Im sure other people have said this, but the combat is basically the press turn system that was used in SMT since smt3 in 2003. Ive always liked this system in smt3 and smt5 more than the one more system in persona, which was a deviation from smts system. This game delivers for me because I just wanted the combat of an SMT in a more story driven game like persona, so this game delivered for me heavily.
Yeah I'm learning from a lot of people that, this is more in line with SMT as well, I just haven't played any myself cause they didn't seem as appealing to me. Seems tons of people wanted just that, a mix of SMT and Persona and this might be the best thing ever for them
i’m a guy who loves long games. Every single player open world game you can imagine, i’ve played them and put at least 100 hours into. Dude I was literally saying to myself when the fuck is this demo going to be over. I was sure it was over at least 5 times and it just kept going. I’m 10 hours deep into a demo. i’m at the stage where I can spend my days however I want.
I love open world and super long RPG's, but as we get older it's more just a matter of finding the time for them all, which I can't in between all the little other games I wanna play haha glad to hear you enjoying the demo so much, enjoy the full release!
Yeah I used to love longer games when I was younger, but I really just don't have time for them anymore. But this game is so fucking good that I will make time. Downloaded the demo on whim a couple days back after seeing it mentioned in a 4chan thread, and basically spent the last two days straight playing.
This game seems really interesting I’ll definitely try it (once I finally get around to playing Persona 3 Reload) It shocks me that you only have 87 subscribers with the quality of your videos. Keep it up and you’ll definitely start blowing up
I can't wait to *eventually* dive into 3 Reload, but tbh I was holding off till it's cheaper and all the DLC was out, Aegis thing etc so I know I have a complete package when I do play. That is, really more heart-warming than you think
Nearly doubled in subs now, thanks again, it's people like you leaving nice positive feedback and interacting with the video that's pushed it out so much, really appreciate the kindness.
@@MyLivingLegacy Thats amazing. Im fully rooting for your channel growth More chill and casual content like yours is always amazing and underrepresented
Long time persona fan and I love the fantasy setting. The animations when you form a new bond or enter More's room are absolutely genius. Might become my favorite game of all time.
@@Milendk god I didn’t even get a chance to touch on More and his Velvet like room at all, altho I didn’t want to spoil too much. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about him but he grew on me quickly, and I love his little Library setting as well
Wow ok, this is really blowing up for me. Struggling to keep up with the comments, thanks everyone, I hope it was ok to listen to 😅 I don’t always do topical videos at all but glad that if I do, people might watch. Next few videos are so random in comparison 😂
I have a very strong feeling this game will at some point open up into something completely different. It gives me the impression that perhaps the dark color palette is chosen deliberately, in order to contrast with something else down the line. Given the amount of crazy implications hinted at via early plot points, I think that stance is at least somewhat appropriate. :P
Ooooh I kinda dig this theory?? Maybe something akin to different world or place. The start of the game has that odd narrator saying you’re from a different world, and while I think it almost explained it in Mores room or something else as it’s the book MC carries around, I like the idea that 30-40hrs in the game flips you over and something drastic changes. Love it!
@@MyLivingLegacy Thinking about it is making my head spin to be honest. Big baddies are called humans, Elda (our MC, most discriminated against race) are pretty much real humans. Then there is the question the narrator asks at the beginning about whether fantasy can affect reality, and the words fantasy has ended when you die (also pretty sure the narrator and librarian are the same person). Then you've got the fact that MC has a book which to him is a fantasy but describes our reality. Also seems we'll have a role as a player too (perhaps a being from their fantasy book reality) Crazy shit man
@@jordanbates4621 There better be some wild twists and turns by the end, cause for people that did pay attention like you, it's setting something up, no way it can't be The whole human thing really threw me through a loop for a bit, I was like wait ... wdym??? humans??
If you watch the "epilogue" of the demo you get to see some other areas that seem to contrast with the dreary areas we had at the start. Although I agree with you, I wouldn't be surprised if we get to come over to the "real" world at some point.
@@azzam-ji9fh ah thanks so much for watching! I won’t be getting it quite day 1 sadly, as I just don’t have the time and means atm for another 60-100hr RPG amongst my current games schedule but I’ll be grabbing it when I can for sure! Before the demo I wasn’t 100% interested but this definitely sold me on trying it asap when I can.
I like that they replaced “One More” with using half a turn instead. Allows for much more strategic gameplay, instead of steamrolling 99% of encounters by abusing weaknesses.
@@DietersYT I definitely do think this is probably better and also more balanced too. More turns but doesn’t necessarily mean auto win by spamming wind attacks on a full mob weak to wind till they die
@@rafaelluciano5596 I’m not familiar with SMT combat To my knowledge, Studio Zero is composed of people who primarily worked on Persona games. That’s why I said “replaced”.
@@DietersYT Studio Zero comprises import devs from Team Maniax (the SMT game dev team) and P-Studio (persona game devs). This is why so many features in Metaphor are fusions of features from these other games, the combat "press turn" system being taken directly from SMT with a couple interesting things added (eg: synthesis moves that take two points from your action point economy)
Haven’t finished the demo yet, but I loved it so far! My only gripe, that left me feel a bit pooped, was that they killed Grius. I wanted him to be a permanent party member, really liked his design and voice actor.
I wasn't expecting it so soon, I had a feeling when I saw the game make a bond with his daughter, and the whole goodbye I'll be back soon and I went ahhh I've seen this crap before we're not coming back are we LOL I really dug Grius. He would have been a great companion to keep around as a mentor as well for a bit longer, altho in the caves when we unlock his power without a whole transformation scene that should have been a clue too :(
p3 - 5 are M rated and they still reached a wide audience. i'm interested to see how this one is going to tackle the same depth of themes while still maintaining the T rating
@@tyhjyys oh very interesting I didn’t even realise that, considering I think this is far more gritty and mature in nature (despite persona tackling dark themes, but it’s presented in bright colours lol) that’s a good point overall
Finally got around to finishing the demo myself, and I'm really glad the game turned out great. Been actually keeping an eye out for it since it was revealed and it really didn't disappoint to the point of I played nearly the whole demo twice...mostly because I had serious regret on focusing on magic after unlocking the Brawler so I completely reset and sped through everything I already did so I could change my stats around which turned out to be an amazing choice because punching the crap out of everything is an INCREDIBLY viable strategy in the small bit of the game we got to play, especially because I spent the 6k MAG on grabbing the 10% attack passive from Warrior, the skeletons stood 0 chance, it was great (plus the field attack is MILES better than the Mage's slow circle of pure endlag). I'm really excited for the full release since I'm always up for new turn based games, and this game's setting is basically that of a classic Final Fantasy with magic, airships, and more traditional enemies (even though Ironically it's not that far off from FFXVI tone wise in a lot of regards) and personally, I do like having a full fantasy setting over Persona's 50/50, really helps things feel more cohesive, and really works VERY well with the whole premise, which speaking of, the contest for the throne is what drew my interest in the game to begin with in the initial trailers, and the whole setup for it was great. I also really do like the art direction this time around too, It's far from my favorite style (I am quite the huge fan of colorful games compared to less saturated ones) but the game looks beautiful more often than not and all the effects regarding architypes is really great, from the glowing lines the characters have during combat to the big cutscene attacks (especially with the fact that the Brawler literally gets to use the final flash with the right situation, that's just amazing, and instantly got rid of any regret for restarting my save) The protagonist is a huge plus for me personally, on top of actually really liking his design, letting him actually having dialog is amazing since it lets him have more of a character in the game instead of it being mostly relegated to adaptations and goofy dialog choices. Also having him be less mechanically important is something I love as it's no longer 3 companions and a walking nuke most of the time (since persona's companions are strong, yes, but they were always behind the protagonist by a large margin outside of maybe P4G Naoto), plus it means no more unfortunately targeted 1 shot kills causing a complete reset since the protagonist can go down without ending the whole fight, and letting more characters take advantage of all archetypes is just all kinds of amazing since it's basically a Persona variant of the Job system, one of my favorite game mechanics from the older Final Fantasy games As for the other characters, Strohl really is a great new direction for the typical early party member best friend character compared to characters like Junpei, Yosuke and Ryuji (plus sharing a VA with Dion from FFXVI is a win and REALLY fits), I'm really looking forward to learning more about More, there's some really interesting things going on there, especially with the dialog when you select the heart in the archetype tree, and Gallica is certainly looking to turn out to be probably the best of the speaking mascots (even though I do like Teddy a lot more than most...mainly because I love puns compared to most who find them unbearable). Honestly there were only 3 downsides in the whole game for me. One of which was the UI, which can be a bit clunky and unclear in some menus and is a downgrade from persona (granted, Persona is one of the highest bars imaginable when it comes to UI design), the second being the biggest with the music. It really just doesn't click with me most times, and music is really important for me. so I do hope that later tracks are better, but bare minimum, it's ATLUS, they're already marketing P3/P4/P5 costume/BGM packs to change the battle music to Persona music for when the full game comes out. And the only other bad thing is it's release date, of all the days in the year, atlus chose to be right next to Sparking Zero lol. But I'm absolutely going to pick it up at some point...probably after I finish P3 reload...which I really do need to finish at some point...which is probably only going to happen a good bit after Sparking Zero
little Myth little Myth let me in Thanks so much for checking it out man, glad you have been having fun with it. Yeah I didn't get Brawler, I stopped at end of day 1, I didn't want to spoil more for myself, plus 6 hrs was enough for me lol Looks like we share a lot of the same thoughts, altho I do expect you'll be more positive on this game (like 16) compared to me overall by the end. I did not know Stohl was Dion's VA, that's awesome, maybe that's what I also liked him so much haha and yes I have a soft spot for Teddy, despite his goofiness, altho it's probably cause P4G was my first Persona. Music can make or break a game for me, just like art style, I hope there is some more banger tracks by the end, I doubt there won't be, but, it's gonna be so hard to top Persona OST's. Also yeah, criminal. Sparking Zero, Metaphor? Worst time possible lol Thanks for commenting Myth
Was already gonna snag this as I was confident in Atlus’s ability to make a good jrpg even a brand new IP, and rightfully so the demo secured my buy. I adore the SMT and persona series, art style is beautiful and the morose tonality of the game is what I live for. This game I believe will be a hit and so far as from what I’ve seen a potential classic in the JRPG space.
Based on this, I have no doubt this game will perform really well for both critics and fans alike. P5 really helped bring in games like this with social elements into the mainstream, so this with its very different tone and grittier more adult plot will be exactly what some are looking for.
@@MyLivingLegacy oh for sure Atlus is good at hitting the mark and bringing in a new array of players that like a specific entry, like you said P5 being a prime example. More ways for Atlus to perfect their gameplay loop and experiment with more story ideas and unique jrpg gameplay will keep themselves fresh and fun at all times. Hopefully Atlus keeps this trend of trying new things and testing the water with new iPS and ideas and not being complacent just pumping out persona after persona and one smt mixed in every 10 years.
@@shotojae6007 Yeah this could be a great spin off thing for the devs with bringing this style into different RPG settings and stories, instead of Persona only (Haven't played SMT myself)
Your impressions were so refreshing everyone else is just gushing about this game and while I found it good I also didn’t find it all that amazing not yet anyways. So far I enjoy Persona and SMT and even Catherine a bit more.
That is very kind of you, thank you. I've only seen maybe 1-2 impressions after I did this, but the hype online and twitter for months is very much hype hype hype, and I'm so thankful for a demo cause I was kinda not interested before this, art style didn't appeal to me. I'm still not totally captured like I mentioned but, I'm definitely willing to play this and all the way through, at least when I find the time much later, it's got a lot of stuff I do love in RPGs and it's clearly well made.
Great demo impression vid, Xeno!! 😊 Can't believe it's around 6+ hrs long. Sounds like you had fun. I think I may try out the demo. I just finished Rise of the Ronin demo. Fun demo with combat that takes some getting used too. Can't wait to see what other videos you have planned 😺
Ah Rei!! Tysm for watching!! Oooh I didn’t know Rise had a demo, it looked ok but I was never the biggest fan of Nioh games and this looked like it had a lot of same combat.
I'm absolutely loving this game. The one thing that really turned me off from SMT and Persona is that they are, at their mechanical cores, creature collecting games. And I've just never liked that style of game as much as a more traditional JRPG. And Metaphor, unlike SMT and Persona, is a job based JRPG more like FF:Tactics or FF5 than Pokemon/SMT. To me, this is such a massive difference.
Yeah I don't care THAT much for the collection aspect either, truth be told that's why I half ignore it as the MC in Persona, I get what works and then just roll with it. That and the designs are 50/50 for me of Persona themselves. Still never played an SMT game either, art style kinda puts me off but I’ve heard nothing but great things
Dude I gotta say when the kings face came back and pwning everyone was great. Dont usually enjoy the pulpy moments of anime (is this even anime). But that face had me buying the oj with all of the pulp.
haha it was certainly interesting for sure, and setting up the whole king plot was a unique take and I instantly realized how the day/night cycle and deadlines played into it.
I knew very little going into this demo. I just saw that it was going to be available on the PS4. I spent 8 hours and finished and then preordered immediately. One of the things i love is how meta this game can be. Having you give your own name at the beggining and there being an in game reason for the backround music. Yeah galica and strohl are my favs so far not sure on hulkenberg yet but she is not in the party all that long in the demo. I feel it being a bit longer my have factored in to how the tutorial did not feel like a slog unlike in persona.
Same, I had paid very little attention cause art style kinda put me off, so when I saw a demo I too was like, alright then, why not? I'm really curious to see how that plays into the game, given a name and THEN a character name, I do wonder how it all connects at some stage. Hope you enjoy the full release!
Battle system being the press turn system already sold me Edit: Also, i found the game to look much better in my face rather than through videos, but yes! I actually like the art style of Persona 5 and reloaded more... except those portraits! Holy shit those are amazing!
I'm happy that this is more mature in nature, just like shin megami tensei. My first persona game was 5 royal and loved it, can do without the social aspects for me, however loved that there was more story compared to the new shin megami tensei game. Which I was left wanting more story. So hopefully this game takes the best of both worlds
This has social links, but the game doesn't have romance, and many people seem to say the same thing about SMT (which I haven't played any) so yeah, this totally might end up being a LOT of people's fav version of this style of RPG, I think it's gonna be big.
In general or the MC? In general it's a LOT of VA, but, not everything no, non important stuff and random npc talk isn't voiced. It's like most Persona are, where everything main story and main side npc will have it, but random pieces won't. As for the MC himself, he speaks WAY more than protags of Persona games, far more often. If you've already cancelled, wait till day 1 to see more gameplay and walkthrough, or maybe give the demo itself a shot if you have the option
While I agree it's very similar to persona. Id argue the archetype system is much more like xenoblade chronicle 3's job system rather then the monster catching of persona/smt. It really feels like atlus's magnum opus to me. Can't wait for the full release!
yet another RPG series I haven't tried (altho that's cause i don't own Nintendo hardware last two gens now) funny enough my gaming name on PSN and Xbox is XenoBlade... people keep asking if I've ever played them for 15 years now lol
I actually really enjoy the restart battle thing as someone who likes a challenge. Since you get a bonus for winning a fight without getting hit it’s almost like a puzzle for some matches to get that bonus
I love persona and smt and I find metaphor is the best of both worlds with its own spin of just better. Setting is better. No dumb silent protagonist. It’s a story game. If everyone is voiced then the protagonist always should be too. Combat feels awesome and the Archetype system so far is way better than the previous systems. I can’t wait to beat my head into the wall trying to beat regicide mode (as some enemies get more actions per turn in addition to more hp/damage so it’s not just bigger numbers but harder AI) I bought it straight away after playing half way through the demo so yeah. Can’t wait till the 11th.
@@rickn6923 I sadly have no played a SMT game as they’ve never appealed to me much looking in from the outside but my comments are filled with SMT comparisons so I definitely need to look at the series at least once in the future. Glad to hear you had so much fun, agreed on protag voice and combat. I’m struggling to decide to not buy it day 1 atm as I just have too many games to play but it’s so hard 😂
@@MyLivingLegacy lol well I’ll be the strange disembodied persona voice telling you to give into your desire and purchase it 😂. As for SMT, the combat is very similar to persona and metaphor but the setting is always more mature and the power system is basically you being the main character and then taking control of a party of demons. The demons are all encountered in combat or in the world and through conversation or proper combat actions are then brought to fight for you. They can be sacrificed and merged to create stronger or just different party members and the variety of characters and skills are huge. This is great because even some bosses can be recruited as playable characters. You can only hold a certain amount of demons at a time and need to choose the right ones for the proper encounters. SMT is also way harder than persona and if you like challenge it is preferred. Normal on SMT is hard on any other game and hard is brutal. I highly recommend the series especially if you like these games. The latest entry was very good.
Omg what a skill issue dying in the beginning LOL I never died during the whole demo :patrick: Joke aside, never played a single persona game in my life, always wanted to pick up one of them but not sure which one to start with to get a good starting experience, this game does feel like it'll be up my alley so maybe I'll pick it up in the near future! Fantastic review as always
pfftttttttttTTTTTTTT you didn't play the demo you LIAR! Surprised you haven't actually, I think some of the Persona stuff would be up your alley, altho you can't summon for new waifus so maybe it's too complicated for you 😀 Thanks for watching man
If you want to play the Persona games, Persona 3 FES or Reload, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal are a good choice. My recommendation is to start with Persona 4 Golden because it's the oldest, unless you want to start with FES, which came out earlier. Then Persona 3 Reload and finally the Magnus Opum Persona 5 Royal.
@@Haruka_Watanabe I think in this day and age, Royal or P3R would be best to get people into the series first as they are modern, if they like them they can go back to something as good as P4G for example, which is far more outdated, but they are such long games, Royal and P3R would be best to capture people I think, but they're all insanely good lol
I am saving the DLC’s for a replay next year so I can look back at it two years later, I think it’s a great game every FF should at least try or play but I have some harsh criticism for it sadly, especially as it’s my favourite franchise
@@PVEguardian98 ah yeah sorry, not entirely sure if it's a mispeak or not on my behalf, I did mean Hulkenberg, 4th playable person with an archtype, but technically 3rd member after MC.
I think its just because it is the prologue, but i found the pacing of game play vs cut scenes top choppy. Hopefully this improves as the game opens up
I wouldn't say it is Persona because it is different. Persona Games are inspired by Jungian Psychology "The Persona" hence where the name came from of the series. This game is more akin to Dungeon's and Dragons if you recall at the start of the game you get to name yourself ergo the Dungeon Master and then after that name the protagonist which is your character that you will guide in this campaign or "Fantasy Story". Similarities in gameplay alone does not make it Persona as well. Persona games is always about one's true self and their Persona that masks it. The story of Metaphor is more like Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre where it is set in a medieval dark Fantasy centered on Political Power Struggle.
That's a really interesting thought actually, if you consider yourself the dungeon master etc I haven't played DnD stuff before, I'm sure I have played some games that have some basis, but like Tactics Ogre you mention too, not played. I guess I meant that, if you have played persona, this style of RPG and it's mechanics (or even SMT, which people have mentioned, another series not played) you'll know exactly what this will be gameplay wise. Story this could go so far in different directions and with politics like a FF, altho I'm not good with politics so I don't comment on them even in games lol Thanks for the insight!
Biggest fan login In and ready to enjoy this quality content 😎👌🏽 *Edit* well makes sense now that I’ve watched the video. It’s heavily persona coded but it’s a bit more polished and more serious. Not that I'm aware from the prologue, but most Persona games specifically have had DLC costumes a lot, but as this is a new IP not entirely sure if they will go down the same road. Will have to wait till release to see
Embarrassingly the normal cave boss, I didn't know about the front and back lines mechanic in battle I must have not read that tutorial correctly ... and I could have avoided the guys winding up attack fully and I was tanking it head-on like an absolute idiot LOL so I bashed my head against the wall face tanking it till I eventually won with the MC dead 😂 I didn't even know you could take the Dragon on initially either, and I didn't even see the Minotaur boss. The demo is far deeper than I realised if you poke around and experiment
I'd have to see how the full game goes but, the first cave dungeon has two save points middle and before boss, didn't see much issue yet but it really depends how deep some of the areas you go become.
@@wolfsterjones891 if she turns out to be Morgana from Persona 5 telling me to go to bed every night and not let me explore those wings coming right damn off 😂
I really liked the demo, and it kind lf convinced me to get the game, even though peeviously I was barely interested at all. And the reason I wasn't interested is precisely what you bring up - it doesn't just look drab, it's kind of ugly. I hate the color scheme, and the UI though stylish, is also so incredibly busy that it's sometimes difficult to see what's going on. The backgrounds look so outdated. Too detailed for being that low res. It's giving me FE Three Houses flashbacks, and that's not a flattering statement. Persona, especially 5, has smoother (kind of cell shaded) look, and I feel like that works A LOT better. I also personally hate the entire...anime people with animal features thing (but it's only ears and tails), but that's a personal pet peeve. Most of the cut scenes (that aren't clasically animated) also just look... Really bad. And derpy. And the character designs for some of the characters are weirdly bland, and then other characters have these really out there (some of which are good, some of which are not) designs. Nevertheless, I think the fact that I was drawn in despite how many of these things bother me kind of speak to how good those first opening hours are, and I still really want to play it.
That's a fairly long list of criticisms, so you're right, if this has held your interest despite that, it very well might be worth the purchase. I do agree that the characters don't LOOK that appealing yet, they suit the world they're in and all but nothing stands out as wow, this character look s SICK. Altho not that Persona characters are anything but standard highschoolers, their outfits in 5 for example are very distinct when using Personas etc
@@MyLivingLegacy Absolutely! I fully agree. ^^ Luckily I'm not too bothered about graphics. I'd rather have a game with substance and no style than a game that is all style but no substance. ^^ There was also one design I actually really did like. @@Gladissims Yeah, graphics don't matter to me after gaming for this long, it's about style, which is why I wasn't 100% sold on it initially. I mean look at Elden Ring, you actually look close up the game doesn't look THAT great, but art style it's incredible, it's what makes the game look good. That NPC is clearly somebody of interest, you can just tell from their designs lol at least hopefully anyway, no way she's just a simple shop seller.

I was hoping the characters would feel more natural and less stereotypically fantasy archetypes (uhuhuh). My biggest gript with final fantasy games since 10+ is how effing cheese and annoying the dialogue and character motivations are... and unfortunately both of those are present in this game -so far-. Hope that changes! Also-- the twist is going to be very similar to the twist in DDS. Sorry for ruining it for you.
FF is my favorite gaming franchise, and even then I'm fairly ok with stereotypes these days, it's getting harder and harder to make original characters (that and writing isn't as good as it seems it used to be in most games) but I'll agree they are fairly by the books so far, issue is we won't know the depths of the relationships and things they go through till 20/40/80 hrs in, when it's either too late you're invested anyway, or you bounced far earlier or didn't play.
Even after what happened to one of the main cast at the end of the demo, I wasn't like wow, gonna cry, and I'm absolutely a teary person for games I like, ALL the time lol we shall see whatever characters they is on full release I suppose and if any truly capture people, but I'll be waiting a bit, I have other things I'm playing anyway and lined up right now.

It shocks me that you only have 87 subscribers with the quality of your videos. Keep it up and you’ll definitely start blowing up
I can't wait to *eventually* dive into 3 Reload, but tbh I was holding off till it's cheaper and all the DLC was out, Aegis thing etc so I know I have a complete package when I do play.

Very excited to see the rest of the game. I'm completely hooked by the characters and story
@@tbnwontpop8857 Really glad to hear how much people love it
Pre-order the game yesterday. Great game.
Also seems we'll have a role as a player too (perhaps a being from their fantasy book reality)
Crazy shit man
@@jordanbates4621 There better be some wild twists and turns by the end, cause for people that did pay attention like you, it's setting something up, no way it can't be
The whole human thing really threw me through a loop for a bit, I was like wait ... wdym??? humans??
@@MyLivingLegacy For me thats what hooked me at the start. "Humans are these grotesque monsters? wtf?!"
If you watch the "epilogue" of the demo you get to see some other areas that seem to contrast with the dreary areas we had at the start. Although I agree with you, I wouldn't be surprised if we get to come over to the "real" world at some point.
Awesome video, can’t wait to hear your opinion on the full release
More turns but doesn’t necessarily mean auto win by spamming wind attacks on a full mob weak to wind till they die
this is how it is in smt
That's not exactly a replacement. That's just a press turn. One more is the deviation.
@@rafaelluciano5596 I’m not familiar with SMT combat
To my knowledge, Studio Zero is composed of people who primarily worked on Persona games.
I also really do like the art direction this time around too, It's far from my favorite style (I am quite the huge fan of colorful games compared to less saturated ones) but the game looks beautiful more often than not and all the effects regarding architypes is really great, from the glowing lines the characters have during combat to the big cutscene attacks (especially with the fact that the Brawler literally gets to use the final flash with the right situation, that's just amazing, and instantly got rid of any regret for restarting my save)
The protagonist is a huge plus for me personally, on top of actually really liking his design, letting him actually having dialog is amazing since it lets him have more of a character in the game instead of it being mostly relegated to adaptations and goofy dialog choices. Also having him be less mechanically important is something I love as it's no longer 3 companions and a walking nuke most of the time (since persona's companions are strong, yes, but they were always behind the protagonist by a large margin outside of maybe P4G Naoto), plus it means no more unfortunately targeted 1 shot kills causing a complete reset since the protagonist can go down without ending the whole fight, and letting more characters take advantage of all archetypes is just all kinds of amazing since it's basically a Persona variant of the Job system, one of my favorite game mechanics from the older Final Fantasy games
As for the other characters, Strohl really is a great new direction for the typical early party member best friend character compared to characters like Junpei, Yosuke and Ryuji (plus sharing a VA with Dion from FFXVI is a win and REALLY fits), I'm really looking forward to learning more about More, there's some really interesting things going on there, especially with the dialog when you select the heart in the archetype tree, and Gallica is certainly looking to turn out to be probably the best of the speaking mascots (even though I do like Teddy a lot more than most...mainly because I love puns compared to most who find them unbearable).
But I'm absolutely going to pick it up at some point...probably after I finish P3 reload...which I really do need to finish at some point...which is probably only going to happen a good bit after Sparking Zero
little Myth little Myth let me in
Thanks so much for checking it out man, glad you have been having fun with it. Yeah I didn't get Brawler, I stopped at end of day 1, I didn't want to spoil more for myself, plus 6 hrs was enough for me lol
Looks like we share a lot of the same thoughts, altho I do expect you'll be more positive on this game (like 16) compared to me overall by the end.
Worst time possible lol
Thanks for commenting Myth
Can't believe it's around 6+ hrs long.
This game is megaten combat, persona UI, final fantasy 5's job system and an actual good story (so far). I didn't realize how much I wanted this.
I really think this game will hit many people at the right time, and lowkey be another smash hit like P5 was for the West especially. Really hope so!
Battle system being the press turn system already sold me
Edit: Also, i found the game to look much better in my face rather than through videos, but yes! I actually like the art style of Persona 5 and reloaded more... except those portraits! Holy shit those are amazing!
@@manutdfan231 yeah the game did look better in person when playing for sure, trailers didn’t do it for me but prologue on a nice screen far better.
@@MyLivingLegacy what would you say is the percent of voice acting? I ended up canceling my pre order due to seeing clips with no voice acting.
Can't wait for the 11th. Subbed
Hope you enjoy the game! I'll do my best to pick it up when I can but I am STACKED with a schedule atm lol so I'll be jealous
While I agree it's very similar to persona. Id argue the archetype system is much more like xenoblade chronicle 3's job system rather then the monster catching of persona/smt. It really feels like atlus's magnum opus to me. Can't wait for the full release!

Also i LOVE METAPHOR AND THE ARCHETYPES IVE SEEN ARE BEYOND COOL
YES MAN, GEY HYPED! 😂 thanks so much for watching, really appreciate it
I actually really enjoy the restart battle thing as someone who likes a challenge. Since you get a bonus for winning a fight without getting hit it’s almost like a puzzle for some matches to get that bonus
ah, I never thought about that, yeah the bonus exp and item drops for a flawless run, that's a good way to min-max battles actually, good catch!
I can’t wait to beat my head into the wall trying to beat regicide mode (as some enemies get more actions per turn in addition to more hp/damage so it’s not just bigger numbers but harder AI)
I bought it straight away after playing half way through the demo so yeah.
Omg what a skill issue dying in the beginning LOL I never died during the whole demo :patrick:
Joke aside, never played a single persona game in my life, always wanted to pick up one of them but not sure which one to start with to get a good starting experience, this game does feel like it'll be up my alley so maybe I'll pick it up in the near future!

Or is he counting grius and was referring to halkenbeirg (tank lady) ?
@@PVEguardian98 ah yeah sorry, not entirely sure if it's a mispeak or not on my behalf, I did mean Hulkenberg, 4th playable person with an archtype, but technically 3rd member after MC.
I think its just because it is the prologue, but i found the pacing of game play vs cut scenes top choppy. Hopefully this improves as the game opens up
There is a LOT of cutscenes and dialogue for sure, shame the demo ends at you finally getting free time to play properly and you are stopped lol
Story this could go so far in different directions and with politics like a FF, altho I'm not good with politics so I don't comment on them even in games lol
Thanks for the insight!

Not that I'm aware from the prologue, but most Persona games specifically have had DLC costumes a lot, but as this is a new IP not entirely sure if they will go down the same road. Will have to wait till release to see
When you mentioned the early game boss you struggled with. Are you referring to the Dragon or Minotaur?
Embarrassingly the normal cave boss, I didn't know about the front and back lines mechanic in battle I must have not read that tutorial correctly ... and I could have avoided the guys winding up attack fully and I was tanking it head-on like an absolute idiot LOL so I bashed my head against the wall face tanking it till I eventually won with the MC dead 😂
I didn't even know you could take the Dragon on initially either, and I didn't even see the Minotaur boss. The demo is far deeper than I realised if you poke around and experiment
My only major gripe with this game is that they just throw you into dungeons with no chance to save at times.
I'd have to see how the full game goes but, the first cave dungeon has two save points middle and before boss, didn't see much issue yet but it really depends how deep some of the areas you go become.

@@gooey_smoogy the main thing is you at least tried it, and didn’t waste money doing so. Purchase saved
Luckily I'm not too bothered about graphics. I'd rather have a game with substance and no style than a game that is all style but no substance. ^^

Sorry for ruining it for you.
like literally exposition and I just do not care about ANY of then. I have been moved to tears in the Persona games-- this one feels hollow.
