who hollywood (or U.S. government take you'r pick) see as the greatest evil 1st the narco cartel dude Danny 2nd the Death squad member 3rd Spetsnaz Nikolai 4th convicted criminal Stan that got his spine and skull ripped out 5th the yakuza 6th the psycho doctor and of course the mercenary and the black ops sniper working for the good ol' u.s. of a survive (i just mentioned people from the starting group)
Holy fuck . . . STOP, STOP THAT SHIT RIGHT NOW HOW DARE YOU 😭 I was literally thinking when i clicked on this "Bruh i loved this movie as a kid" now I dont know what to feel cause it's a mix of nostalgia, lowkey hate, and fear 😂
I honestly love the twist with the weenie doctor. He's the mirror of the convict. Convict: antisocial, aggressive, limited empathy, understands the situation and world around him in all its bloody glory Doctor: charming, manipulative, complete lack of empathy, delusions of grandeur (which, honestly, could have been foreshadowed earlier) I also like how the lady sniper isn't the only one whose "fatal flaw" is empathy in a pack of human predators. The Russian dying to save Weenie is a nice bit of foreshadowing I particularly clicked with in a recent viewing. Though, I should have picked up on the "family man" trope before. Got kids? In a horror (ish) movie? Dead meat. Yes, I forgot most of their names. Except Cuchillo, cuz I found it a funny callback to Trejo's "defining" role. Cuchillo means knife.
"Also, Nikolai's minigun got taken out in the process. Hopefully he still has a sandwich on him." *Translation* "Also Misha's Sasha ran out of bullets in the process. Hopefully he still has a sandvich on him." (or an ammo pack nearby)

4:05 You'd be right in your assumption. The planet to the left is a gas giant, it actually looks like a carbon copy of Jupiter. i would assume that all of these bodies orbit the giant seeing how most gas giants tend to have higher gravitational pull than rocky and icy bodies do due to the potential of a dense metallic core. The chunks surrounding it might actually be a moon which may have strayed into it's Roche limit and broke apart which will eventually form a planetary ring. Plus, the chunks surrounding that gas giant are WAY too big to be asteroids, that *had* to have been a moon. The body they are on is so close to what appears to be *another* moon that they themselves are WELL within the Roche limit of, and depending on it's mass, should be completely shredding it to pieces. As for the other planets in the background, they look about the right distance for the planet the characters are on to orbit. Though, i cant quite tell if the planets in question are breaking up, or if that's a cloud partially obscuring it.
I guess that's as far as our human imaginations can get. Predators=Protoss=Elites Xenomorphs=Zergs=The Flood(kinda...) Were there any other major franchises that didn't use this mold?
@@professorutonium5095 that just makes me laugh automatically, imagining some guy getting punched by a thug and then yelling MEEEEDIIIIC like what is the thug supposed to do at that point, taunt?
I normally agree with you James but no that twist was actually really well done and fits the psychosis of a serial killer believing he's "more than human". Its also further expanded upon behind the scenes that Topher's character is a delusional killer with a superiority complex who was under the impression that he was brought onto the preserve to hunt WITH the predators. Believing because he's a killer he fits in with them a lot more than he fits with normal humans
To be honest, looking back, it's actually foreshadowed well in a couple scenes. When he leaves Nikolai for dead, he doesn't seem all that fearful or remorseful, he just runs on out like a job well done. I always thought that weird, but never really made the connection. Then, when he tries to claim the kids on the picture are his, that also kind of tells of his whole personality, taking bits and pieces to use later. While his monologue is a bit silly, he is actually kind of interesting in a way. Sort of like a darker version of Machiko from the books, except not successful at actually joining the hunters.
@jerry_jeremiah yep if you get the DVD and look under special features, they have a behind the scenes mini documentary about how they made the movie and where they filmed. It was filmed in a mix of the Jungles in Hawaii and Forests+Hill Country of Texas. The majority, which was around 60%, was filmed in Texas Hill Country, mostly Austin-based locations. The cliff scene of them rolling down the cliff into the water was filmed in Hamilton Springs (Dripping Springs), Texas.
T.R. Luxx13 I did and they said it was filmed in hawaii. Some people from the movie have a Reddit where you can ask them questions and someone asked where the waterfall scene was at and one said at Hawaii.
This was actually a really fun movie I watched with my family. It's just one of those series my dad loved. Plus my family just loved theorizing throughout, mostly just my mom who loves to contradict my own theories.
10:33 can we talk about how ABSOLUTELY POWERFUL you need to be to pull that off. The OG used his blade gauntlet to tear the corpses open (we saw it happen to Billy in the first) meanwhile Berserker just bear-hands Stan's spine. I also want to add that the iconic spine rip move is physically impossible bc of the vertebral structure
I kinda wish Nolan was replaced with Arnold and that everyone there had survived past predators and they were taken to see who was the strongest I think that would’ve been cool
At approximately 9:45 the tracker predator lets them out to continue the hunt. It would be too easy to kill them all in the room. They brought them there to hunt them, not just to kill them.
The characters might not have been that well developed and the one liners may have fallen flat, but the people who made this movie clearly loved the original and wanted that to shine through and that's good enough for me tbh.
It's also believed the 3 preds in this movie have been banished from their home world (most likely from killing another predator) and are confined to this planet (besides being allowed to search for prey for hunts) and the predator that was hung up was most likely sent to eliminate them but was captured, this is why the 3 main predators don't have morals (injured or incapable prey) and will hunt and kill without remorse.
So they're banished to this planet, but they have ships they can use to go get prey from Earth whenever they want? Why would they keep returning to this place? ..or is someone else sending them carefully selected, elite prey to hunt?
all predator can become bad blood but that clan is "Super predators" a SUB SPECIES of Yautja which consists of Falconer predator, Tracker Predator, and the berserker predator (which is the clan leader and the only member that doesn't care who he kills).. but if you're saying bad blood predator they are the predator that's been cast out in Yautja prime bcuz of Bad behavior and their clan leader will take all of their weapons and trophy
and that predator that's been crucified is a young blood predator a type of predator that has limited knowledge about fighting or hunting in short teenagers
If i remember correctly, those three predators or super predators specifically are highly suspected to be bad bloods. Bad bloods are the ones who break the honor and rules of the hunt and are banished or executed
Yep you're spot on
The Falcon predator was pretty honourable he could of taken "Hanzo" out straight away with a cheap shot but it chose to fight fair with swords
They hunted and killed other yautja. Regardless of what other rules they did or didnt break, that alone makes them bad bloods

if it looks like a carnivorous plant and has mucus dripping down from it then it's pretty safe to assume that it ain't safe to consume nor touch
This is definitely leagues better than that 2018 trainwreck. Here's to hoping Prey gets it better.

For the thrill of the hunt! Also Bad Bloods may have no honer but fun is fun
I think it's less honor for the bad bloods and more it wouldn't be fun, so while normal predators give their prey a chance because they want their kills to be honorable, the bad bloods give prey a chance so they can have fun killing them

I honestly love the twist with the weenie doctor. He's the mirror of the convict.
Convict: antisocial, aggressive, limited empathy, understands the situation and world around him in all its bloody glory
Doctor: charming, manipulative, complete lack of empathy, delusions of grandeur (which, honestly, could have been foreshadowed earlier)
I also like how the lady sniper isn't the only one whose "fatal flaw" is empathy in a pack of human predators. The Russian dying to save Weenie is a nice bit of foreshadowing I particularly clicked with in a recent viewing. Though, I should have picked up on the "family man" trope before. Got kids? In a horror (ish) movie? Dead meat.

I heard there was executive meddling from Fox, making the Disney buyout rather karmic.
Long story short from HP McDoogle, big planets in a close space equals mtg's crucible of worlds.

I love how a portion of this movie was actually shot in Texas because they found plants and forests that looked like they weren't from earth...
T.R. Luxx13 wrong the waterfall is filmed at Hawaii
T.R. Luxx13 I did and they said it was filmed in hawaii. Some people from the movie have a Reddit where you can ask them questions and someone asked where the waterfall scene was at and one said at Hawaii.

They could be bad bloods, or they can just be from separate clans.
So they're banished to this planet, but they have ships they can use to go get prey from Earth whenever they want? Why would they keep returning to this place? ..or is someone else sending them carefully selected, elite prey to hunt?
i think so...
all predator can become bad blood but that clan is "Super predators" a SUB SPECIES of Yautja which consists of Falconer predator, Tracker Predator, and the berserker predator (which is the clan leader and the only member that doesn't care who he kills).. but if you're saying bad blood predator they are the predator that's been cast out in Yautja prime bcuz of Bad behavior and their clan leader will take all of their weapons and trophy
and that predator that's been crucified is a young blood predator a type of predator that has limited knowledge about fighting or hunting in short teenagers
16:28 Who knew “treat the series with love” would turn out to be “make a derivative version of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and cast an ACTUAL predator” 😂😂😂
