    Sango Kaku is such a beautiful cultivar, great video! I got 2 Sango Kaku layers last year and 5 rooted cuttings, I'm excited to develop them further. Have you seen any pink color developing on your older Sango Kaku air layer nebari?

    Great video! Starting my layers on April 21st (heard that Peter Chan had luck with that date).

    Good video thanks! Do you wait until the leaves are out and hardened off or can you do it during bud break

      @MomijiEn  6 місяців тому +1

      I usually do it in May/June when new leaves are hardened off but heard you can also do it in early Spring then you can harvest it by summer.

    I can't wait for the results...
    To be honest i am a bit sceptical, 1 month roots and within 3 month you will cut them!?
    Will they develop well enough roots to keep the cutting alive on theit own!?
    Other videos I saw they cut them late summer or even hold it for the next spring.

      I usually do this in late May/June and separate them by mid fall most of the time with enough roots. The longer you wait, the better and it does depend on where you air layered and how much foliage the new roots need to support :)

    Assuming the video date is very recent? when do you expect to harvest the air layer?

    • @MomijiEn
      @MomijiEn  6 місяців тому

      Yes I did this in a week. I expect to harvest it by July if all goes as planned :)

    I have a grafted shindeshojo and want to ground layer because the graft isn’t done well. Have you done this before? Any tips to do this? I believe the timing is right in April.

      late March/April is a good time or May/Early June is another good time!

    For air-layering, is your preference powder or gel rooting hormone, and do you have a best results IBA %?

    • @MomijiEn
      @MomijiEn  6 місяців тому +1

      I use both but both works but I have more positive results using powder. Not sure about IBA% for the best results.

    • @arodicas
      @arodicas 6 місяців тому +1

      @@MomijiEn was that powder about 1% or higher?
      Asking because I have ranges from 1%-8% rooting hormones and I’m wondering which might be the best to try on coral, floating clouds, Shishio and a mikawa yatsubusa.

    • @_michael.orourke_
      @_michael.orourke_ 6 місяців тому

      @@arodicas that rooting powder is 0.1% IBA.
